- Q: hello I intend on insulating and plaster boarding my shed soon. However I am not entirely sure of the best way to plasterboard onto a metal frame, because I do not want screws poking out of the board because you cannot nail into metal obviously. So I was wondering do most people use only liquid nails or how else is the board applied to the frame? I heard you can put small pieces of wood between the frame and the board then nail to the wood, is this a good technique? advice and opinions would be much appreciated thanks
- use bolts. plaster and paint over to hide them. get the rounded, covered nuts to go on the outside of the shed.
- Q: Hello!I've purchased a large mirror for my room and realized that I don't have any wall plugs that would be long enough to reach the load-bearing wall and I've never used wall plugs for the plasterboard wall in front of it.To be honest I have no idea which ones to buy.How much weight and which ones can handle. And is it even a good idea to use plasterboard wall plugs or should I just get longer ones which will reach the load-bearing wall? Thanks!
- I would use toggle anchors if its a hollow wall behind the drywall. Wall plugs can come loose in my experience. But you will have a decent sized hole in the wall to repair if you take them out - but same with the plugs too.
- Q: So, I accidently flooded my bath. The skirting boards around the sink and wood that boxes around the sink have become damp which has now dried out but the wood has cracked and I suppose that it's become warped. Now, I'm not sure how to deal with this as this wood is attached to the plasterboard wall. By removing this wood and replacing it I fear that I might damage the plasterboard wall.Any advice on how to tackle this? I kind of want some advice before I look into calling someone out
- Those skirting boards as you call them were originally installed to act as a support for when the plasterers floated out the walls with plaster. You can go ahead and replace whatever is bad with new boards. The plaster will not fall off the wall, when you do this. You are fine! Understand that pre-1978 buildings with plaster have asbestos fibers in them. They are know to cause cancer. You need to specially CONTAIN the area and were special protection when doing this work. DO NOT CONTAMINATE OTHER AREAS OF THE HOUSE.
- Q: I am making a model that requires me to shape, paint, and glue something that will represent small stone slabs (1/2 thick). I do not have access to power tools. I need to cut out unique shapes and then sand them down considerably to make a dome. I was thinking about plaster board but the material I need does not need to be that sturdy. I basically need something between plasterboard and styrofoam (if that makes sense). Any ideas would be appreciated.
- I have no idea why you would make a dome like one would make an iglu? When you could use plaster of paris in the same why you'd do paper mache or putting an arm in a cast. Blow up a ballon to just under the size of the dome you need then apply the plaster thicker when you get close the size you want so to be able to cut it to size and sand it smooth.
- Q: Gypsum board wall can be installed after the door suction it?
- Due to restrictions on the gypsum board material recommended Do not install the door in the wall can be installed in the wall from the wall ten cm on the floor
- Q: Waterproof practices of light steel keel gypsum board partition wall
- Waterproof gypsum board back brush waterproof paint, front scratch waterproof putty, brush waterproof latex paint.
- Q: What is the proportion of gypsum board?
- Gypsum board generally used surface density measurement, for example: 9.5mm thickness gypsum board, the national standard requires its surface density to be less than 9.5Kg / m2, but most of the better quality gypsum board density control in (6.5-7.2) Kg / M2. If compared with the density of water, the proportion of ordinary gypsum board is less than water. But the refractory board due to gypsum core inside the addition of glass fiber, depending on the amount of added, the density may be greater than the density of water.
- Q: Hello, im currently trying to take down my bathroom ceiling but am having trouble as the plaster seems to have chicken wire through it. im slowing prizing it away from the joists but its taking ages, has anyone any advice for me? i was hoping that the plaster would be attached to slats of wood that i could rip down, but like i said it seems to have been reinforced with chicken wire . . . .
- It is attached to metal lathe and seems to be pretty tight. I wouldn't take it down unless you have to for some reason. We oftentimes laminate new wallboard over the existing plaster. Use construction adhesive on the back of the new wallboard and 3 drywall screws and screw through to the joists above. If you're almost to the point of total removal, you can use a reciprocating saw ( with proper eye and breathing protection) and run it through the wire lathe between the joists then pry down the separated pieces. In a bathroom, use moisture resistant drywall at a minimum or mold and moisture resistant.
- Q: What is the specification? What quality requirements?
- Generally are kraft paper, there are cloth, gypsum board specifications are generally 1.2m * 2.4, the quality requirements to see what you use, the general selection of high density, moisture better.
- Q: What are the advantages of gypsum board ceiling?
- There are two major advantages: first with gypsum board for the ceiling, the weight is only 1/3 of the brick wall, in addition it has excellent fire performance, Sina decoration grab the foreman's decorative function, unique design style, gypsum board surface also do Very smooth, good workability. I hope you can adopt my advice.
