- You can use... aspen shavings- nice smell, absorbs well, non-toxic unlike cedar or pine paper beddings (carefresh, etc)- very absorbant, sometimes too dusty old clothing, sheets and towels - need to be laundered/changed weekly or more It is easier to maintain bedding if the rats are litter trained so you can just change the box rather than having to fuss with the bedding Never use pine or cedar. Hay and straw aren't good either, they'll resolt in lots of mold growth. If you have a paper shredder, you can process papers to be thrown away through there to make a cozy bedding. Avoid newspapers unless you know they use soy ink. Otherwise, the ink is toxic!

- I like the stand up ones because it gets your entire body a little better than the ones you lay down on. BUT, you have to stand up the whole time. Bring a CD player if they don't have a radio or something provided. Wearing makeup is probably okay, but I would go ahead and wash it off. I did the stand up ones just a couple times a week, but it's been a few years.

- to keep them off the bed you need to reduce the numbers around the bed..thoroughly clean the bed frame and around the room with the vacuum, use a residual spray along baseboards, place out the flat sticky traps around the bed

- We had a water bed for many years (still have the frame and headboard). In cold weather it is very nice to get into a bed that is already warm. My wife's back and hips did not work well with the water mattress after many years. We replaced the mattress with a conventional mattress which works fine. Over time, the conventional mattress has developed a slight trough under each of us. I tried a TempurPedic mattress in a store and it was too warm for me. I do have a pillow made of that material which works well. I have used a self-inflating camping pad on top of the conventional mattress and have gotten good sleep there as well. We have never had a Gel bed or TempurPedic on a regular basis.

- No bed is the most comfortable for everybody. To find the one that's right for you, go to a good bed shop (not a bargain one) and lie down on lots of them. Some will be too firm, some will be too soft and hopefully one will be just right. The more you spend usually the more comfortable it is and the longer it will last. Never buy a bed without lying on it for at least several minutes, with a good pillow. A good bed shop will expect you to do this. General advice is to change your bed every ten years but we had a really good pocket sprung one that lasted for 30!!! (And no it didn't smell, and yes it was still clean)

- First off have the other bed in youre pockets, got to the attic and tap on the end of youre attic bed. It will give you the options to change beds x

- She could tumble out, but she's probably not going to get hurt at all. Just make sure it's lower to the floor. Expect missing blankets. Milky pillows. Missing items of clothing under the fitted sheet. Missing books and dolls, and animals. You will find them under the bed.
