FAQ

1.    For Polished Porcelain Tile, is the 30*60 available?

—— Yes, 30*60 is available. Due to the basic size is 60*60, we need to cut 60*60 tile into 30*60. 6 pcs are packed into one carton.

2.    What is the MOQ for this tile?

—— Normally the MOQ is 1382.4 m2 for one 20’ container. To support our clients, we could go with 3 models to fill one container at most.

3.    Can we use the carton with our own design and brand name?

—— Yes. Normally we go with Neutral Carton or our Carton with our CMAX brand name. But for carton of client’s own design, the MOQ for one size is 5 containers, due to the carton factory can’t arrange production if quantity is below 5000 pcs.

Q:How to choose a tile test method?
1 with a glass of water poured on the back of the tiles, water stains spread quickly, indicating high water absorption, otherwise the lower 2. You can use a hard object to scratch the tile glazed, if left traces, indicating poor quality 3. Look at the color of the tiles is not clear, with the naked eye to see if there is no pinhole, pinhole easy to accumulate dirt 4. Tile flatness, flat side, easy to shop, the effect is also good (visual method, the tiles placed on the flat surface to see whether the four sides are fully consistent with the flat surface, while looking at whether the four corners of the tiles are right angle , And then placed in the same variety of tiles and the same type of tiles to observe the degree of color difference)
Q:I was cleaning a house today, and I accidentally dropped a few drops of bleach on a earth colored ceramic tile. The lady wants me to fix it, but the local carpet cleaners/tile guys want to charge me too much. Is there a way to repaint the tile? Or to strip away the bleach?
Tell us what the tile is made out of, it's obviously not a ceramic tile (bleach has no effect on ceramic tile other than to clean it). ------------------ Read the edit. A real Saltillo tile is a glazed tile. Bleach would have no effect except to clean it. She has knock off, crap tiles and it isn't your fault. There is no way to strip away bleach. What's done is done. She bought junk, she installed junk, and she got junk results. Tell her to go to hell.
Q:Can I install vinyl tiles in a bathroom. Will it shift over time and look bad. How does moisture affect vinyl tiles?
It depends on the surface you put them on and the quality of the tiles. In most cases, with cheap peel and stick tiles that adhere to the surface below, they will tend to shrink, curl up at the endges and peel back after a while. It's not so much moisture as temperature changes and poor durability of the thin vinyl and poor adhesive. I'd recommend you use the Home Depot Allure line of peel and stick floating vinyl floor tile that is made by Trafficmaster. I just did a friend's bathroom with that product last weekend and was very impressed. The tiles stick to each other instead of the floor surface beneath so you can put them down over any solid surface and moisture will not effect them. They have a 25 year warranty also. At about $1.79 per square foot it is a pretty good deal and installation is a snap. We covered her entire 6' by 8' bathroom floor in less than 2 hours, including all the cuts around the toilet base and doorway. All you need to install it is a metal framing square or tee square, a sturdy pair of scissors, a measuring tape and a utility knife. Cool product. They make versions that look like tile and others that look and feel like real wood. We used the wood and it looks great. I've also used the Trafficmaster direct adhering commercial grade peel-and-stick tiles in areas that had moisture (an entryway and a powder room) with no problem but I made sure I had good birch plywood underlayment and I sealed it before laying the tile and also ran a bead of silicone caulk around the edges.
Q:we‘ve moved into a 1930s flat with those old bakelite tiles, i think they‘re caller marley tiles. does anyone know a good way to get paint off them, and how to get them looking shiney and new again.cheers!
The one thing you do not want to do is use any harsh or abrasive cleanser on them. If they are real bakelite then they can lose their gloss and can be ruined. First try a bit of liquid laundry soap and warm water on a terry washcloth or small towel and dab or blot it on the spots. As the warm water and soap sit on the paint it will soften enough to scrape off with your fingernail or a popsicle stick. Always try any cleaning on a tile that is not seen readily, like under the sink if available, to insure that the finish does not get damaged. I have never known tiles to be made of bakelite but plastic was used extensively up to the 1970's and it can be cleaned with mineral spirits if necessary. If the soap and water do not work try mineral spirits, (also known as paint thinner and/or turpentine) on a small area of the tiles. You can try the fingernail scraping method first and some of the paint may come off straight away if it is latex and not too thick. If you get all the paint off you can shine them with carnuba wax, but try the wax on a hidden tile to make sure it does not have a reaction with bakelite. Best of luck.
Q:hi i live in a upstairs flat, and i want to tile my hall with ceramic tiles,i did a square 4 foot patch to see if the tile would stick or would come loose, well they did come loose,so how do i prepare floorboards for tiling over so the grout wont crack when i walk on the floor thanks
You can, but it's a gutsy try. Hardwood flexes, expands and contracts with temp. humidity and wear. Those are things you DONT want when setting tile. If you really really want to try this without removing the hardwood, it will take some money and time. First like others above mentioned, find a cement backer. Hardibacker and Durarock are brands sold at Home Depot. I would recommend getting the thicker 1/2 sheets as that will help dampen the flex. Then you will want an anti-fracture membrane to coat the backer with. This stuff helps allow the floor to move (slightly of course) without cracking your grout and popping tiles. Next buy a heavily latex modified mortar. It usually has a higher psi strength and also allows for some give. It's more expensive, but it's cheaper than doing the job twice. I'm personally a fan of TEC's SuperFlex mortar, but every tile guy has their favorite. When you go to actually install the tile (after the backer is in and the membrane is dry) use a deep trowel. In these situations, I use a 1/2 trowel. Spread the mortar evenly, and place each tile with the same amount of pressure. This will save time trying to keep the tiles level. When grouting also find a latex modified mix for it as well. Use that stuff instead of water. Hope this helps and you actually read the whole thing. I didn't mean to write a book.
Q:I am looking at replacing my kitchen floor, which currently has carpeting. (Bought the house like that.) And now I am looking to do either vinyl or tile. I understand tile is good for a lifetime, where as vinyl is good for 15-20 years for the heavier kind, but tile is double the cost. We plan on staying in our house a long time, if not forever, but in the case we would decide to sell, would tile or vinyl give us more value?
I've always been happy with vinyl sheet flooring. You drop something breakable on tile and that puppy's BROKE. You will never recoup the added expense of tile for resale purposes--so don't do it with that in mind--the color and style you choose will probably be out by then. A maintenance for the grout is a pain; unless you're obsessively scrubby, then it always looks dingy and dirty--I don't have time or inclination for that level of home care.. Vinyl's beautiful and durable nowadays, with it being relatively inexpensive, you could afford to replace it for fashion's sake if you like.
Q:I need to re-set some tiles on a roof that have slipped and replace some others. Also, I need to re seal my flashing around my vents. What am I getting into, and how hard is it to work on tile roof?
Professional here, are you talking about Slate tiles, Spanish tiles, or shingles ?? Flashing around vents requires a pointing trowel with the end tip broken off, makes it easier to apply around flashing, I would use Karnak brand myself, have used it 20 yrs commercially. You would require skill to get this right even if you try. Replacing any so called Tiles also requires experience, if you never walked a roof, you could kill yourself. If your in the NYC area. email me, I'll either tell you how to do this yourself or do it for you for a charge.
Q:I want to remove my carpet in the bedroom. I know about pulling it up and all that but what I don‘t know is what the next step is after it‘s totally up. I want to put down tile I‘m not sure if I want to put down ceramic or just the plain old sticky tile. my question is can i put tile down directly on the floor boards. I don‘t think that there is hardwood underneath i just see like plywood or whatever that board is called. Is there anything specific that needs to be done to the floor before tiling?
You can put the peel stick tile directlt to the wood floor, but for the ceramic tile you'll first need to put down, with screws, a cement board called Duro-Rock, These come in 3x5 ft. pieces. You also need Thin-Set and fiberglass tape. The fg tape has a sticky side so it sticks right to the Duro-Rock. Run a thin coat of Thin-Set over the tape and allow to dry. Ceramic tile can be put down with Thin-Set also.
Q:How to do the wall tiles off
Remedy strategy: 1, buy a piece of the same tile. 2, to the construction site to the master to a little cement, not more than two two is enough, looks almost two large meat bag size, a little bit of white cement; 3, to the tool shop to buy a tile with the mud shovel (of course, a little bit of the special folding tile tiles better); 4, home, find a pot of tiles with blisters; 5, to find a small basin, the cement poured into, add water, with a mud shovel and paste paste, sticky and easy to shape;
Q:I need tile removed from my shower
It is fairly easy to do. Just break it up with a small sledge hammer and take it out.
