- Q: What methods do 2 wheel drive, 4 wheel drive and front wheel drive cars use to transfer motion to the wheels, what are the advantages and disadvantages of each.
- 4 Wheel Drive is the best. though All Wheel Drive is basically the same thing. Either of those beats front or rear wheel drive. Those people up top don't know what they are talking about. If you have 4 wheels providing the power then you have better ability to stay on the road. I live in Colorado and it is very, very icy here. My car is 4wd, my friend has front wheel drive. he can go half as fast as me and still be sliding out everywhere while I'm going twice as fast with no problems at all.
- Q: Hi, I just got my new skateboard this morning, and I think my wheels are too bigis that ok?Thanks
- examine out the BBc internet site you migyht get what you decide on. I even have enormous wheels yet i dont skate on the ramp, so i dont understand. execs use small wheels. why dont you in ordinary terms get a sparkling premade skateboard?
- Q: My rear driver‘s side wheel is vibrating on my 2001 Hyundai Sonata. It seems to vibrate worse at highway speeds. the wheel vibrated with my old tire (before it went flat), with the donut, and after 4 new tires and a front end alignment (for an unrelated vibrating issue), it continues to shake the entire vehicle. But I have also noticed that when I go around a left curve, (and turn the wheel to the left), the vibration disappears. When the wheel is straightened back out, the vibration returns. I‘ve heard it could be the wheel itself, but the donut is a completely different wheel that still vibrated. When I take the wheel off and turn the rotor, it doesn‘t spin smoothly, and makes a scraping sound during the revolution (possibly rubbing on the brake pads?). Is this part of my problem? I have had the entire wheel bearing assembly replaced in that wheel within the last 2 years. Any advice on what this could be would be very helpful. Thank you.
- It SEEMS LIKE its coming from the rear. Its not. Its not even the wheels at all. It is the steering gear box. I am a professional and had the same problem MANY TIMES! If it was the wheels, it would be the same all the time. Since it is not the same all the time it is the steering gearbox or something in the steering mechanism. Also you said you took off the wheel and spin it. Scraping noise is normal when the wheel is off
- Q: I just got a new skateboard that came complete with everything (trucks, bearings, wheels, etc.). Everything is of pretty good quality with the exception of the wheels. So my question is: do the wheels make much of a difference when riding or doing a trick?
- It matters because when you try to go faster or do a trick, there are different types of wheels. If you want a smooth ride or a controlled one you need a special type of wheel.
- Q: Which vehicle is better on snowy, and / or icy roads? Front wheel drive, all wheel drive. or 4 wheel drive??
- you can if it,s automatic. i saw people use a condenser for an air conditioner unit. you know on cars with air conditioners you can hook up 1 of those and have your transmission lines run into it. that way if it overheats then it won,t burn the transmission fluid.
- Q: I have a 2000 dodge neon. The wheel is loose. Is this normal? If not, can I get it fixed and how? PLEASE HELP!
- Describe where it is loose . Is it the wheel itself ? Or the column ? Is it a lot of play in the front end ? If you give us a little more info we could narrow it down for you . Most things can be tightened up fairly easily .
- Q: So i heard that the bigger the wheels the better it is on the road. Is dat true or does it depend on its Durometer ? And i was gonna buy some Element brand wheels.
- It's both. Larger wheels and softer wheels are better for the road. Try Ricta Clouds.
- Q: what steer does front wheel drive and rear wheel drive car cause? which is more preferable in racing?
- Any vehicle can experience both conditions. RWD cars are more prone to over-steering and FWD cars are more prone to under-steering but these conditions certainly aren't limited to either chassis layout.
- Q: i am going to be purchasing a 2002 lexus is 300 here in a couple days and i am just curious about its winter driving capabilities since i live in minnesota. ive heard real wheel drive cars are worse in snow, but ive also heard that its really a matter of getting used to driving with the rear wheel drive. im looking for anyone who can help me understand if it will truly be more difficult or if buying some blizzaks or something will take care of any slippery problems.
- Practice driving in winter weather: If you're learning to drive, or are unfamiliar with driving in snowy and icy weather conditions, practice after a storm in a large, empty parking lot with a seasoned driver. Practice how to brake safely, learn to get out of a skid, and how your car handles in winter weather. This can actually be a lot of fun! Put a few sandbags directly over the rear axle if--and only if--you have a rear-drive vehicle. This isn't the safest idea. The weight of the sand provides more pressure on tires to provide better traction, but the added weight in the rear of your car decrease maneuverability and braking because the added weight will increase momentum and if too much is added it could sling the rear of the car out in a turn. The sand in the bags could be used to provide traction when you're stuck by pouring some sand in front of the slipping tires. When they're in your car, tie them down if they're in the passenger area so that they don't move or fly around if you do end up swerving. But be very careful when braking if the forces on your car are not equally distributed (e.g. braking while turning), because you will have the tendency to spin backwards. Look ahead and keep a very safe distance from the vehicles in front of you (double the distance you normally would). Keep scanning the vehicles in front of you and look out for brake lights. If you've kept your distance you should be able to bring your vehicle to a stop with distance to spare, instead of having to slam on your brakes and sliding into the vehicles in front of you. Ease up on the gas if your car starts to slip in place while you're trying to accelerate from a standstill. Remember, the wheels have better traction when they are not slipping. If you have an automatic transmission put the selector lever to 2. Most cars lock the transmission in second gear to facilitate easier starting from a slippery surface.
