Q:I have a t-mobile cell phone and since I returned home from vacation Sunday, I have noticed that my phone now says ATT as its service, not 'T-mobile.' I haven't done anything to my phone, and have no idea why this is happening! A few of my friends who live next door also have T-mobile and have the same thing happening. What's even more odd is we have far better service now (even though ATT has horrible service in this area- New York's Hudson Valley).Any idea as to why this is may be occurring?: It just means you're connecting to an ATT tower instead of to a T-Mobile one. Sometimes that happens because there's an issue with the T-Mobile tower and your phone can't connect to it. (Like if they're working on it right then or it's just busted, which seems to happen often.) If it's giving you better service, that's awesome, so don't bother to ask T-Mobile to put you back on their towers (tech support can do that I think). Roaming on other towers is included on T-Mobile so it's not going to affect your bill at all.

Q:If the deal goes through and ATT acquires T-Mobile USA, will ATT customers have access to T-Mobile phones (HTC HD7, G2) and T-Mobile customers have access to ATT phones (iPhone, HTC Inspire)?I'm a current ATT customer with the iPhone 4, but I want a nice Android or WebOS smartphone.: they will endorse phones specifically for the provider you should have more choice

I'm interested in Anroid and Blackberry phones: You can buy any CDMA phone (Verizon, Sprint, Metro, Boost) and flash it for Metro PCS service. You cannot buy GSM phones (ATT or T-Mobile) since these are built on a different technology. Caution, regular flash will allow you to use phone for talk and text. However, if you want to use data services such web or email you will need to fully flash the phone.

You have three choices - Infrared, Cable and Bluetooth. Also, you need to have your phone enabled to allow data transfer. If you have Cingular service, this is enabled already, if Verizon, then you will have to get the data transfer unlocked. Once data transfer is unlocked, the Phone Tools program will walk you through the setup for the phone. If you can't figure this out, then you need to study the help file for the program and learn how to use it. I would normally be happy to tell you how to use it, but not knowing your computer and your phone, I can't. That is workable because they don't have to keep too much inventory and the staffing may be only 2 customer-service people. Q:i just got this boost mobile motorola i475 i was wondering does this phone play youtube videos. Ive downloaded opera mini already but everytime i try to play a vid on youtube it will say protocol not supported. so can i get this phone to play youtube vids or what?: The Motorola i475 is too old of a cell phones. It is what we call a WAP phone. It can't access any internet website like a desktop can. The internet on this cell phone is more of text and menus like when the internet was more of menus and numbers. It won't be able to play videos or anything like that. Even Boost Mobile won't even activate this cell phone. As you know Boost Mobile is getting rid of any cell phone that uses the IDEN network. The cell phone Motorola i475 is a IDEN network phone since it has that walkie talkie feature. Boost Mobile will no longer support IDEN cell phones but only use CDMA network. So this cell phone is obsolete. All their cell phones on Boost Mobile website only use CDMA network.
