- You can use... aspen shavings- nice smell, absorbs well, non-toxic unlike cedar or pine paper beddings (carefresh, etc)- very absorbant, sometimes too dusty old clothing, sheets and towels - need to be laundered/changed weekly or more It is easier to maintain bedding if the rats are litter trained so you can just change the box rather than having to fuss with the bedding Never use pine or cedar. Hay and straw aren't good either, they'll resolt in lots of mold growth. If you have a paper shredder, you can process papers to be thrown away through there to make a cozy bedding. Avoid newspapers unless you know they use soy ink. Otherwise, the ink is toxic!

- You either have bed bugs or you don't. The condition of your mattress really has nothing to do with it. If you wake up with little red bumps on your chest or see flecks of blood on the sheets, then you have bed bugs. Get a new mattress and sheets. You may have to have the room de-loused. Bed bugs can remain dormant for months and come back to life.

- I had a waveless waterbed for many years and it was the best bed we had. We tried an air bed, but I didn't like the noise the pump made, keeping the mattress inflated. I have slept on (but not owned) a tempur pedic mattress, and it was ok, although I also found it was a bit warm. It was a bit odd, because it is firm, but I personally didn't like the way I sunk in it. My vote would be to try a true waveless mattress. Ours was a single bladder with full baffling. We abandoned it because my wife wanted to have a bed that was a little easier to make up, so we got a tube style waterbed mattress (supposedly waveless) but we found this inferior, especially toward the edge where it went from the tubes to the conventional mattress siding. We would get one again today, but we don't seem to have any dealers in our area. The other drawback to any waterbed is that it will weigh a lot when filled with water. If you are renting, you should check to be sure you can have a waterbed.

- I like mine in the center because it's easier to make and looks more symmetrical with a piece of art above it. I also have two night tables so it works best this way for me. Both of my sons, though, have their beds against one wall with one night table. It's a cozy look, so either way is fine!

- You definitely need to try Bed Bath and Beyond. They have lots of back to school stuff. A lot of them come in sets aka Bed in a Bag, so that really helps. Also try Target, they have great teen bedding. I'm 24 and I love it!

- By soft drinks meaning soda and artificials juices, yes. That is horrible for you before bedtime. All the sugar and caffeine will keep you awake, make you feel crummy waking up in the morning, and you're not going to burn off those calories and cory syrup while sleeping ! If you don't brush your teeth after drinking it, you can count on cavities ! Personally, caffeine doesn't keep me from falling asleep, but soda is just plain horrible for your body.
- Q: My dog is a 62 lb black lab and I am looking for a new bed for him, because his current one is getting kind of worn out. However, I would like to buy him a bed where it is nice and comfy but I can also remove the cover on it so if and when he gets fleas and other misc objects on him I can easily wash it.
