- Q: Do Roomba robot vacuum cleaners actually vacuum, or are they just sweepers?
- They are great- We bought my Mother one for Christmas, and she loves it, as tiny as they are, they pick alot, she has a white pomeranian and it picks up all of his hairs, if your thinking of getting one- they really are worth the expense!

- My favorite is my trusty Shop Vac! I bought the smaller one. We have only one, low-traffic room with rug, so I don't miss the beater bar. It sucks up anything, and you don't have to buy bags unless you are vacuuming fine dust. The whole thing, canister, filters, and hose can be washed. I use it for our vehicles and the whole house. And when there's a water spill somewhere, just empty the canister and suck up the water. Costs around $60.

- I would say the same
- Q: I don't know much about vacuum cleaners. My vacuum cleaner isn't working now. I changed the filter, but it does not pick up the stuff on the carpet. I vacuum over it and it doesn't pick it. - Do you have a Dirt Devil upright? Anyways, take the attachment hose off. Make sure it is not clogged. Remove dust lint. Make sure the vacuum cleaner roller (turn over) is spinning when on. You can take the roller off and make sure there is nothing wrapped around it. There isn't much to a vacuum cleaner. Just keep it clean they will last for a long time. Dirt Devil vacuums are notorious for this. Don't waste your money on having repaired. You can do these thing yourself.
- Q: Does small industrial vacuum cleaners work perfectly ?
- I don't know about perfectly but usually the motor is stronger, the bar is larger so more area is covered with one swipe which is good for large carpeted areas but maybe not for home with closer arranged furniture. They tend to be a bit quieter as you don't want to scare the guests. If you are talking about the wet/dry type, be careful with the cleaning heads. Without the self propelled feature on a head, they are hard to push over carpeting.

- Q: I am planning to get a now dog. Preferably a small breed, and it will be indoors allot. My house is really big. MY question is , will it be a problem if my house is almost always messy? there is allot of trash lyeing around all over the place, bits of paper,cloths hangers, cloths, other trash, toys. Will this is a big deal. I assume it would, but exactly how clean should I be for the new dog ? What kind of stuff is a absolute must to avoid having lying around in the dog's reach ?
- Yes, this will be a problem. Puppies chew everything and get into everything. Small things should not be lying on the floor, they may either chew or completely devour it. This includes papers, cords, shoes, etc. Some puppies are great about not getting into your things, but when you get a new puppy, you must assume that they will.

- Q: The motor turns ok, and my husband couldn't find where the hose was clogged.. we just can't get any suction.It is a Dirt Devil. Upright. Approx 7-8 yrs old.
- Vacuum cleaners are simple machines. They only NOT work because the intake line is clogged, the bag is full, the motor doesn't work, or the exhaust vent is clogged. If you can start unhooking hoses and vents, find out what works, then re-attach hoses and vents until something doesn't work. If the motor spins and the bag is replaced, I'll bet you've got a clog in the intake hose. Disconnect it from the rest of the cleaner and jam a garden hose down the length of it. You may dislodge a wad of yuck or a golf ball or sock or something.
- Q: I am slow to put my sweaters away for the summer and out of the way of moths. It's possible a moth already found them and layed her eggs on them. I shook them all outside carefully, have placed them in a zipper bag and will add some mothballs. Will that kill the eggs that might be in there???P.S. I am not going to wash them all because some were washed and others are not soiled.
- Lavender is a much nicer scent--- and it will also ward off moths. Another thing to try is to use the new big Ziploc bags to store them in the Summer-- then you can minimize the damage by storing them separately....then hopefully not all sweaters will be damaged.
