- Q: Put my foot through the plasterboard and need to get it fixed asap. how would i be able to repare it ? its about 4-5 inches wide and about 3 inches long.
- have a look round your area see if a builder is close by .ask him if he has a piece of plasterboard about 12inches sqaure he will probably give it to you ..push a hole through the middle of it with a nail thread a piece of string through it and tie some knots on one end ,,place the board over hole from above so string hangs.. down mix a small amount of carlite bonding (ask builder) pull on string and patch hole ..leave to dry ..if not to smooth use a little polyfilla sand carefully when dry ..cut string level with ceiling ..EASY
- Q: I have some plasterers doing some work in my kithchen at the moment, and i've just had the kitchen damp proffed with injection and a roll of bitchumen membrane up to approx a metre high all round the kitchen. The plasterers have told me that the dry wall won't stick to the bitchumen membrane, so have suggested putting up a stud frame all round the kitched so that they can screw the plasterboards to the new stud frame!! Is this really necessary?? Does plasterboarding with dry wall adhesive really not stick to sheet roll's of bitchumen?? Also, they have also told me that you can't drywall with foil back boards as the adhesive won't stick to the foil....is this also true???Many thanks
- plasterboard or sheetrock is not glued to any backing. It must be nailed or screwed onto a frame. never heard of the adhesive way.

- Open mold cutting
- Q: Appearance, material, etc. What are the differences?
- The difference between MDF and gypsum board - MDF features. Advantages: uniform density, easy processing, you can do carving, you can paste a variety of veneer and decorative panels on the surface. Hard density board by punching, drilling, can also be made of sound-absorbing panels. Disadvantages: the biggest drawback is poor water resistance, water swelling rate is large, easy to deformation; grip screw force difference; with plastic volume, with the glue is not good, the seal work is not good, then formaldehyde release will be relatively large. The difference between MDF and gypsum board - the characteristics of gypsum board. Advantages: moisture, fire, breathable, and construction is simple. Disadvantages: difficult to deal with the gap, easy to crack, no noise, no insulation (can be added asbestos solution), wall vulnerability and so on.
- Q: Is plasterboard another name for drywall?
- Technically no but the terms are used interchangeably nowadays. Plasterboard used to be a rough textured sheet product used to provide a base for the final skim-coat plaster. After sheet rock was perfected in the mid 60s nobody used plasterboard anymore but the name stuck.
- Q: I recently installed a Peerless Wall Mount to support my 46 LCD. Every installation guide I find tells me I absolutely need a stud when installing on a plaster board. However, I could not find a stud in my apartment wall and the plasterboard (if it is that - not quite sure of the material, the building was originally built in 1952 - if anyone has any insight on what it could be I'd appreciate it) was 2 to 3 deep. I used concrete spacers with the screws (which were also about 2 - 3 in depth). It seems exceptionally sturdy.Am I ok are or am I being delusional?
- If the tv is fairly light it should hold ok but the problem with plaster walls is when it breaks up it usually does it in mighty big chunks of it at a time. The older it is the more brittle it becomes. Personally I would have felt better hitting a stud when mounting it but maybe you won't have a problem.

- I know it seems a lot of fuss but, when you try to find the wall studs, I bet they wont be exactly where you want them to be. My advise might seem way over the top, but I believe it to be the safest, cut out a square of wallboard between the studs, roughly covering the area of the mounting brackets, fix timber fixings flush with the studs so you have a solid timber fixing where your t.v. mounting brackets are, replace wallboard, tape any joints, fill and sand when dry, you can now mount the brackets.
- Q: hi i am going to put wallboard up in my girlfriends shop...i was going to use 2by 2 timber studding....but some one said you can get alliminium studding...any 1 know anything about this or any links to websites
- If this is a business code states that you must use metal studs and 5/8 drywall for a fire stop.Metal studs are held together with a self tapping screw. You can buy a metal cutting blade for your saw.You will also need a self tapping screw to hang the board.

- Gypsum board is a kind of material made of building gypsum as the main raw material. It is a light weight, high strength, thinner thickness, easy processing and insulation and fire insulation and other good performance of the building materials, is currently focused on the development of one of the new lightweight sheet
