- Look in the market for the ones that use water and not a filter. These do not let mites flying free in the air as all the dust passes through the water. From time to time the models change. I am allergic and those are the ones I prefer.

- Oh gosh -- my sister has one, and I ask to borrow it whenever I can. I have a really good vacuum, too, but her Dyson has stuff I really like -- for example, the hose and attachments are right there and you don't have to stop vacuuming to hook anything up if you want to clean the baseboards or edges of furniture. Also, it really does move easily and can get under and around stuff than my vacuum can't. One idea, though, to save you some money -- my sister got hers almost brand new off of Craigslist for less than half of what the new one would be, and the warranty papers and all of that stuff was there just in case. She hasn't had any problems though.

- I have only owned one robot vacuum, and that's a Roomba Discovery. I LOVE IT!!! I do still vacuum weekly with my regular vacuum. Roomba will only get floors, and won't vacuum couches, beds, etc. This may not make a big difference to you, but if you have pets like me it's huge. Anyway, back to the question at hand. I love my Roomba. I sit it in the middle of a room once or twice a week and it keeps everything cleaner. I dust less. It's easier to vacuum when I do use the regular vacuum. If you have large open areas, you may also want to invest in the longer life battery. As for others, I have only heard what other people think. And ALL have said that the only one to own is the Roomba Discovery. I guess I lucked out starting with that one. I saw on the iRobot website the other day that they have a newer one called a Dirt Dog, or something like that. I believe that's designed for pet hair pick up so that's something to keep in mind. Cons - not many. It vacuums for you. You don't do much.

- I have been in the cleaning business for 20 years and have had some experience with vacuum cleaners. I think you could have an excellent vacuum for around $300-$400. (Panasonic, Sanyo, Sharp) After seeing the Rainbow demonstrated, I just don't think they are worth the money. I also don't get how they clean the air. Basically, they are passing the dirty air over some water (not through it). and call this cleaning the air and filtering out the dirt. Check out some of the above vacuums online and save yourself some Christmas money. I just recently bought a Sanitaire SC6600 for our house and we really like it. Paid Approx. $325.00. It is commercial, 2 motor system, tools and stretch hose on board, carpet or hard floors (your can turn the beater brush off and just have air flow). Hope this helps.
- Q: my son is Absolutely terrified of vacuum cleaners even if its off hes ok as long as its put away he used to love it ive never chased him with it or anything ive tried letting him touch it his father has even tried we have tried letting our son push it but he wont all he does is scream shake and try to get away i don't know what to do i cant just go with out vacuuming and i don't have anyone that can just come over for the day to help ive tried vacuuming when hes asleep but it wakes him up any suggestions and no rude comments im just wondering if i should by him a toy vacuum and then maybe tell him to help mommy and just to let you know he is alot smarter than the average 8 month old he is already saying scentences like have a nice day i love you where you at how are you doing and some others please help it hurts to see hes that terrified of vacuums and that i have to do it
- They are scary, the make loud noises they are three times the size of an 8 month old. I would be terrified of something like that to. This is a phase and he will get over it, just vacuum RIGHT when he wakes up before you grab him from his crib. I had to do this for about 4 months with my son. Then my boyfriend vacuumed while he was on my lap a couple times, then he was fine, but you will have to wait till he is older i think. ADDITION: If there are days where your son doesn't nap and it is just the two of you I guess you'll have to skip vacuuming for the day
