- light is well light. in Max you can set up lights to shine on you object from wherever you want from inside it, from outside it. obviously like in real like it casts shadows. the lighting is a huge part of rendering your files in max, if you can use your lighting properly it well help make your objects seem more real. good lighting and good material use when rendering will give great results , but it takes a lot of practice. there are hundreds of tutorials on-line for 3Ds max
