- Well if you don't want to keep them you can look up organizations that wish to use them for a project. There are a lot for Japan, one that was organized recently for the tsunami was accepting cranes for a fundraiser (every crane sent in earned a certain amount of money with the finished collection being placed in an art museum). I know some hospitals accept cranes for the children's ward, that is what my class did in elementary school we made 1000 and the hospital used them as decorations for the Christmas tree. Then there are individual projects that people start online with which they are accepting cranes to fulfill the one thousand mark for people they know who are sick etc. (relates to the story behind the 1000 paper cranes practice). - Gravity acts downwards, force = mass x acceleration. Crane acts upwards at same force. As the crane starts to lift the car there is upwards acceleration that causes more force to be generated for a moment.

- The cranes are jack-up cranes. They have their own self-contained jacks. As one floor is completed, they jack up to the next level. The cranes are on top of the buildings. They are designed by structural and mechanical engineers to loift a given weight.

The crane operator uses the crane to lift another 20-foot mast section into the gap opened by the climbing frame. Once bolted in place, the crane is 20 feet taller! Once the building is finished and it is time for the crane to come down, the process is reversed -- the crane disassembles its own mast and then smaller cranes disassemble the rest.
