Q: The fence is typical 47 inch wire field fencing. I am putting it on a one acre lot with the post being placed every 15 feet. I am using landscaping post as they are cheaper then regular post and i have worked with them before on my stockade fencing with no problem. I am installing two 10 foot farm gates which are 1 and 3/4 inch tubular steel. I will be using 4x4 pressure treated post on the 4 corners and the post holding the gates.I need to know how much concrete i would need for the 60 land scaping post and the 6 4x4 post. I am figuring one 60 pound bag of cement (the kind you get for about $2.50 a bag) for every two landscaping post and one full bag for each of the 4x4 post giving me a total of 36 bags. I am presently not planning on adding any stones to the mix, just water. The post will be 2 feet in the ground and 6 feet above. Barb wire across the top.Does this sound right or am way off on how many post will do one bag? The total feet of fencing is 900 feet.
Do not skimp on the cement, really allow a full sack per post when doing your budget, 2 for each gate post and each corner post. Then get bids for the total amount and haggle down the price. The extra cement will give a solid fence that will last. If you have any left over, sell them to a neighbor.
Q: What is the meaning of 53 grade cement ?
The grade of a portland cement corresponds to how much pressure it can take after it has set for 28 days. 53-grade cement must have a compressive strength of 53 MegaPascals (7687 pounds per square inch) after 28 days. There are also 33 and 43 grades, which must have minimum compressive strengths of 33 and 43 MPa respectively.
Q: I am planning to build a wooden wall in my crawlspace. It is a large, dry space and would be great for storage. The wall would be about 6ft x 32ft and would run along the inside of the cement foundation. Can I attach it to the cement foundation or to the wooden beams running along the top? Or does that cause weakening of the foundation or other problems. If I can't, does anyone know a good way to make the wall sturdy without attaching it to anything (I just want to attach some peg board and shelving to it). Thanks for any advice!
Wood against the cement wall is not a good idea. Moisture from the ground usually seeps in through concrete, and evaporate from the floor. and the wood will soak it up, grow moldy and rot. If you are planning to use it for storage the best course of action would be to encapsulate it instead. That means lining the whole crawl space, floor and walls with a 20mil poly sheet (like a pool liner) specially developed for this purpose, and then install a conditioning system to blow air from the upstairs into the crawl, keeping it dry. Besides protecting your crawl space and stored items from moisture, termites etc... encapsulation makes your whole house at least 18% more energy efficient. It is recommended by the US Department of Energy's Building America as Best Practice. I am adding the link to Advanced Energy website. There you will find videos explaining the process and a ton of studies conducted by them on crawl spaces, as well as to another website about Crawl Spaces.
Q: How to install cement backer board in a shower?
Install like drywall except use backer board screws. You can seal the joints. If going over a sub-floor you can use an adhesive between the sub-floor and the backer board.
Q: 1.steel2.cement3.sand4.lime
Lime and silica make about 85% of the mass of cement. However, lime by itself is not used in the production of Portland cement concrete mixtures. Hydrated lime is usually used in the production of asphaltic concrete mixtures. See the links below for more information.
Q: how is cement prepaed? what are the uses and different types of cement?
I've been in exactly the same situation. We live on the edge of nowhere and can't get delivered concrete. We poured our greenhouse floor, using Portland premix cement and a mixer. Our mixer is slightly smaller than yours. We used extra water in the mix so it would stay workable longer. Bad idea! The floor did fine until the first winter. It then split, chipped cracked and, well, you get the picture. We ended up redoing it. The second time we divided the floor into three sections. Each section had its own small 3/8 rebar web placed 2 above ground in a 4 floor. We supported the web by driving 10 pieces of 3/8 rebar into the ground and wire to hold the web to them. Lastly, on the sides where the adjoining sections would go, we used 1 x 6 pieces of redwood. We drilled them and ran rebar through to the web – leaving 2' sticking out for attaching the new sections. That piece sticking out was attached to the next section's rebar web. It has been there for several years now, and has no cracks at all. Our temperatures range from 105°F in summer to -40°F in winter. I put a link in to show how to determine how many cubic yards of concrete you'll need. Good luck!
Q: Why cement, red brick, steel bars in the second half of these building materials will be relative to the first half prices
On the one hand is the relationship between rising prices on the other hand is the second half of the construction site more
Q: what is composition of cement?
t depends on exactly what kind of cement you are referring to. Portland cement is the most common kind, and it has several types with slightly different compositions. There are four major compounds in cement and these are known as C2S, C3S, C3A C4AF, and their composition varies from cement to cement and plant to plant. Type 2 portland cement is cement that has been modified to have better resistance to sulfates - a great quality to have if the concrete you're making ends up being in contact with soil containing a lot of sulphur like in the Western part of the U.S. It about the same price as type 1, but has some other limitations. Here is the breakdown of its chemical makeup (by mass %): 51% - C3 S 24% - C2 S 6% - C3 A 11% - C4 AF 2.9% - MgO 2.5% - SO3 0.8% - Ignition loss 1.0% - free CaO The extent of chemical compounds in cement S no Compound Composition as % 1 C3S 48-52 % 2 C2S 22-26 % 3 C3A 6-10 % 4 C4AF 13-16 % 5 Freelime 1-2 %
Q: Portland cement
Lime, clay and silica are 3 main ingredients of cement
Q: 420 kg cement how many cubic feet?
wet or dry? assuming dry: But there are many unknowns, see below. I'll take a number of 1000 kg/m? and you can change as needed 420 kg / 1000 kg/m? = 0.4 m?, which converts to 14 ft? Cement (finely ground gray or white powder used to bind concrete mixtures) weighs between 830 kg/m? and 1650 kg/m? depending on its handling. The weight of cement that has been pneumatically loaded into a cement silo may be as low as 830 kg/m?, while cement that has been stored for a period of time exposed to vibration may be as heavy as 1650 kg/m?.
