Q: So on my ceiling fan I have a white, black, green, and blue wire. In the ceiling I have a green, white, black, red, and bronze wire. What gets connected to what? Thanks for the help!
Typically bronze is ground so attach it to the blue wire. white is neutral so attach the two whites wires together. All the other colors in this example are hot or power, one will go to the lights on the fan and the other willpower the fan, In other words black to black and red, the blue wire in the picture is a grouned
Q: wiring for generator
There are only two ways to hook up a generator to a house. The right way and the wrong way. While the wrong way may work, it is unsafe, illegal and actually could kill someone down the line. The safe, proper and legal way is to install a transfer switch. WARNING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I have seen the local power company sue people for liability because they hook up the generator to the dryer's receptacle and when the back-feed hit the transformer down the line, it killed the pperson who working to restore the power. PLEASE, if you do this, do it the legal way. Good luck and may God bless!
Q: im throwing in a radio in my 2002 f-150 and i need the color codes for the truck radio wires
if you have not cut the factory harness off that connects to the stock radio then go and buy a radio harness kit
Q: Replaced the old fan in my bathroom (about 10 years old) with a new fan. Trouble is this. The fan and light each work on a seperate bathroom switch. I have two spots to install the wire on the new bathroom fan/light. One for the fan and one for the ligth. However, the wiring has one white, one black, one red and the ground. Anyone know what the red is? Can I just cap it off? According the bathroom fan wiring it says something about connecting red to blue. I am slighty confused. I think it was originally only wired between the white and black. I am not sure if I have to get some extra wire and connect the black and red to the light and the white to the fan? Extra wire is confusing.
Red and black are both hot, white is neutral. Use black for fan and red for light or vice versa, depending on which switch you want to operate each one. Added - Have to hook up the white neutral wire to both the fan and the light, this creates the electrical circuit needed. You can attach all the white wires together with a wire nut.
Q: Does anybody know of a How to Guide... or a tutorial or something to help me wire a Telecaster for a project? I'm pretty new at this and I want to make sense of the wiring diagrams I've found and make sure I don't screw anything up, thank you.
And it is hundreds of similar resources, which may indicate you haven't really used the search engines. Just enter search terms like: telecaster wiring, guitar wiring, guitar schematics, guitar wiring diagrams and so on.
Q: so there are 3 different wires coming into the switch. 1 black wire and 2 white wires going to the attic fan (i assume one for high and one for low). the power seems to be coming from the black wire which has inside of it, one white wire (neutral) one black wire (hot) and one bare wire (ground).. the same for the 2 white wires. the switch goes up (^) for high and down (v) for low and has 3 places to attach the wires to. the top, the bottom and the middle.. can someone tell me how to wire this damn thing?
I think you are describing NM cables(Romex). What you have is: 1 black romex with a hot(black) a neutral(white) and a bare ground. and 2 white romexs with a black, white, bare each. right so far? What you probably have is the hot and neutral going to the switch j-box (black romex) and the 2 white romexs go from the switch to the fan j-box. I think I need more info. Do you have a test meter? Are you sure the black romex is the Hot and Neutral? When the wires are disconnected are there other things that don't have power to them? Did you undo the neutral splice? If you could send this info I think I can walk you thru it.
Q: The light fitting I bought has 1x Red Wire (A) 1x Green Wire (E) and 1x Blue Wire (N)...
The green wire is just a ground wire, black is usually the hot wire, that would leave the blue wire as the neutral wire. The white wire in house wiring is the neutral. The two red and one black from your wall is not standard in the USA, but it may be 220 volts. What kind of light fixture are you replacing, is it on a ceiling fan?
Q: I bought a cheap amp wiring kit so the ground wire is not the same size as the power wire but my friend gas me an extra piece of 8 gauge wire same as mine if i put both of these to on at the same time would it help out any? also he gave me some audio cable like the wires inside are twisted to gather the box says it gives you better sound quality would they make a difference in sound that the one's i have on there know? Thanks
NO, you need to buy thicker wire because electricity follows the path of least resistance which means if one of the wires is 1/8 of an inch longer than the other, that is the wire the most electricity will flow through, as far as the speaker wire it wont make a difference unless it is thicker than what you already have installed (its very hard to tell the difference in sound quality even with very high quality speakers
Q: i have old wiring for a stove that iam putting in ,a new box but i have only 3 wires 2 of them are white and 1 black how should i connect on a 4 wire receptacle? on the receptacle 1 white 1 green, 4 a ground then it says x then y ???????
dont even attempt to wire it up. call an appliance service and they can test the wires for current and properly wire it up.
Q: My home is wired for the thermostats with two wires (red and white). I have acquired a new thermostat that requires a Red, White, and Common wire. Using the white wire in that position will power the unit up but it won't trigger the heat. Is there something that can be put in line that will allow this thermostat to work without rewiring the house?
Connect a new piece of 3 wire to the existing 2 wire and pull it through the wall by pulling the 2 wire. Of course if it gets stuck you will need to measure how far you pulled to know where to cut a hole in the wall. Cutting a hole in the wall if needed, isn't a big deal you just put the piece back, screw or nail it down (cut so you have studs on both sides to reattach it later) tape and plaster and paint.
