- Q: Okay, like a week ago I caught a daddy long legs (a crane fly) in my room with a mug and an envelope and I just left it there, when I removed it there were loads of little black dots on the envelope, I didn't really think about it cos I figured it was the coffee that was inside the mug or something. I got rid of most of them but didn't go out of the way if you know what I mean... And now there are loads of TINY little flies in my room. Could these be baby crane flies? Or something else? And if so how the hell do I get rid of them before they get huge and start reproducing all over again?!

- i aint trained in kungfu but i have studied it... im a karate practitioner and abit of a boxer. one day i was bored and looking up martial arts then i came across kungfu... it was very interesting looking it up. Theres over 300 styles of kungfu. some styles of kungfu represent a animal. For example... you got crane kungfu... if you know what a crane is, its a type of bird... strong on its legs, well balanced... goes with the flow, elegent. Crane kungfu practitioners have strong perfect balance... just like the crane. You got snake kungfu... just like a snake, it looks at there prey and attacks very accurutly... the speed of the snake bite is so fast, you might not even see it coming. So with snake kungfu practitioners... they are swift like a snake, smooth... Theres tiger kungfu... just like a tiger... vicious, focused... they attack there prey, strong... hard. Theres monkey kungfu... not sure about that one. but thats some styles i know... theres other styles like jeet kun do (the way of the intersepting fist)... drunken boxing ect... this is some of what i know... oh yh theres anouther style called the praying mantis... looks very good. so inconclusion... most of the animal styles of kungfu represent the animal in a certain way... which makes kungfu spark out for me. hoped this helped :)

- Q: I'm making 1000 origami paper cranes. I started 2 days ago and have 135 done so far but I was wondering what do to with it after. I don't want to just make them and have them sit in my room forever.
- Well if you don't want to keep them you can look up organizations that wish to use them for a project. There are a lot for Japan, one that was organized recently for the tsunami was accepting cranes for a fundraiser (every crane sent in earned a certain amount of money with the finished collection being placed in an art museum). I know some hospitals accept cranes for the children's ward, that is what my class did in elementary school we made 1000 and the hospital used them as decorations for the Christmas tree. Then there are individual projects that people start online with which they are accepting cranes to fulfill the one thousand mark for people they know who are sick etc. (relates to the story behind the 1000 paper cranes practice). As a side note if you contact the organization you find a lot of the time the shipping is prepaid you just have to drop them off at the post office. Hope this helps.
- Q: I know they will leave because last year they left after a few weeks. I have seen that they normally leave after a month. They annoy me and I want them gone. They have been around since the end of February or beginning of March. Does anyone else have these in their house. Pet Cats like to play with it and catch it.They will disappear after some time. Do you know that crane flies spend most of their lives underground in their larval forms, which are known as leatherjackest?. Leatherjackets were very common round here, and are a favourite food of the local crows .These leatherjackets transform into crane flies.Summer is their growth time.

- Cranes work using hydraulics and cables. The cables are wrapped around pulleys and the pulley is turned using hydraulic power. The brake system is simply stopping the pulley from turning by reducing power. The hydraulic system typically will turn a series of gears which in turn spins the pulley that the cable is wrapped around. It's different than a brake system say on a car where when you hit the brakes, pads squeeze on the interior of the wheel rim slowing it down. Cranes you just reduce power and stop the pulley from turning. They also have emergency stops. Older cranes have wedges that would be released onto the cable and then the wedges would grab the cable and slip into a ring. The narrow end of the wedges would slip into the ring first and then as the wedges increased in diameter the grip on the cable would get tighter and then stop the cable from moving. They also have systems on the pulleys to stop the pulley from spinning. They essentially work the same way as a car break. When the emergency brake is triggered, pads will squeeze on the rim of the pulley to stop it. These mechanisms work by friction. They could also have holes around the pulley and a steel pin would be pushed into one of the holes to stop it from spinning. Of course if the force of the weight exceeded the strength of the pin, it would shear.
