- Q: When driving my citroen c2 vts my passenger side front wheel makes a loud knocking noise. I have replaced the ball joint and all tie rods SEEM to be straight and in tact but it is difficult to say for definite. As when pushing and pulling the wheel it is hard to see the tie rods clearly . - Maybeprobably. If you're just wanting to use the front hub and throw on a different axle/freewheel then no, that's impossible. But if you want to disassemble the wheel, re-use the rim and lace it to a rear hub, then yes, you can do that. You may have to get new spokes if the new rear hub requires a different length than what was used with your front hub (same rim), but that just depends on what you get. It's a job for a skilled mechanic and if you've never done any wheel building I wouldn't suggest that you try it out this time, especially for a rear wheel. Besides, you'll probably find out that it will be much cheaper to just buy a new complete rear wheel once you add up all the costs involved.
