Q: Ok, I need two negative facts about steel wheels and two for aluminum wheels. im designing a wheel for a project in design and draw for production class. Also if you find a web site that you got the info from plz refrence it i need to write down the source of the info, but if you can't its ok. Thanks
Negative facts for steel wheels: (1) Not as many style choices as aluminum. (2) Rust easily even when painted or powder coated, due to rock chips. (3) Heaver than aluminum, as far as fuel economy. Negative facts for aluminum wheels: (1) More sensitive to proper torquing of lug nuts. IE torque must be checked more often. (2) Susceptible to impact damage from road hazards much more than steel. (3) Need constant attention to prevent oxidation. Are these what you are looking for? I hope so. Wingman
Q: What are the common industry standards for steel coils?
Steel coils in the industry have varying standards depending on the region and specific use. However, there are widely accepted standards used in the steel industry. Among the most frequently used standards for steel coils is the American Society for Testing and Materials (ASTM) standard. ASTM has created various specifications for different types of steel coils, including hot-rolled, cold-rolled, and galvanized coils. These specifications outline the mechanical and chemical properties that the steel must meet, as well as dimensions, tolerances, and testing requirements. Apart from ASTM, international organizations like the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) and the European Committee for Standardization (EN) have also established standards for steel coils. ISO standards, such as ISO 3574 and ISO 5952, offer guidelines for general requirements, dimensional tolerances, and mechanical properties of steel coils. Similarly, EN standards like EN 10130 and EN 10131 specify the characteristics and tolerances for cold-rolled steel coils. Moreover, industry-specific organizations and associations may have their own standards for steel coils. For instance, the American Iron and Steel Institute (AISI) has developed specific standards for various steel products, including coils. These standards cover aspects including chemical composition, mechanical properties, and surface finish. It's worth noting that steel coil standards can also be determined by the intended use. Industries like automotive, construction, and manufacturing may have specific requirements that surpass general standards. In such cases, customers and manufacturers may refer to industry-specific standards or collaborate to define custom specifications. In summary, while there are several common industry standards for steel coils, it is crucial to consult the specific standards and requirements applicable to the region and application in question to ensure compliance and quality.
Q: What's the difference between hot rolled coil and hot-rolled carbon thin steel coil?
Hot rolled coil is used for continuous casting slab or as raw material, after reheating furnace heating, descaling into the roughing mill of high pressure water, roughing material by cutting head, tail, and then enter the finishing mill, the implementation of the computer controlled rolling, after finishing through the laminar cooling (computer controlled cooling rate and coiling) reel, a straight hair volume. Hair straightenerrollhead, tail tongue shapeand thefishtail shape, thickness, width of poor accuracy, edgehaswavy, folding, tower and other defects. The volume is heavy. (general management industry likes to use. )
Q: what are the characteristics when of iron or steel when stretched? which one could be stretched further? which one stretches more evenly?thankyou
Steel is harder and more brittle than iron since it has impurities which disrupt the regular layers of atoms. This means that the iron will stretch further and more easily. This also means it will stretch more easily.
Q: How are steel coils processed into finished products?
Steel coils are processed into finished products through a series of steps, including flattening, cutting, shaping, and treating. First, the coils are unrolled and flattened to obtain a flat sheet. Then, they are cut into desired lengths and shapes using various cutting techniques. Next, the sheets are shaped into specific forms using methods like bending, rolling, or stamping. Finally, the finished products undergo treatments such as heat treatment, galvanization, or coating to enhance their durability and appearance.
Q: What are the different methods of surface cleaning for steel coils?
There are several different methods available for surface cleaning of steel coils. The choice of method depends on the specific requirements and conditions. 1. Mechanical Cleaning: This method involves the use of mechanical tools such as wire brushes, sanding discs, or abrasive pads to physically remove dirt, rust, or other contaminants from the surface of the steel coils. It is commonly used for light cleaning and can be done manually or with the help of automated equipment. 2. Chemical Cleaning: Chemical cleaning involves the use of various cleaning agents or solvents to dissolve or loosen contaminants from the surface of steel coils. This method is effective for removing oil, grease, or stubborn dirt. Different chemicals can be used depending on the type of contaminants and the desired level of cleaning. It is important to follow safety guidelines and use appropriate protective equipment when using chemical cleaners. 3. Q: Hey I just got a mini 14 manufactured in 1980. I also had some .223 Wolf steel cased HP rounds (about 200) that i could shoot throught it, but I was just wondering if its a bad idea to use this steel cased ammo...? Only the casing is steel i believe... and the bullet is copper jacketedthanks for your help
Wolf's steel cased ammo isn't bad as practice/plinking ammo, especially for the price, as long as you give your weapons MULTIPLE, THOROUGH cleanings between uses, to be sure and remove ALL the gas fouling left by the Wolf components. HOWEVER.................. As Wolf steel cases are lacquer coated, DO NOT leave a round in a hot chamber, even during short pauses between stages of fire on the range, as the lacquer coating WILL melt, and cause the round to seize in the chamber, causing extraction and jamming problems, especially if the weapon is allowed to cool down with the round left in the chamber. Be extra diligent in removing this lacquer fouling when cleaning the weapon later. I have personally seen other shooters have the case rims ripped off spent cases in the chambers, causing a trip to the gunsmith to have the stuck case removed without damaging the weapon's chamber and actioin, at no minor expense.
