6. How to choose bathroom tiles? Porcelain tiles or glazed tiles?

Currently used in the bathroom tiles with glazed tiles (mainly from price considerations, some high-end can choose tiles, notice to choose tiles), divided into Shinny and Matt two kinds. Light color makes people feel shinny, but the bathroom more appropriate to create a warm feeling, so the best choose is uses matte, the shinny feels more soft and not dazzling.

Q: Im putting that peel-n-stick tile stuff in my new apartment over the stuff thats there (i dont know what its called but its like plastic kinda) is there any thing i have to do other then sweep before i put the new one down?
you can get an adhesive that will clean the floor and also help the stick tiles adhere better..they sell it at lowes..we did this when we put peel and stick tiles down...and it did work..but we removed the floor the lino..which it sounds like thats what you have too...go to your local home improvment store and ask them...
Q: is tiled floor the best flooring for people with pets?
Ceramic tile ,yes one of the better floorings. The main draw back is the grout. If un sealed or sealer is wearing off. The moisture from pet accidents ( and you ll have them once in awhile) can soak in to the grout. I consider sheet vinyl a better bet all around with pets. Easier to clean and it won t soak in, except at the perimeter, which all flooring will. Vinyl tiles , not so since they have an unprotected grout line at each tile. Any questions you can e mail me through my avatar.GL
Q: To remoe the old wall tiles between kitchen cabinet takes a lot of time or may damage the sheetrock behind it, can I install granite or new tiles on top of it. Appreciate for any input
Hi, Well, in order to support wall tiles a special board should be nailed to your wall. It provides much better support than regular dry wall, plus it also has many grooves on it which will help greatly in holding the mortar in place, this type of board goes by many names, I know it by the name hard back, or cement board. If you install tile over tile, you're losing the ability for the mortar to adhere, plus you're adding twice the weight that the hard back was meant to support. What ought to be done, in order to insure your expensive tile job lasts, is to remove the tile, and probably the hard back board behind it. If you're able to just remove the hard back without chipping away at the existing tile, then you get two steps out of the way fairly easily......but the thing is, that hard back is usually nailed very well into place, using many nails, this is to prevent it from flexing, because if it flexes much then the tile would come off the wall. Then once you've gotten the old hard back off of the wall, you'd install a new hard back to put your new tile on. Both Home Depot and Lowes offer tile installation classes for free, plus the people they have in those departments would be able to help you at any time. They'll be able to tell you what all you'll need once you've gotten the old stuff off the wall. Best of luck!
Q: How many squares are tiles?
According to the size of the tile and the number of packages
Q: Im trying to figure out how to apply (vct) Vinyl tile squares? Whats the best way to start a project? What adhesive do you use if any? Is it like ceramic with some form of grout? etc!
Look you don't have to start in the middle of the room measure across the room. Measure your sticky back tile. Figure out how much you will have to cut off of the two peices of tile on either wall. try to make it so you are cutting the exact same amount off of both peices. Once you have figured it out and laid down the first on one side go across the room. Remeasure the last peice to make sure, if it a little different it is ok. It will look as if both wall peices go under youe wall. and you won't have a full peice at one end and a half peice at the other or just a sliver on one end. Oh yeah make sure you pull up your base board so you can cover any gaps against your wall first, because usually most houses start off somewhat square, but you will still have a small crack to cover up. You might want to consider also putting down a shoe molding (just a thought). Use something like a rolling pin to apply the tile to the floor well. DO NOT PUSH DOWN ON THE TILE UNTIL YOU ARE SURE THAT IT IS IN THE RIGHT PLACE. Try to get the seams as tight as possible. You should do fine just take your time, and you will probably also cut a few tiles the wrong size. It is ok, Use a box knife to cut your tile from the back of it. Score a line, not necessarily all the way through, then simply break it, then come down the front with your knife to make the precise cut the rest of the way through. Have fun.
Q: My kitchen floor is ghastly and I want to change the floor. I could replace the tiles but it would be more work, but I could also get some linoleum and only have to measure. Just wondering which of the two is better to keep up.
Well, tiles have better resale value. They are loud, cold, and hard but are a preferred look these days. Lino is considered low end. I have hard wood in my kitchen and it's working out fine. You could consider bamboo flooring or one of the floating floors - sorry, having a brain fart and can't think of the proper name of the stuff.
Q: self stick floor tile, vapor barrier
Luan is not a vapor barrier. The best vapor barrier you can use is already down. Just apply it over the old floor. Make sure you don't have seam-over-seam.
Q: I‘m on a tight budget but some people say tile is better I dont know which is best and will last longer and easy to maintain Any ideas what to do?
tile in the bathroom it will hold up better against water linoleum is fine for the kitchen
Q: My house has been posted on the external walls of the tile, and now dissatisfied, there is no way not to pull out, doing other good decoration If the ceramic tile and then brush the external wall paint, will not be a long time or the tide, the paint fell
Tiles on the Tu is estimated that it is not too reliable, personal opinion can go to Taobao to see those tile film or wall stickers and the like, in fact, sometimes only need a few stickers, the appearance may feel very different, Save money is also easy to replace, quite good.
