- Q: I have a girl that I like in the Ukriane, but every time I call her from my home phone line to her mobile phone! She can barely hear me, I experianced this same problem with another person but then we tried having me make a phone call from my home in Ohio, to their home int he Ukriane and I heard them pretty well! with no problems! What's going on with this, is this on my end or their end on why they can hardly hear me! It seems to always happen when I call European mobile phones in particular, or do you think it is my phone at home! Bu that wouldn;t make sense on why I can hear them fien when I call from my house to their house! Can anyone help, comments would greatly be appreicated?
- It is a bit complicated, but to summarize: When you call from your home to her home, your long distance carrier routes the call over the international trunk lines, through the telco in Ukraine, and directly to her home phone. When you call to her mobile phone, the call takes the same route, but the telco in Ukraine routes the call to her mobile carriers central call center, and then the call has to be searched in Ukraine to find her phone and the call is carried over their cellular network which may involve routing it through several different carriers (cellular) and connections (landline telcos), depending on where she is and what company her mobile service is with. Interconnects between carriers in Ukraine are very poor (they route competitors calls through the worst lines, to obtain more direct customers). Depending on who your phone company uses to carry international calls to Europe, the quality of the call might be better or worse. A call through a calling card is usually as you experience. Redialing may make her hear you, but you do not hear her. In my experience, direct dialed calls through Vonage are usually good in both directions at a reasonable price (16 cents a minute). QWest direct dialed call to a mobile in Ukraine is usually very good (but very expensive - 26 cents a minute). A good calling card (about 50% chance of a good connection) is the Continental card from phonecards.waytorussia (at 11 cents a minute) - and it allows her to call you for the same price via sms callback (and the connection that way is very good).
- Q: What is the network. What cell phone is C network?
- CDMA technology has a strong advantage, making it the future direction of the development of mobile communications.
- Q: I was planning on buying a cell phone from t-mobile, the motorola cliq xt. i was gonna buy the phone with a 2 year contract since it's cheaper, but i noticed the cheapest plan is $39.99. I also noticed that once i click the plan, it brings me to a services page where it says required services are android and T-Mobile Android Unlimited Web. do i REALLY need the unlimited web plan or can i just buy the phone/39.99 plan? the unlimited web plan is $30 alone so it would cost 69.99/month. this is my first phone with an actual plan(currently mine is pre-paid), so i don't know much about them. thanks for any input!
- i recommend staying with prepaid. with that said, yes, most of there phones require an unlimited data plan for 30 dollars. and it's not just t-mobile that requires it, verizon is the same way. i say it's just another way for phone companies to get more money. i have straight talk and i love it. it's prepaid and it runs on the verizon network so it has great service. for 30 dollars a month you get 1,000 minutes, 1,000 text/picture messages and 30 MB of data or for 45 dollars a month you get unlimited everything. there's no roaming fees. unlimited calls to 411 at no extra charge, where on other providers it could cost any where from 1.29 to 1.99 for a 411 call. but that's up to you. i have had service with verizon postpaid, t-mobile, tracfone, net10, straight talk, verizon prepaid, t-mobile prepaid, u.s. cellular postpaid and i have to say prepaid wins. contracts really suck. yes the phones are nicer, but unless you pay full retail for the phone and not sign a contract, i don't recommend going with a postpaid account. good luck deciding.
- Q: Are you for or against mobile phones being dangerous?please give reasons :D(for my essay)thanks x
- As with all pieces of technology, Mobile Phones cannot be considered dangerous just by itself. Mobile phones CAN be dangerous - that is, if used erroneously. It can be beneficial because of its portability. It's a communication device you can use to send messages to someone and call those people away from your current location. Apart from its typical functions, most PDA/Smartphones can be used to access the internet through Wireless Fidelity (WiFi) or a network-based access point (like 3G and HSPA). It simply solutions the communication needs of businesspeople and the common mass (consumers). Though the benefits are great, it can still be used for other, more dangerous things. Take for example an IED (Improvised Explosive Device). If someone rigs a set of explosives, a fuse and a mobile phone, he or she got him/herself an IED that he/she can trigger remotely with a cellphone. Also, on a lighter but related note, most modern PDA/Smartphones (like the Nokia N95, etc.) have GPS capabilities. That means, if the unlikely chance of some virus gets installed in your PDA/Smartphone, then a hacker can easily track where you are as long as you have an eye-to-sky (direct contact with the sky) GPS connection. Added to everything, a cellphone can be dangerous if one does not know how to mask information. Imagine a child answering a cellphone call from an unknown person and giving his or her address to the stranger.
- Q: i dont want to resign for 2 years with nextel, but i need a new phone. if i buy a boost mobile phone ( looking at the i9 Stature) will i just be able to put in my nextel sim and it work? I have heard it will but it needs to be unlocked first, what does that mean?
- Ok here is the dealBoost Mobile is Nextel's prepaid phone service. Even though they are pretty much the same company unfornately you still can't interchange the sim cards because of Nextel being programmed as a contract service and Boost is programmed as a prepaid service. Unlocking the phone has nothing to do with the sim card but with the Esn or Meid number which is found on the sticker underneath your battery on your phone. Some retailers will take that number and unlock it so that you can use that phone on any carrier that you wish but you have to find a company that will do that. Without the phone being unlocked you are stuck having to use the phone on the given carrier it belongs to. I hope this has helped and God Bless!
- Q: I need to purchase a new mobile phone when I get to Malaysia. Am I able to purchase a prepaid sim card that will able to phone Australia. What advice could you give me.
- Hi. I'm using a Australian model of sony ericson k901i. i'm also using malaysian celcom sim card. it works wonders. to answer your question. i dont think they will be a problem on just purchasing sim card use it on your handphone. if you want to make sure, just ask the shop to try it on your handphone (make sure bought it at handphone dealer shop). so no need for you buy one (new hand phone). i also suggest you to buy Celcom simcard. due to its ability to use on rural areas. your travelling adventure might end up or travel to rural areas which some of the phone provider dont have an excess
- Q: I use my mobile phone as an alarm clock and i always have it beside me but i heard that it is not good because of the waves or something like that. i just want to know whether there are any harms if you have your mobile phone with you if you are sleeping.
- i also use my mobile as an alarm clock and i put it beside me. oooooooooh, now i know why i've been acting so weird lately :D nah, kidding. some say that the waves may b hurtful, but i dont think so. i put it on the dresser right near my bed, i dont think the waves would hurt. but i dont know for sure. good luck with that, to all of us :)
- Q: I want a mobile phone like Samsung Corby or Blackberry or Nokia Xpressmusic Touchscreen that has WiFi Dont give me iPod Touch. I want it from Samsung or Blackberry or Nokia. Plz SAMSUNG OR BLACKBERRY OR NOKIA MOBILES THAT HAVE WIFI I need it.DONT ASK ME TO BUY ANOTHER MOBILES AND IT SHOULD BE CHEAP.
- A few options here 1) Nokia N97 : Full capacitive touchscreen, 5MP cam, QWERTY Keypad, Symbian S60 V5, 434mHz processor, 128MB RAM 2) Nokia X6 : Full capacitive touchscreen, 5MP cam, XpressMusic, Symbian S60 V5, 434mHz processor, 128MB RAM 3) Samsung Omnia II : Full capacitive 3.7 AMOLED touchscreen, 5Mp cam, Windows mobile 6, 800mHz processor, 256MB RAM 4) Samsung i8910: Full capacitive 3.7 AMOLED touchscreen, HD Video recording and playback (720p), Symbian S60 V5, 8Mp cam, 600 mHz processor, 256MB RAM All the above have GPS, wifi, Full touchscreen, Divx Xvid and H.264 Playback and are fully bundled with good music as well as video capabilities. If you dont have any problems with your pocket my recommendation is the Samsung i8910 because of high multimedia capacities and 8MP cam or if you want windows Omnia II is the one for you So GOOD LUCK !!!
- Q: i am wanting a phone from boost mobile but want a straight talk plan?? can I do this
- No, that will not work, and for several reasons: 1.) Straight Talk will not accept a Boost Mobile phone, period. 2.) Boost Mobile phones are not compatible with Straight Talk's GSM SIM cards. 3.) Boost Mobile phones with SIM card slots are either iDEN (which will not work with a GSM SIM card), or are locked from being used outside of Boost Mobile.
- Q: i need a write-up on the positive points of mobile phones. a genuine answer gets free 10 points! there are many uses. so list 'em all! i'll really appreciate your help
- This is easy talk about stealing candy from a baby LOL. Ok joking aside, serious positive points of mobile/cell phones are disabled people can keep in contact easier with worried parents at any age. Women can keep in contact with family better when out alone. Disabled and women can call for help better after a car crash or break down. There are quite a few that escape me for now.
