Q: I'm not sure if it was washed, so I quickly washed it with soap and war/hot water.I am cooking potatoes and notice a poison-like smellPerhaps it is the pan itself? Is this safe? I my food safe to eat?
No, not a poison like smell!! that is the rust resistant coating they put on the outside of the pan burning offIs ok! But I would still have done my cast iron burning before putting any food in it even if it says it is already seasoned I scour them inside and out with SOS or other soap steel wool pad, rinse well in very very hot to boiling water, grease them inside and out with CRISCO, put in oven at 400F on aluminum foil for an hourSmells like it is burning - that vicious odor you got. Then grease it again and cook it again - about 3 times on the insideYes! I scour my cast iron with steel wool soap pads!! Every time I use them! Mine were inherited from granddad who was a wagon boss with one of the old ranches in NM and had a full cook set of cast iron and he scoured it too! He would not eat with cooks who did not sterilize and reseason their cookware each meal.
Q: It consists of The Works toilet bowl cleaner and aluminum foil in a closed bottle.
If it is any sort of bomb that could explode, it is a crime to make or possess any such thing, without a license, let alone set one offMany amateur bomb-makers do us all a favor and blow themselves up while preparing or testing their concoctions.
Q: Is the aluminum foil tape radiation proof?
All I know is that copper foil can protect against radiation. Aluminum foil hasn't heard.
Q: Im 24 years old but have aspirations to be an inventorI have a ton of projects I would like to start but lack the necessary toolsI dont have a ton of money so I cannot buy a whole workshop.Im looking for type of saw that can be used for almost anything (aluminum, wood, metal, drywall, etc.) A type of saw that can cut unusual designs and shapes from most mediums would be greatHowever Im not sure what saws can handle these various applications?I was thinking along the lines of a Rotozip (the commercials make it seem like they can cut anything), or a circular saw, or a jigsaw. What would be best?
I would do what Justin wrote and as far as paint goes I would use small jars of different color Acrylic lacquer paints to paint your art workLacquer is what they use on Autos and is very hard and holds up in the elementsAlso when you are done I would use a can of clear lacquer spray to give it a few coats to protect the paintLet dry between coats. It then should last for 8 or many more years Clean the box real good down to the metal and primer, basically what Justin wrote and then go from thereYou can find this paint at any auto store or craft store, they come in small bottles with twist of caps.
Q: I'm planning on setting up a gigabit network in my house, and I'd really like to run cat5e because it's half the price of cat6, the longest cable run being maybe 75'First, is the a good idea? Second, I was going to run the wire through some pvc to guide it though, and I was wondering if I could somehow line the tube with foil, would that act as another shield? I thought it might help, but I don't want to do it if its useless or would hurt.
You have to let it cool or it will be soggyAfter it is cool there is plenty of moisture in banana bread to keep it from being dryI wrap mine in wax paper and then in foil.

Q: So my partner and I went on a couples fishing trip with his bossman and his wife-all together we caught 7 kepepers (all croaker) and they generously gave us the ones they caughtlIt's been years since I've kept fish to eat that we've caught-I just don't like killing things (I'm a maim and release kinda person), however I still remember how scale, gut, clean, de-head, the whole shebang with no problemWhen I used to go fishing with my momma years ago and we kept fish, she'd always fry them up, but my partner isn't all that into fried fish, so here's the question:Do you have a favorite recipe on cooking croaker, preferably baked, broiled, grilled, whatever? If you have a fried recipe that all your friends and family rave about, feel free to share it and I may be tempted to try it, but mostly looking for something that doesn't include fryingAlso, a picture to go along with your recipe would be GREATLY appreciated, but not mandatoryAfter all, we eat with our eyes first.

Q: I was wondering how the pvc pipe wouldn't melt since it would usually melt if you held a fire to itI was going to use a galvanized steel pipe, but those are a bit costly.
Yes, fiber pills are ok but natural fibers that come with your intake of food is much betterIt seems like you have a good plan on how to lose weightthe hard part is sticking with it and not going back to your old lifestyle when you do lose weightIf you slowly but surely chip away at your weight, you'll lose it and keep it off tooGood luck.
Q: I got the pan for Mother's DayThe box it came in says its pre-seasonedI'm planning on making turkey, roasted pepper and mozzerella panini'sAny tips?
All new (not old pots) cast-iron pots and skillets have a protective coating on them, which must be removedAmerican companies use a special food-safe wax; imports are covered with a water-soluble shellacIn either case, scrub the item with a stainless steel scouring pads (steel wool), using soap and the hottest tap water you can standTHE ONLY TIME THE PAN SHOULD EVER SEE SOAP OR SCOURING PADS! The single most important thing you can do for your Cast Iron Cookware is take good care of it! With proper maintenance, your cookware will last a lifetime only to get better and better with age So what's the key? CURING IT! After it's cured you can clean your cast iron with boiling water and a piece of aluminum foilNEVER use soaps or detergentsNEVER use a scouring pad.
