- Q:runs into the power unit. How do I make the chain stop so the metal unit doesnt run into the power unit and get locked up? I already adjusted the chain but it didnt work.
- Hrly's right. However, one more potential problem- If turning the up limit switch doesn't change where it stops, the internal limit switch assembly may be damaged, loose, or may have a corroded contact. Quote frankly, if your unit is more than ten years old, it may be well worth it to replace it.

- My first thought would be to spray a silicone based product into the lock to lubricate the locks, but that also may not be the best idea. Perhaps when the liquid (Coke) completely dries, the stickiness will eventually wear off. Good luck with that. Maybe changing the rules about food and drinks in the car may need to be ammended in your household.

- my grandpas 2005 300c had the same thing happen (his was just the drivers door but after research we found out there was a fault in some chrysler/dodge cars around that year) turns out in the door in the wiring bundle (between the door and the car not in the door) there was a broken wire because they made it too short and after years of opening and closing it finally broke so we found the wire and just spliced in a new one to join them and hes been good ever since
- Q:Does anyone have a rough idea of what it would cost to buy all the necessary parts and install an automatic garage door? The garage is a small, one car garage. - It is possible to install opener on any door. Some require a little more work than others, like reinforcing struts etc. The rule of thumb is - the easier the door woks, the longer the opener is going to last. If you do it yourself, probably under two hundred. If you have professional do it, $300 plus. Buy a good quality one (from a professional) even if you install it your self. Parts are easier to get. If you get one from Lowe's/Home Depot most dealers don't stock parts for those throw-aways.
- Q:I have a 2 car steal roll up door with a Genie 1024. It's by far the slowest opener I've seen. On my 3rd door I have an old American Door co opener and it's at least twice as fast. The springs on the door are well balanced. I tested them by disconnecting the opener and ensuring I could open the door by hand with just two fingers. Is there some sort of speed adjustment? BTW it's been slow since the day it was installed.
- Well, the Genie openers are designed to open at 7 per second, so a standard door (7') will open in a little more than ten seconds. The 1024 has a soft-start feature which opens the door more slowly at first, then speeds up to normal. It could be that yours is stuck in the soft mode. If that's the problem, I can't tell you how to fix it, but a serviceman could (if no one here can explain it). If it's a problem with the motor, you'll have to resort to the guarantee (they offer a lifetime warranty on the motor and gear assembly), and lots of time communicating with them. Good Luck
