Description
Ferro Silicon is a kind of ferroalloy which is composed of ferrum and silicon. Ferro Silicon uses coke, quartz (or silica) as raw materials and is made by electric furnace. Because silicon and oxygen are easily compound into SiO2, the ferrosilicon is often used as deoxidizer in steelmaking.
Application
1. Ferrosilicon is often used as deoxidizer in steel- making.
2. Ferrosilicon also can be used as alloy elements join agent, which is widely used in low alloy steel, non-ferrous metal, bearing steel, heat-resistant steels and electrician silicon-steel.
3. It can be used as a reductant in ferroalloy production and chemical industry.
4. In iron industry it can be used as inoculant and nodulizer.

- Q: Okay, I got into this discussion with my roommate debating which of these genres is better. He says he thinks bands like Slipknot and Korn are better because they have a more aggressive stage presence and deep meaningful lyrics. I'm not saying they suck, I'm just saying that I believe that old metal bands are far better than new metal.I will agree with him that there are some pretty good guitarists in those kinds of bands, but with lyrics like I will eat your heart then wear it as a hat I have a hard time comprehending with that. I told him that it was because of bands like Led Zeppelin, ACDC, Aerosmith, and Van Halen that these new metal bands exist. Bands like Slipknot may be good in the musical talent sense, but they'll never be as big or as iconic as Led Zeppelin. Plus, I know for a fact that these guys wouldn't come as close as good as Jimi Hendrix, Eric Clapton, or Eddie Van Halen. So what do you guys think? Winner Gets 10 points!!!!!

- Oh yeah I noticed on youtube that you uploaded those. I didn't watch it through both as of yet, but I will surely comment on the YouTube videos once I do. My top Metal Bands: 1 Bang Camaro (Though they define themselves as Anthem Rock) 2 Iron Maiden 3 Black Sabbath 4 Judas Priest 5 Dio 6 Metallica 7 Valient Thorr 8 Helloween 9 HammerFall 10 Ozzy Osbourne [Mainly first two albums] That list will probably be different tomorrow. I'm so indecisive! But I am excluding some bands like Blue Oyster Cult, Led Zeppelin, UFO, and other bands like that simply because I don't think they are Heavy Metal. But they are among my favorite bands. BA1: I really like metal. I think the border line for hard rock/metal leads to a lot of arguments and disagreements, but I try not to get into those. - I'm assuming that you are asking about acids and bases in water in my answer. Metals should not be considered as bases in a direct sense, because their reaction with water, if any, must first involve oxidation - in which the metal donates electrons to water and the water reacts to form hydrogen gas, plus hydroxide (so, yes, after reaction the solution is basic). Some metals (so called active metals) do this reaction - these include all the group 1 and group 2 metals (Li, Na, K, Rb, Ba, Ca, Sr, and Ba - with Mg the reaction is slow and it is very slow for Be). Other metals will not react with water at all (like silver or gold), other only react with acidic aqueous solutions. In all cases where reaction occurs, there is oxidation of metal AND formation of hydroxide (or reaction of the hydroxide formed with H+). Metal oxides of electropositive metals often react to form hydroxides, which can then dissolve as bases. The metal hydroxides are bases (or yield the base hydroxide when they dissolve). Added note: Electropositive metals are those from which taking an electron is relatively easy - the most electropositive metals are those on the left hand side of the periodic table (like those I listed.)
