Q: We are looking to buy a house and we‘re choosing between tile and hardwood floor. I prefer hardwood because I feel its easier to clean and more comfortable. Husband prefers the tile. Is it just personal preference or is one better than another, cleaning wise.
hardwood. definitely. it lasts longer, and a bit easier to install if you are both installing the floor manually. tiles are a bit harder to install, and on top of that may crack easily, depending on what type you get. Hardwood is cooler on the feet, but tiles are even colder. If you live in areas where it snows lots you'd be wearing socks if you have tiles. that's why hardwood's the best in my opinion.
Q: How to calculate the loss of tiles
Number of tiles = Room area of wall and floor tile / [(block length of long gray seam width) × (block width wide gray seam width)] × (1 loss rate) For example: the use of retro tiles specifications for the 0.5 × 0.5M, patchwork width of 0.002M, loss rate of 1%, 100 square meters need to use the number of: 100 square meters dosage = 100 / [(0.5 0.002) 0.002) x (1 0.01) is about equal to 401 pieces. Ps: Floor tiles in the precise accounting, taking into account the cutting loss, the purchase of additional 3% -5% of the amount of loss.
Q: What purpose does it serve? Is it safe to assume the tile will settle half of the trowel thickness? For example, if using a 1/4 inch trowel, will the tile settle 1/8 inch when set in place? Thanks for any help/advice!
The trowel is used to spread the thinset, and even it out to a uniform thickness.
Q: Behind my sink in the kitchen, I have a back splash that is white tile with an ugly floral pattern on about every other tile. Instead of replacing all the tile, I was thinking maybe I could somehow take off the floral stuff.I don‘t think it is like a sticker, I tried scrubbing it off with a magic eraser with no luck. Any ideas?
i will try to know about question.then i will try to give it
Q: i have ceramic tile on my countertop and i do not like it and i was wondering if i could put a countertop on top of the tile? i just want to know what my inexpensive route will be. i do not have a lot of money to have things done. just want to know what my options would be.
i'd just pop the tiles off and refinish the top. simple, and relatively cheap.
Q: My husband and I just purchased a condo. We want to retile the bathroom in a more modern looking tile or maybe a marble or some kind of fancy tile. We are going to do it ourselves. Where can we find good prices on the tile?

Q: Laying 225 Sq ft of 18x18 tile on flat slab. Using Ultraflex II thinset (white) w/ 1/16 spacers. Cannot find a 3/4 trowel to apply just to floor...can I use 1/2 sq notch trowel if I apply to floor and back of tile as well when I set them???

Q: Tiles on the iron out of the traces of how to remove
1, wipe method: for the tile scratches are not serious, you can apply toothpaste, nail polish, etc., with a soft cloth hard rub, the effect should be good. Wipe the tile before wiping clean, so the effect will be better, so that can play the effect of dilute the tiles scratches. 2, smear method: find some and tile color almost paint, smear on the tile. 3, replacement method: If the tile scratches more serious, you can use the new tiles to replace, to ensure that the overall tile beautiful. 4, with oxalic acid to repair tile scratches good effect, the specific method of operation is: with a soft cloth stained with oxalic acid, hard wipe can repair tiles scratches. For the tile scratches more serious, are flawed, and can only be used to polish sandpaper, but do not recommend this method, because this is a great damage to the tile.
Q: We currently have vinly tile in our tiny kitchen. We want to upgrade but want something that looks nice and is easy to install. What would you recommend (not wood)? Also, would we have to take up the vinyl floor tiles or install on top of it?
you can lay vinyl peel and stick tiles on top of your existing sheet vinyl if your sheet vinyl is in good condition and stuck down well, you can apply a skimcoat of feathering patch on top of the vinyl they sell an epoxy additive instead of water to mix with so that you have good adhesion to the sheet vinyl I bought my peel and stick tiles at Lowes along with the skimcoat mix. Tiles were roughly $1 a piece and look much better than the sheet vinyl. I liked Lowes selection of tiles better than Menards and Home Depot. I redid two bathrooms, front entry way and kitchen this summer
Q: I would appreciate a double check on this problem. I believe I‘ve saved myself a lot of cutting, but I just want to make sure. My shower is 59 inches wide. My tile is 4.25 inches wide and tall. (square)My spacers are .25 inches wide. The middle point of my shower 29.5 inches. If I move my center line to the right or left by 2 and 1/8 inches I should be able to cover the entire width with 13 tile IF I allow for a 1/8th inch addition in each corner. Is this correct?
too much thinking . . but thanks for the 2 points . . .really . . you are being too analytical here . . let your tile installation crew do it for you . . tell them what you want . . . but if you are so fussy that all must be dead on perfect . . good luck . . because you may still need to float the walls . . and walls are usually not square and ceilings are oft crooked as well . . sometimes you just need to fudge a bit and follow the line that everyone will see.
