Q:It needs to be 8 feet by 10 feet and just be plain light creamish color. No designs, or swirls, or anything, just a light colored area rug! I cant find just a regular PLAIN one anywhere (not shag rug, just wool)... Any ideas or links are greatly appreciated!: For just a plain rug with no design like you want, the best thing is to go to your local mom and pop type carpet store. Pick out a carpet that meets your color needs. It ll come 12 ' wide so order a pc 12x8 and you can ( or they can) easily cut it to the size you want . They will bind the edges or have the carpet sent out to be done ( very common). You can even choose color of binding ( same as most rugs) or choose to have it surged, a different edging type. Q:Okay so I'm renting a home. I had an emergency and i had to leave town. I was going to take my dog to a kennel but my roomate said he would look after her. So I left her with him and she ended up peeing a lot in one certain place. When I came back about two weeks later the carpet reeked of urine. I rented rug doctor and tried washing it but it didn't work. Then i got natures miracle and poured all of it but it didn't work. Then I tried simple solution, like the whole bottle and it still smells. I cant rip out the carpet because its not mine. Please help me.: We have always had good luck with Nature's Miracle. I know they have it at PetSmart but I would assume they sell it in a variety of stores. If the carpet is dry now you can get a few big boxes of baking soda and sprinkle it over the carpet, let it work for a few days and then heavy vacuum. It is cheap so spread on a good thick coat of it.

Q:We are going to re-carpet my grandmothers living room, but she is very sensitive to smells. Is there a certain kind of carpet with limited quot;new carpet smellquot;?: there are some carpets that don't off-gas as much smell, but here's a tip that interior designers do for commercial installations: As soon as the carpet is laid, close all the windows tight and turn the heat up really high 90 if you can, let the heat run for at least a few hours, overnight is best. This will burn up 90% of the new carpet smell, its also good for anytime you paint, vanish, or glue. Then turn the heat down and open a few windows and let some fresh air in. This is done in most large commercial buildings before people occupy it since industrial carpets, glue, and paint are a little more toxic. Sometimes they'll let it bake for 24 hours to get rid of any smells. Otherwise it may take a few weeks for the smell to go away

Q:I just spilled nail polish remover (yes, REMOVER) on my carpet...will anything happen to the carpet? How long does it take for the smell to go? I have my fan on...does that do anything? Please help - my room stinks!!: I do hope you cleaned the Carpet real well as soon as you spilled it. I would be surprised if it did not remove some of the color of your carpet..I had a friend who did that also and it did remove the color and she had saved a piece of the Carpet that was left over after it was laid. So she cut a small piece out to fit the place she had destroyed with the Polish remover. I hope you have some spare carpet pieces around...

Q:They prefer dry food to wet. I am feeding them IAMS kitten food....I have washed the throw rugs but what is best to use on the carpet and how do i keep them from peeing again? They were just at the Animal Coaltion in June...and were pronounced healthy....: Wash the throw rugs in a normal wash with a cup of white vinegar, followed by a regular washing. As for the carpet underneath, I have given a link that gives you several alternatives, all cheap and easy and fast. If the odors are not totally eliminated, they will return there over and over. In the event there is a litter box issue, I have provided a second link. I would also suggest you get them a fountain to encourage water drinking, even through that is not high right now on your agenda. And, just mentioning IAMS will draw out some strong haters of IAMS, but I don't see anything wrong with it, provided plentiful water is available.

Are there paint shields specifically designed for stairs? Thanks: Shove it between the wall and carpet, lever it down, paint wall, remove. WIPE OFF PAINT BEFORE REINSTALLING TO PAINT NEXT SECTION! A thin piece of sheet metal will do the same thing.
