Q:I have just primed a wood floor and want to stencil it. After the priming do I paint the entire floor the background color then stencil?. What do I use for the final coat(s) to protect the floor and the stenciling?
Whenever you paint a floor, it is recommended to use an epoxy-based paint - it will adhere better and suffer much less wear and tear over time because it is more durable. Although, truth be known, I have used acrylic paints with no problems. Presuming you're using a simple stencil pattern to be applied on a solid-coloured background, your next step is to paint the background colour. Two coats should do the trick. Let it dry thoroughly before stencilling over it. Stencilling should be done with a stencil brush - a round brush with a perfectly flat tip. The paint should be thinly applied in a dabbing motion - do not brush it on. The reason for this, aside from the finished look, is that when you brush paint on it is more likely to get under your stencil and make a mess. If you're using more than one colour, you might want to cover the areas on the stencil for all but one colour with masking tape, and let each colour dry before moving on to the next. When you're all done, you could apply a clear coat. The oil or alkyd-based clear coats have a tendency to yellow slightly over time and take quite a while to dry. The water based clear coats won't hold over oil-based paint or emulsion. Check with your local paint supplier to find out which finishing product is best based on the paints you have used. Alternately, depending on the style you are going for, if you have used a durable enough paint, you might want to skip the clear coat so that over time you will have a nice aged and worn-in look to the floor. Good luck.
Q:Are there a few thick walls? How thick is thickest? Buy the floor are generally more thick to buy more
Composite flooring is generally 11 and 12 of. It is recommended that you buy a glimpse of the performance of the bourgeoisie to find Baumer 2 thick, do not listen to what they say 11 environmental protection, 12 of the thick so that it is not environmentally friendly? Not environmentally friendly you also come out to sell?
Q:My house was built 3 years ago and the second floor squeaks and gives when walked on. I am not talking about one area but many many areas.
Floor joists if properly sized and spaced should not noticeable deflect when walked on and squeaking could result. Squeaking could also occur from movement of floor boards across the joists, if not nailed securely or if the spacing between joists are too great. Normally a bedroom floor would be designed for a live load of about 30 lb./s.f. The size of joists and their spacing would depend on their unsupported span.
Q:I have wood floors in my apartment and am putting a few coats of polyurethane on them, to protect them and make them shiny. Question- does the (water based Home Depot polyurethane) fill the little cracks between the wood slices so that the floor is essentially one smooth surface? Thanks!
On floors that are much older than 10 years the cracks are usually not filled when refinishing. The reason for this is that the wood will expand and contract with season changes. When the floor expands the filler or putty in the cracks will crack and not look good. If the floor is newer with just a few very minor cracks you can fill with a trowelable wood filler, such as woodwise brand filler. This would be the method if completely sanding floors down... If you are just recoating the floor it would be best to use a matching wood putty. prior to buffing or coating the floor. This way it will seal it in to the floor.
Q:By "slippery", I don't mean the floors on a gymnasium or the like, I mean laminate floors that are slipperier than average and by traction, I mean average laminate floors.(I'm installing a new dance floor)-What about pirouettes and fouettes and a-la-secondes? (Which is better?)-What about for all sorts of dance?-Mainly, are turns done more properly on more slippery floors or floors with more traction? -Are they easier to do on more slippery floors or not?-Are they easier to do on REALLY slippery floors compared to not as slippery but still a little slippery?*Any additional info would be helpful too or any suggestions etc. :)Thanks in advance!
You want to get a marley floor for ballet. The traction helps you better control the moves and not slip in your pointe shoes (which can be very dangerous). Dance floors are legally required to give some. That just means they aren't rock solid like concrete. They absorb shock, which makes injury less likely. Marley floor is a covering you put over the dance floor and tape it down. Marley helps you keep better control. Normal wooden dance floors work too. You'll just need to use rosin more often.
Q:I have old pergo floors in the dining and kitchen area and tile everywhere else in the house. How hard is it to remove both types of floors and how do I go about removing each? I want to put down real hardwoods and carpet in the bedrooms. Also, new tile in kitchen and bathrooms.
The pergo flooring(if free floating) is very easy to remove. Just start at a wall and start taking apart, they usually snap together. As for the tile, that will be a project. They make scrapers for floors, either manual or power. I would suggest using either. Your going to have to make sure that all material is off the floor, otherwise when you go to put down the hardwood, you will have a very hard time. If you have any other questions feel free to contact me.
Q:My bro bought a house and some of the floors are not even. (He got no basement.) What can he do to make the floors straight without investing too much money?
get some stepping stones a 4 by 6 lay this under joist jack it up tell they all hit then cut a 4 by 6 to fit from stone to 4 by should work simple cheap quick
Q:What is the meaning of the floor speed?
You should be to strengthen the floor, it is touch the factory whip broken Zhuang Biao coupon wave surface of the surface layer of wear resistance (hardness) the higher the higher the higher the degree of wear, generally more than 8000 for the basic qualified, but now large A lot of turn

Q:What is clean for composite flooring?
Composite floor of the waterproof than the solid wood flooring better, but do not use a very wet mop to wipe, you can first use a vacuum cleaner first vacuum, and then half a tide of the mop can clean the ground.
