T-Mobile phones are usually locked for use only on T-Mobile, but if you buy them at full price directly from T-Mobile, they'll unlock it for you. (well not the Sidekicks, but other T-Mobile phones.) You can also buy just about any phone already unlocked on like OKorder and places like that. Usually you'll get most services when using a different phone, but there might be some special features that are not available. (for example if a T-Mobile customer has a myFaves plan but uses an ATT phone, they can't manage their Fave Five on the phone itself.)

- These are questions probably only T-Mobile can answer. Here's my best advice as a T-Mobile customer for years- Don't deal with customer service on the phone. GO INTO A T-MOBILE STORE! They are awesome. Go in - Take them your phone - tell them your problems - ask your questions - they'll let you know what your options are. It's possible you need a new battery? Last time that happened to me, the store associates GAVE me a new one FREE. You are able to upgrade your phone, but you have to have a good payment history and have had the phone for a certain amount of time (can't remember how long that is).
