Q: The floors are brand new laminate floors, only about 2 months old. We just moved in here and our realtor told us to use Orange Glo to make them shiny. Biggest mistake I have ever made. It looked great at first but now the floors look like crap. They are hazy, no longer shiny, and collect dirt like you wouldn't believe. I just now used ammonia, vinegar, baking soda and water to remove the left over wax build up. It helped a little and right after I did that I went over the floors with Bruce laminate cleaner. I thought it worked really well until I walked over the floor and then looked back and saw my foot prints all over the floor. So my question is, why on these newly cleaned floors can you see my foot print where ever I walk and what can I do to stop that? Also, do you have any suggestions on removing the wax buildup? Thanks: Biggest problem with laminate floors is knowing what KIND they are! are they totally smooth or have a grain to them? Are they almost plastic' or feel like real wood. the totally smooth kind have to be treated like no-way floors-- but not until they are cleaned properly.... use regular floor cleaner like 409 or Mr. Clean--- THEN use a Barely Damp Mop with JUST clean water- rinsing frequently... you want all the old gunk OFF! Drying with towels helps too. Then use something for no-wax floors. Ask at Home Depot or Lowes for a good product. If they are the more realistic' wood laminate-- follow the first steps, clean, rinse, dry.... then use something made FOR laminate floors... again, ask at Home Depot/Lowes and explain the previous issues.... in between mopping- use a dry push dust-mop to keep up dust (or a swiffer- but I don't like buying the refills!) You can even use a light mist of spray cleaner on the floor with a dust mop to get up foot prints and 'spruce up between mopping! Good Luck!

Q: we bought a new house and a room had a cement floor and now my parents put floating floor over top. now we're starting to smell a musty smell and we have asked some people what to do and they said 1) paint cement with sealer then recover with floating floor ( remove floor first) 2) air exchanger 3) put vents on the floor when the windows are closed it doesn't smell but when the windows are open it really stinks so we know that it's under the floor and we are told that the cement is starting to sweat. my question: what do i do and what do i treat it with? thanks!: new house? get in touch with the builder, if no joy then contact nhbc who give building certificate for advice

Q: I walked into the bathroom floor of my renters house this morning, and there was no floor. Just some dirt. Then I walked into their living room, and the carpet had turned brown. There were also snails and slugs in it, and dirt. Is there something that could have caused this so rapidly? It seems so unlikely, and I think they're lying to me, but I don't know. Help?: Could they have pulled up the floors for some reason and gotten rid of them? Even if it was rotten, the underlayment should still have been there, and the floor all around the edges of the room would still have been there. That carpet either has to be on bare ground, or they have been hauling dirt in from outdoors. Did they kill someone in there or do something with illegal chemicals, and got rid of all the flooring to destroy the evidence?

Q: ok i have a cement floor in my room cuz im in the basement. i really dont want it so what can i put there? i was thinking carpet but it sounds way to hard to put carpet on cement. in my top floor theres this stuff my ma put where it looks like hardwood but it is plastic and its just like double sided tape on it. should i do this?: it's really not hard to put carpet onto cement, most council houses have cement bottom floors.
