Production and Core:

Q: Multi layer composite and solid wood flooring, which is better?
In fact, expensive wood floor care is the most trouble, do not wear, with long gloss difference, have regular waxing, do not say you have this skill, usually use them cautiously, afraid to knock on, not wait for the whole family to walk with the space step, which can live really tired.
Q: Can a finishing nail gun be used to install 3/8 engineered hardwood?
It is best to use a flooring stapler. Bostich makes a stapler that is especially for installing engineered wood. Use the finish nailer would probably it hard for the rows to go together.
Q: hi,we bought this very nice red oak wood flooring. I think its some kind of engineered flooring. Anyway my question is do I need a moister barrier in my 2nd story rooms? The house was built in 2004 ( in case that matters) I know I have to put a foam down to reduce the noise but I don't think that the 2nd story has any moister.Oh by the way we are in south California so it is warm and dry most of the year. Thanks for all you help
The first guy is correct and to answer your last question, don't use the carpet foam as it may be to thick and spongy. Go with the cheap thin foam they sell. I might add that if your worried at all about a moisture barrier, then lay some 3 mil plastic sheeting down first, staple it tight in the corners, then put your thin foam layer down. For about an additional 20 bucks or so for a roll of sheeting your worries are over regardless if it was required or not. It can't hurt anything in other words.
Q: Wood floors will be deformed? How to deal with?
In fact, the solid wood floor after spreading, sometimes there will be local tile deformation, mainly because the ground is wet, and wet ground is often caused by the ground damp or local water seepage causes. The keel laying rack, due to swelling of wood shrinkage because the wood is different, and the vertical and horizontal scalability differ greatly, so the Dragon skeleton encounter tide can also occur after deformation, cracking and arching, so that the floor tile will appear. Matting method can effectively prevent the occurrence of the above. The method saves the keel frame, also can not talk about the problem of deformation. This kind of suspension shop is tested, and the test results show that the moisture permeability coefficient is very small, so it has good moisture proof performance.
Q: I've seen a lot of installations of engineered floors done via gluing down the hardwood or having them float. Can you simply just nail them in? I'm thinking of a doing a self-install in a small bedroom and I don't think I'll be satisfied with floating while gluing is more work that I'm interested in doing. Is there a reason you're not supposed to nail down engineered floors as you would real hardwood, or is it an option?
Engineered wood is very versatile.. It can be glued, made to float or nailed down. It isn t actually a nail its a staple. Standard thickness on most ( not all) engineered wood is 5/16 and 3/8 So you require a special staple gun and staple length according to the manufacture. Rent anywhere tools are rented. As in all fastened wood, a barrier is needed under it , usually just a red rosin paper. Some thicker engineered woods a regular floor gun , using a cleat or staple can be used. With the basic tools and DIY skills, engineered wood is very easy to install. Any questions you can e mail me through my avatar. GL
Q: i know engineered flooring uses adhesives and this worries me. i think hardwood installation over conrete would be complicated (we live in a condo) and we were advised to choose engineered wood. thank you!
You can use the type of laminate that snaps together. This is installed over a pad that is rolled over the concrete. There would be no adhesive required. If you do go with the type of engineered wood that is glued together, the glue used is basically the same as yellow carpenters glue. The formula is slightly different, but for the most part it is very similar. The glue dries quickly, and once it's dry it should be sealed enough to not cause allergy issues. Hope this helps.
Q: I want to decorate the house, I would like to ask how to buy real wood floor?
Color: quality wood floors should be natural color, clear wood. If the color of the floor surface is heavy, the paint layer is thicker, it may be for the purpose of covering the surface defects of the floor, and when the floor for the six side of the paint when the need to pay attention to. At the same time, due to the different plate in its parent trees -- where there are differences in sapwood and heartwood, wood table, wood, nightside, sun, respectively, tangential diameter cut and sheet metal cutting, so there must be color. It is the color, natural texture, rich texture changes, highlighting the natural style of solid wood flooring. International home decoration is now popular color difference is huge, long and short, different kinds of materials. With the enhancement of the environmental consciousness of consumers in our country, it is bound to be in the decoration style.
Q: What are the advantages of sports floor
DipteryxAdvantages: two winged beans, also known as incense two winged beans, because of its texture like dragons are known as Pteris Chinese Cumaru, hard wood, has a unique texture clear coiled like a dragon, Sifeng, in different poses and with different expressions is a beautiful, full of wit and humour, symbol, color stable, elegant, red color, very suitable for China classical style decoration style.Disadvantages: two wing bean floor stability is poor, easy deformation, large pattern, color. Wood density is high relatively hard material, so the floor ends prone to dark crack, the light will make the dark painted crack obvious, if the process using wear-resistant matte, dark crack appear obvious, conceal flaws between the dark. Northern climate can not be two square meters of solid wood flooring.
Q: Is it acceptable to glue 3/4 engineered wood flooring to a concrete floor?
To be honest I ve never seen a 3/4 engineered hardwood. 3/8s and 1/2 inch yes, both of those which can be nailed or glued. Glue only on cement of course. You ll have to get w/ the manufacture and see what they say to do. E mail me back thru my avatar what you find out for sure, I m always eager to learn something new GL P S , if you do find it to be gluable, e mail me and I l give some pointers.Have you checked your cement for any moisture/ hydrostatic pressure?
Q: I have heard that rubber backed throw rugs are bad for wood floors. And I am purchasing some rugs for my new home, which has wood floors.
It isn't scratching you need to be afraid of, with rubberized backing. It is the rubber breaking down and either crumbling, or, if anything greasy got on it, it would turn to a sticky, gluey mess. Look for rugs made of natural fibers, either cotton, wool, or silk. They wear well, and won't damage your nice hardwood floors. We have wool rugs on hardwood.
