- Q:I have a few cheap LED flashlights that I would like to power with a 7.6 volt R/C car battery pack. I used to power a regular bike light with it, but the bulb was for 7.5 volts. I'd like to go LED for better battery life. All the LED lights use 3 1.5 aaa batteries. Do I need to add anything (resitors, capacitors, etc.), or are they already in there? Any help would be great.
- That is a complex problem. First you need to know what specific bulb you are dealing with . Most white LED's typically run between 3.7 to 4.2 Vdc , and require 20-30 mA each to run at their full output. You say that the 3 AAA batteries are what they ran on originally, so that means that they could have only been setup as a parallel circuit, if they were in series that would require at least 36 volts. But you do not know the specifics, so here is how you start: Assume that the max voltage of the bulbs is 4.0 Vdc x 9 bulbs @ 20 mA each , powered by 7.6 vdc One 22 ohm 1 watt resistor @ 30mA each you would need one 15 ohm 1 watt resistor , but be careful you could shorten the life , or not, trial and error is the only way to know. Radio shack does sell a 22 ohm 1/2 watt resistor, and it would get hot, so you need to go to a specialty electronics(radio shack is not anymore) shop and find exactly what you need for around a buck. Oh and you cant take two 22 ohm 1/2 watt resistors and run them in series, that would result in 11ohms at 1 watt, and a bulb life of around 40ms.
- Q:1)I have an R/C plane with a battery pack that is 9.6V250mAIm looking for backup battery packs, my question is, is this an okay battery to buy it looks the same but I know little about electronics2)If it sounds like i can buy the other battery, what voltage/mA can i go up too, Because I want the longest flight time /capacity
- 1.) I believe that you got the units wrong. mA is a unit of current, mAh is a unit of energy. Don't get the two confused. 2.) If you want to increase the duration of your plane, then what you need is a battery with a higher mAh capacity. mAh dictates the amount of energy the battery has. Thus the more energy the battery has(measured in mAh), the longer lasting your plane would be. Get a battery with a higher mAh and then your plane will last longer. However there is one thing that you must consider. Not that many battery companies post the mAh rating of the battery on the actual battery itself. Thus you may want to visit the companies website to find the exact battery specifications you need. 3.) The voltage rating of the battery must remain the same, or you risk damaging the internal electronics inside the circuit. Unless of course the circuit has a voltage regulator(Nowadays almost everyone uses a regulator). If the battery that you purchase is within tolerance I would def. use it as well. I would get any battery that has a higher maH rating and any voltage upto 10.6V. 4.) The current rating does not matter for the battery.
- Q:I have a battery pack that looks like it's 16 D batteries joined together with single plug. Seems to be a pack that would be used to power display merchandise in stores, such as games.
- By value do you mean cash value? I have no idea. Probably not much, who wants the expense of buying 16 D cells. If you electrical value, it will depend on how the batteries are connected together. It could be anywhere from 1.5 volts up to 48 volts.
- Q:I have an electric scooter with a brand new 24 volt battery pack. When I charge the battery the voltage gets as high as 28 volts or more. I bought a brand new charger that has a 1.8 amp output rating. The charger light stays red while charging and should shut off when it turns green. So far I have not let the charger charge until the green light comes on. I am concerned that I am overcharging the battery. Right now my multimeter reads 28.48 volts. Is this normal? Thanks in advance.
- You sound like Steven Wright: I bought a pack of batteries, but they weren't included, so I had to by them again. AA
- Q:I just bought an RC truck, and the manual says to charge it for at least 8 hours on the first two initial charges. It's been 6 hours on the first charge, and I really want to play with it. But I don't want to ruin the battery.
- Ruit it you wont. However. They suggest two longer chargers the first couple of times to settle the battery in. NiCDs suffer from memories. For example. If you charge a 2000 milliamp 7.2v sitck pack to 1500 milliamp each time, then eventually it will only charge to 1500. Stick with the manual. You'l get better performance and life from your kit.
- Q:I just got the Xbox elite today but i havent opened it yet because i have exams yh. I just want to know how the whole Xbox controller work do you have to put batteries in everytime it runs out and whats the average time a fully charged controller will last 4? My two older and younger brothers have PS3's and on theres u just plug a usb into the system and into the pad and it charges. What about the Xbox what happens when it runs out doesnt in come with like a controller charger like the PS3 where you just connect it and it charges? Or do you have to use two batteries each time it runs out?Whats the average time a fully charged Xbox Elite Controller lasts for? If u dnt have an exact value just an estimate like 2hrs or 16hrs on 3days etc. Thanks!
- Hey, Thanks for your reply. Well, mine lasts up to a week or more, but I'm not an avid gamer. I'd do about 3 hours every other day. So I would estimate around 4-6 days maybe less, maybe more. A good tip: I bought (A long time ago) a double A battery kit that came with 10 rechargeable batteries and the charger. I've had over 2 years now and they still work perfectly. Better, because I can use them on my 360 and my younger brothers on their Wii. As well as my Digicam, etc. So I'd look more into that than buying the rechargeable batts that come for the Xbox and can only be used on so. Enjoy your Xbox before it gets the RRoD. :)
- Q:What almost all of the remote control cars, are using the battery pack, can not use the No. 5 battery?
- These are battery packs, one is convenient and safe, and the other is to save money.
- Q:I was looking for a cheap battery pack and found this 8.4V 1600mAh NiMH Flat Battery Pack for Airsoft Guns.Is this reliable???Why or why not
- If it fits in an airsoft gun, or it says its for airsoft guns, why wouldn't it be reliable? Just don't overcharge it.
- Q:If i made a battery pack of 13 batteries, each 3.7V 4000mAh in series, then i would get a battery pack output of 48.1V 4000mAh (assuming thats correct).my question is, how would i go about charging the pack? or bertter put, what kind of charger should i be looking for to safley charge the pack?im clueless on how to go about charging it, any advice would help, thanks.
- The charger will be related to the types of batteries. There are specific charges designed to work with individual battery types. The poor man's way of charging is to get a power supply that is capable of producing 60Vdc at at least 5A so you can dial in the voltage to what the batteries will take.
