Q: I have a canon powershot a2300 that I bought new only a few months ago. I haven't used it in about a month, but I picked it up about 3 days ago and it was working fine the last two days but today everytime I turn it on, it just turns back off and gives me the message change battery pack. How are you charging the battery? I have a friend that tries to charge his through the USB cable instead of the charger that came with it. It took a while to convince him to use the charger but now his camera works. Amazing. Charge the battery in the charger for 4 hrs. and try again. If it still doesn't work you need to contact Canon and use the 1 year warranty they give you with the camera. It could be a battery that went bad, a bad charger or a problem in the camera itself.

Q: First off, I hope I am in the right place to ask this question, I don't really know where to go for help for this.To start, I am trying to make a portable battery to charge USB devices. So a 5 volt output. I am trying to do it cheaply, under 20 bucks. I have a bunch of laptop batteries laying around and no laptops to use them in. The one I am looking at using is a toshiba PA3383U-1BRS, It is a 14.8v 6450mAh battery. the cells inside are 12 of these -- SF US18650GR. I want to know how or if I can re arrange the cells to get the most battery life out of it. I dont know how it would be charged, what protection/charging circuts would be needed or anything like that. I know next to nothing about how this all works but my common sense says that it would be better to get the output of the pack as close to 5v as possible before doing anything with voltage regulators, to keep it efficient. Let me know what I have to do/ what I cant do/ why I am wrong/ if you need more info etc. thanks a ton guys!
To make 5 volts battery pack,take 4 piece small cells out from Toshiba 14.4V battery pack. You need to know which cell is still good. Put 4 cells in series shall do.

Q: I have some things in my circuit that need about 11v and others that need about 7v. Could I make a 12v battery pack and then just tap in at the 7.2v and 12v point. For instance with 10 batteries in series at 1.2v that would be 12v from the first to the last but if i also have a wire coming out from the 7.2v point after 6 cells. These would be rechargable nimh cells so if i did this would they become off balance and not charge right ? Like would the first 6 discharge more than the second six and then when I want to charge all 10 it would mess up those six ?
You answered your own question. Yes the bottom cells could completely discharge (and possibly reverse charge) which is disastrous for the battery pack.

ok, there is no battery grip for a D50 (as long as your refering to the extra perice that supply vertical shuter launch and double battery capability like the BGD200 for the D200). Nikon would not make one for the D50
