- Q: How do you create a door or invite Fairies (Fae) into your garden or home?
- Depending on the type of Fae you wish to invite, you can give an offering. A plate of sweet Honey cakes is a good one. Some Fae prefer something shiny, so a chain, pendant, or ring. Have a large area cleared of iron, and make the area look earthy/natural. It is also wise to try to make clear that you have no intent to harm or trick them. Be warned, though. Some Fae like to play tricks, and some do not appreciate humans.

Do you know of any specific brand or kit that I should use? Links to what you are taking about would be great. Thanks!
- A watering can, ha ha. But really, if you want to control the flow of water to each specific plant or area without waste, doing it by hand is the most precise way.
- Q: Whats a good website or magazine for home decorating?
- your okorder , because most decorating magazines are country styles.
- Q: I just read in my local paper that tilling the garden every years is NOT a good idea! I have a small community garden which a neighbor dutifully tills for us, does an amazing job, but the article said that too much tilling upsets the eco-system of the soil.Any thoughts and advise on this before we till for spring (we live in Cleveland, OH)
- As a retired farmer and avid gardener here in North Dakota I've seen big changes with no till agriculture but it's use in the home garden is slow to catch on. When I moved in to this home it was barren blow sand over hard pan. For the first five years I used a tiller to mix the sand, clay and tons of amendments to the soil for raised beds and then I sold the tiller. I now practice no till techniques on all my gardens and my soil now looks like premium potting soil. In fact I use my soil to start seeds after it's been pasteurized. I leave all my garden debris to be overwintered. In the spring I cut the stems off at the soil line and leave the roots in the ground to slowly decompose and create water channels and provide some breathing room for earthworms. When I first moved the ground was full of worms and night crawlers but tilling reduced their numbers dramatically, now they have returned. Soil becomes sterile if you pound it into dust all the time. My next goal is to sell my lawnmower. RScott

- Q: I have looked at Lowes, Home Depot, Garden stores and I still can't find replacements seat and canaopy cushions for my outdoor garden swing do they even sell replacements?
- Yes, I live in the midwest I see them all the time at Walmart, Lowe's, Target. You might look online have them shipped to you.
- Q: I am about to purchase a new manufactured home that is 2038 sq feet. It is a very open floor plan with vaulted ceilings. I live in Oklahoma and it can get hot here. There are just two of us. I will be buying the central air unit myself. Any suggestions for size and or manufacturer that would best fit my needs?
- I would guess a 2.5 ton air conditioner would be plenty but if you post this question in home and garden you would get more technically oriented people. You also might be able to find an online calculator that would help you figure the right size as well or ask the service people in your area or the dealer. I think it is harder to get the right brand than the right size. Look at EER ratings and the cost savings between various brands. There are also calculators online that can estimate the differences in EER. I also would check around to see what tax credits might be available for a new a/c both federal and perhaps from the local electric co. Anyway, congrats on the new home and good luck.
- Q: I am looking to subscribe to a megazine, and i'm interested in Lanscaping and vegetable gardening, what megazine should i subscribe to?
- home and garden
