Q: I've been working on a couple projects in one room in my house. The room really needs to be vacuumed but there is aquarium gravel scattered around as well as a bunch of tiny screws. I have a shark vacuum. There's no threat of puncturing a bag because this vacuum doesn't use a bag - it uses a canister. I could easily empty the canister and then go over the floor with the hose. I'm wondering if it's an ok idea though because I don't want to damage anything in the vacuum. Occasionally, my battery powered aquarium vacuum will suck up a couple pieces of gravel, they'll get stuck, stop the vacuum, and I have to get them out for the vacuum to work again. I don't know how house vacuums work, but I don't want that to happen. If there aren't any mechanical components to be damaged, then I guess the only other worry would be the hose, but the hose on this vacuum feels pretty sturdy, and I would just be vacuuming tiny gravel and tiny, corroded screws - nothing sharp like tacks or nails. What do you guys think?
really?...really?
Q: i need a good vacuum that won't break. my family and i had one that lasted for about 5-6 years then we kept buying vacuums for under $100 after that one broke then those broke within a month or two .. i need one that will last and won't be a waste of my money. one that is under $200 ... please help me...?? :-(
Dyson all the way! I know it is over $400, but we have had it for many years!!! I just totally love it! We had been buying a new one at least once a year and when you consider if you spent like $80 on a new one that often, you are better off to invest in one that will last MANY YEARS! I love that the filters are lifetime, washable filters and I love the awesome suction and that it is bagless. The wand stretches all the way up a flight of sta rs and you can get many neat attachments for getting under beds and stuff. We got ours at Best Buy, but I am sure it would be WAY cheaper if you bought it off OKorder or checked Craigs List. Hope that helps! Tara
Q: I have a memory foam mattress topper that was vacuum packed in its original box, and when I took it out originally, it expanded to many, many times its original vacuum packed size. I live far away and need to ship it to myself now, but now that it's not vacuum packed and shrunk, I can't get it much smaller than the largest of my suitcases. Is there any place that I can go to get it industrially shrink wrapped or vacuum packed (preferably in the DFW area) so that I can get it down to at least a fraction of its original size? The home vacuum sealers won't do the trick; this mattress pad is much too strong and large for what they are intended to do. I've tried and nothing works, I'm thinking only an industrial stength vacuum packer will work.
This may be a long shot, but I know meat packing plants have large vaccuum sealing machines. Maybe you could find one in your area that would do it for you for a small fee. Hopefully it wouldn't come out smelling like chicken!
Q: Please read further to answer question. 10 points for best answerYou are comparing two vacuum cleaners in an appliance store and notice that one israted at 120V, 9 Amp while the other is rated at 120V, 12 Amp.WHY?
The vacuum cleaner's current is largely drawn by its vacuum motor/s. Some cleaners use another motor in order to drive a brush in the cleaning head. Could this extra motor be the cause of the added current in some cleaners?
Q: i want to buy a new vacuum cleaner, and i have a puppy that use to like to pee on my bedroom rug, so i was wondering if theres a company out there that makes both in one. i havent seen it, but i thought i would ask.
YES!!!!!! Kirby does.... i just had them at my house and they even showed me how to use the steam cleaner. i liked the vacuum better . it got all kinds of pet hairs out of the furniture
Q: What are the OSHA regulations on repairing electrical cords on appliances like Vacuum cleaners?
OSHA only applies to regulations at work. Vacuum cleaners typically have a long cord with a two wire plug.
Q: I hear the Dyson Animal vacuum is the best thing out there but it has a very tall price tag.Is there anything similar that performs just as well that isnt so pricey?
oh yes there is. I'm a vacuum technician at a vacuum and sewing repair shop and i see every type of vacuum cleaner. Try a Riccar Vibrance Standard. It has WAAAAY more airflow (rated in cfm) then the dyson . You can't go by the motor rating because the dyson has a 12 amp motor just like every other vacuum. You have to physically but a meter on the end of the hose and you'll find a Riccar Vibrance series, or any bagged machine for that matte, will have tripple the air flow. The dyson has good sealed suction but you need both. As far as durability, the dyson is one of the cheapest vacuums i have worked on. A Riccar Vibrance will last AT LEAST twice as long. And contrary to one of the answers above, the reason the dyson fills up with dirt so fast isn't because its picking so much dirt up, its because the cyclonic action puffs up the dirt inside the cup filling it 5 times faster then a bagged vacuum. There are many good vacuums out there, don't fall prey to the great advertising that dyson has. Check out the Riccar Vibrance Standard. It retails for under $400.00 The sebo G1 is also good, but starts at 550.00 but that vacuum is an entire league above the dyson Best of luck
Q: So I like seen Jurassic Park again in the 3D room at my movie plex and then I realized something. I was vacuuming and a paper clip got sucked in then I recalled that when I hear the velociraptors.
They are turtles having sex. No joke that is what the noise is.
Q: I keep hearing about ones with bags, ones without, ones with filters, etc... What does it all mean?
You okorder .au I use it everyday without any problems, it picks up a bin full of dirt each time. The best thing is I dont have to do anything..
Q: We are researching buying one, an in one vacuum cleaner rather than having two vacuum cleaners. Is there a wood stove vacuum cleaner, and central vacuum cleaner multipurpose unit all in one unit ? Currently we already have an old central vacuum cleaner in the house and would rather buy a new central vacuum cleaner and a separate wood stove vacuum cleaner, hoping if anyone knows of a company and name of a vacuum unit that makes an all in one vacuum cleaner for both purposes ? Looking for the name(s) of a vacuum and company that may make a dual purpose central vacuum cleaner and wood stove vacuum cleaner, 2 in 1 unit ? Thank You For Reading My Question and Your Answers !
II wouldn't invest in a central unit because if you suck up wood ashes with a vacuum the house is going to burn down and the new central vac will go with it. Shovel out the ashes to a securely covered galvanized trash can. The can should be outside away from the house. Didn't your mama ever tell you not to play with fire? My brother made a good living off of people such as you, he was a fireman.
