- Q: I'm 66 and not very knowledgeable about computers. I'm trying to learn how to cut and paste on my mini mac. The keyboard quit working a while back and I replaced it with a pc keyboard. The pc has a ctrl key and the mac has a command key. I was told they do the same thing, but Best Buy Geek squad tells me I need to get a mac keyboard with the command key to be able to cut and paste.Is that true?

- Used to be, most USB keyboards also understood how to talk to the old PS/2 ports, and all you needed was a physical adapter to change the USB plug to a PS/2 plug. However, lately, keyboard manufacturers have taken out PS/2 support and the keyboards ONLY know USB. Look at the label on the keyboard to see if it claims to support PS/2. If it only says USB, you need a different keyboard - one that supports PS/2. --N
- Q: i recently had some upgrades done on my hp desktop. when i hooked it back up the keyboard wasnt working. i went into the control panel to see if i could fix it and the app for my keyboard has disappeared. how can i fix this? recovery is not an option
- There are a number of things you can do to try and fix this. First, I would recommend disconnecting your keyboard and then reconnecting it. However, some computers are set up so they will not detect hardware such as a keyboard or mouse while the system is operating. If reconnecting your keyboard doesn't fix the problem, I suggest restarting the computer to see if that helps. If that doesn't work, you might need to buy a new keyboard. Until then, you can go to AccessoriesEase of AccessOn-screen Keyboard (which is what I assume you are using now, considering you were able to type your question somehow).

- The cheapest keyboards can be bought from around $100. The're the the really cheap ones, with the horrible response and other stuff. If you truly want a good keyboard, then you might want to save some more, because the really good keyboards start from about $700-$800 and can go up to about $2500. You could get a good one for $500, but in my opinion, getting a keyboard, no matter how good, isn't worth it. If you're going to take piano exams or perform recitals, you'll probably need a small piano, even a really smal on. The reason being, the touch between a good piano and a keyboard is so much difference, that when you practice on a keyboard, then move onto a piano, you can't play properly, because the key are much harder to press. I should be shutting up now, because this has nothing to do with your question, but whatever. Back to your question. The best brand for a keyboard would probably be Yamaha. Surprising, most if the the really good piano manufacturers don't make keyboards. But Yamaha does. And it does a pretty good job at it too. The Yamaha keyboard have the hardest touch to them, making themselves the closest to an actual piano. The model I recommend for this is the Yamaha Clarinova series. These keyboards are absolutely wonderful, and they feel and sound like a real piano. I actually couldn't tell the difference when I heard it. The cheapest ones are from $750, I think. The real expensive ones go to like $1770. There a other good keyboards out there, but many beyond my knowledge. So research some more, and choose the on that's right for you. Cheers Y.k.
- Q: I opened my keyboard to clean it. It's an old keyboard. Anyway there was a black cord inside next separated from the circuit cord where the colored cords are connected. When I opened the keyboard it was on top the circuit board. Now I'm not sure where it goes and my keyboard isn't working. Microsoft Coperation model K290. It's an old keyboard
