Q: I am looking at installing a floating laminate floor in my house and would like any input on which type of flooring would be best since there are so many options. (ex: thickness, brand, COST, ease of installation, underlayment already attached vs laying underlayment, type of wood, etc...) I want the floor to look nice but I don't want to break the bank either. Any help and/or tips from someone who has installlation experience would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance: We have had a laminate floor in our kitchen for around ten years.It is easy to install,all you need is a saw ,hammer ,ruler.Just basic tools .Leave 1/4 gap next to all walls to allow for expansion.Most laminate flooring snaps together,use a block of wood to knock the pieces together on the ends.stagger each run to make floor stronger.

Q: I am remodeling my kitchen and it has an industrial tile on the floor now (similiar to school flooring). I would like to put ceramic tile in its place. is it okay to lay the ceramic right over top if the floor is in good condition? or do i have to remove the laminate before placing the ceramic?: If what you have now is all secure and super in place, then you could go over with ceramic. Make sure you have enough room to raise the floor (over refridgerators especially)... I put some links to the Tile Council of America website regarding tile over....pick your current floor (VCT? Terrazo?) Remember, what you put down will look as good as the substrate allows!

Q: Is there much of a difference between lock hardward floors VS regular hard wood floors?: lock floors are a lot easier to install. they have tongue and groove so anyone can really put them in. so if you wanted to do it yourself and save the money of paying someone else to install it then that is an option.

Q: would sanding floor correct ridges in hardwood floor that happened when contractor tried to correct buckling floor.did' he do poor workmanship but would sanding help.thank you: if the floor got wet and buckled you need to replace the floor. when ever a hard wood floor buckles their is a reason, which must be corrected. sanding will not fix the problem just waste your money unless when they tried to fix the floor they replaced the wood flooring and it is thicker than the old floor as the old floor had been sanded before. if this is the case then yes sand away

Q: My church recently had our concrete floors stained and then sealed with 2 coats of urethane..I have tried cleaning and buffing with a neutral PH floor cleaner which left a film on the floor. I have a couple questions since I am in charge of caring for the floor1. How do I keep the floor clean and shiney without leaving water marks or soap film on the floor?2.How do I buff and shine the floor?3.How do I remove the scratches and scuff marks from the floor?: All I would add to Ultimate Washer's answer is that periodically it just pays to put another coat of Urethane on it. It will help fill the scratches and a good buff will make it look good as new. Obviously you can't repeat that indefinitely, but a few times at long intervals won't hurt. The one thing you want to AVOID AT ALL COSTS is letting anything RUBBER sit on it for extended periods of time. It will partically dissolve into the urethane and you'll get weird patterns on the floor.

Q: I removed my carpet and put in laminate floor. Do you have to put a sealer for laminate floors. What products can i use to clean laminate floors??: You do not need to seal laminate flooring. Just scrub it with a mild soap solution and warm water. Laminate flooring is one of the easiest floors to take care of. A Swiffer Wet Jet cleaner works well also.
