- Q: In today's wide variety of packaging for drinks which is the most preferable with regards to Eco-friendliness? Glass, cardboard, glossy cardboard for tetra paks, tin and aluminum cans plastic and what have you?
- It depends on what the berverage is.In North America most,non-keg, beer is packaged in either a can or a standard long neck bottle. The bottle is standardized so that multiple breweries can sterilize and re-use them numerous times no matter what beer it had in it before 100% re-use which in my opinion is better than recycling(I admit I could be wrong about that though) because it doesn not have to be re-manufactured like a can would. For other beverages I'd have to say either glass bottles or cans because of the recycleability of them.
- Q: I need help with the electron configuration for:1AL3+ AND2VANDIUM 2- V2-PLS HELP AND EXPLAIN, I Understand the whole electron configuration concept but the Minuses/- are very confusing?

- Q: I could but I would have to drop three stories, hit the two cars parked outside, then hit my head on the pavement.that sucks hopefully this never happens.but what if it did.Would you make it?I keep putting aluminum foil in the microwave and it keeps catching on fire so hopefully I stop so this will never happen
- Yes, I have french doors onto my back porch from my bedroom I've put a metal bowl in the microwave.it was extremely sad the microwave died a very bright deathI have room if you need a place to stay if you contenue to have aluminum foil goofsburn the place down:) I have 8 exterior doors in case of fire;)
- Q: For a science experiment at school we are required to keep water cold, or hot rice warm in a can for 20 minutesI have wrapped my can in aluminum foil and then created a knitted stubby holder like thing, and covered the top, only leaving enough room to poke a thermometer through the holeSo my question is, should I choose to keep the water cool, or the rice warm? Please explain your answer ( I need to write why/ how my stubby holder will work) Thank you in advance! :)
- First off put the foil on the outside since it will reflect the outside temp better, the air pockets from the knitted stubby thing will hold air, and the foil will stop the air from leaving the pocketsAir is the poorest conductor of heat aside from a vacuumYou are also much better off trying to keep rice warm than water coldWater transfers heat about 30x faster than air does and still more so than solidsIts much easier to keep the rice warmIts like how a potato can still be hot hours after its been heatedIf the thermometer is in the center of the rice the outer layers of rice will loose heat first while the inner layers retain it, while water would heat up at a more even pace through out
- Q: Have you seen these in your area?
- No and noAlso no to leaving my city and state.
- Q: so i made a small water bong and i need something that will pack a fat bowl but without the nugs able to fall threw, i looked and i dont have a lot of things to use, what are so good ones though just in case im not thinking of the right stuff to use?
- Steal the screen out of the aerieator on the kitchen fawcet, and use aluminum foil for the sides of the bowl, wrap carefully and make sure the screen is securely wedged in at the bottomI don't know what you're using for the tube, so you can probably just have the foil extend below the screen an inch or so and crimp tape it to the tubePossibly the bottom part of the shell of a light socket would make a good bowl, (cut a circle of window screen slightly bigger than diameter of socket and wedge it inLeave some space under it (don't shove it completely to the bottomThe thread will fit 1/8 water pipe (same as the tubing that goes down the center of a tablelamp).
- Q: I have replaced the bulbs and the light will not workHubby says fuse needs to be replaced but I dont know how to do itAnd he wont do it for me.always at work or too tired! Thanks for your help!!!
- Fluorescent lights do not contain fusesThey contain a device called a ballast, which is a black brick-shaped device with a number of wires coming out; these occasionally fail, and can be replaced: new ones cost $10 to $20, depending on typeBut a more plausible failure point is the starter, which is a small aluminum cylindrical can-shaped device, about an inch long and 3/4 inch in diameterNOTE: many fixtures do not use starters, as the necessary functionality is provided by the ballastBut if yours does, try replacing it: turn the device about 1/8 turn to the left, and it will come outIt will have a designation such as FS-4 on it; get a replacement with the same designationStarters are cheapIf replacing the starter does not work, or there isn't one, replace the ballast: remove the old one (cut the wires that go to the lamps about in the middle of each wire, and unscrew the wire nuts that secure the black and white wires to the power supply) and take it to the hardware store for a suitable replacementTo install the new one, you will need some wire nuts to connect the wires from the new ballast to the old lamp socket wires.
- Q: why can you see one yourself on one side of aluminum foil but not the other?
- Aluminum foil is made by rolling sheets of aluminum through several sets of rollers, each set closer together to roll it a little thinner each timeTowards the end of the process, with the aluminum as thin as paper, they roll two sheets togetherI'm not sure why this is, but it might be that it makes it twice as thick so it's easier to rollAnyway, at the end of the process you have two sheets of aluminum foil rolled together so they have to be separated and then rolled onto cardboard rollsThe shiny side of the foil was on the outside, against the rollers, which are polished to a mirror finishThe dull side was on the inside, against the other sheet of foil.
- Q: The stainless steel tubes have a 5mm internal diameter so i would like to use a chemical to clean them rather than brushing or sandingOriginally i thought the white substance was dried NaOH but HCl or water have not removed itNow i am thinking that it must be some kind of aluminium depositPlease help by identifying what may have formed or even better how to get rid of it
- Aluminium metal reacts with NaOH to form a number of substancesThe most common is sodium aluminate, but it is also common to form the hydroxide - Al(OH)3This latter product is insoluble in water, but it should dissolve in acidThe choice of acid is a problemIf you are using type 304 stainless steel - or whatever the local equivalent is - do not use HCl because this grade of steel is atttacked by chloride ionsIf you are using type 316 stainless - you do not have a problem in this regardI suggest that you use H2SO4 to be safeYou need quite a concentrated solution of acid - so something like battery acid should be oKGive it time to reactI do not know what you were doing, but mixing NaOH with Al is not advisable, as you have discoveredAlso - unless you have specific training - be careful when dealing with concentrated acidsThey are dangerous.
