Q: So we see here and there that bagless vacuum cleaners are better for environment but what are the reasons behind it like in more clear details other than the basics (i.e. less waste, manufacturing, paper use).....
Because it doesn't create trash, and trash is bad for the universe.
Q: Can a canister vacuum cleaner hepa filter be washed?
I have been servicing and repairing vacuum cleaners for about 10 years now so I see a lot of filters. In my opinion even the filters that can be washed really shouldn't be unless they are a foam type material. Basically the washing doesn't really get the dirt out, what you have to consider is that the pores of the filter are super small to be able to trap particles as small as pollen and smoke and water doesn't flow well through holes this small. Also as the vacuum is running it is actually trying to pull air through the filter so the dust gets pulled in really hard and effectively gets stuck. Your vacuum will last longer by replacing the filter as it will cool the motor more effectively so while there is a cost in buying a new filter it extends the life of your vacuum hence saving you money in the long term. Hope this helps! :)
Q: Will future vacuum cleaners have a small black hole to improve suction?
If you have any troublesome planets you need to vacuum up then perhaps this would be a useful product. Effortlessly cleans away even the stubbornest of Class II Gas Giants! Otherwise I think you're just better off with a good old fashioned electric motor or broomstick! As Quadrillian said much better, technology is only really useful when applied in a practical manner. Never create a car with 16 wheels if 4 will do!
Q: On a scale of one to one dozen, how do you rate purple vacuum cleaners?
1. We had a purple vacuum once growing up and it sucked.
Q: Are there any products that work well, e.g. cleaners, mops, wet/dry vacuum-mops?
I've used swiffer and orange glow cleaners.. Orange glow can soemtimes have a bit too much oil and leave a little residue. Swiffer works well as a cleaner but can leave streaks if you pump too much fluid.. The most important thing about laminate is not to use too much water or liquid on the floor. Keep cleanser and water at a minimum, otherwise the flooring could warp. Also depends on the quality of laminate you have. Best advice is to see if the Brand you purchased makes a specific cleaner.. I know Bruce brand does.
Q: Are they worth the money? Do they really clean the air?
Rainbow vaccums are very expensive, for commercial use i say there ok, for residential it does ok. My girlfriend used to sell them and she demonstrated one at my house. When she went to clean my mattress, the machine pulled the fabric and ripped it. Too much suction for the mattress. ORECK is really a good one for residential and they stand by there name, if you have a problem you can go to a local dealer and they will fix it. Rainbow is like selling avon, it would have to be shipped back to the manufacturer and you would have to pay for shipping charges and in the meantime, you have no vac to use-takes a few weeks to have it back.
Q: Not sure which brand I should bite the bullet on
I okorder , I called up because a buddy of mine actually told me he went into their store and got a discount and got $150 off for calling up. Had it the next day in CT at $949 flat. Definitely would recommend Miele though. Germans always make the best
Q: The best?
Yes Yes Yes! We have had one for three years now and I will never go back to vacuming for myself.
Q: We are moving to a house that has tile in the kitchen and dining room and since I don't want to be just pushing the dust around with my broom anymore I wanted to know which of you use those stick type vacuum cleaners that you use on tile floors and thin carpet. Which work good but are still inexpensive ?? Either corded or cordless .
Swiffer Sweep+Vac Swiffer WetJet Swiffer CarpetFlick for the carpeting/rugs If you don't want to use Swiffer, then get the Dirt Devil BroomVac, it's good too. I've got the Swivel Sweeper and I don't like it, especially for the 2 $20 payments I made.
Q: I have a one-year old and lots of crumbs on my floor that our vacuum won't pick up. We currently have a bag less Bissell and I hate it. We've replaced all the filters and cleaned it but it still hardly picks up a thing. It leaves little hair balls on our carpet and kicks dust back in the air. I have to open the windows every time I vacuum so we can breathe! We're looking to get a new vacuum and I am interested in any brand and reviews you can recommend. My parents have had an Electrolux for 10+ years and it works great. However, the price tag ($500) is a little much for me. I'd also rather not go bag less again. Any suggestions?
Yep, buy a good one like your parents did. Look at it this way: you can buy a cheap one now, which won't work all that well, and will break down in a year or two, then buy another cheap one, and so on, or you can spend a little more and get one you could have for many years which will do what you need. Buying a cheap one is cheaper now but not over the next 10-20 years or more. Go to a store that sells and services vacuum cleaners and buy a used vacuum in a really good brand. They'll know which ones last and which don't--remember, they fix the ones that don't. I've got a Filter Queen I bought used in 1987 for $500, still works as well as the day I bought it. At the time, I was doing housecleaning and went through two $60 vacuums in one year.
