- well have the same thing going on with mine, but my remote is older and the transmiter i think is bad, i just have to get another one, but for you, all automatic door's have a deactivating lever, you should go into the grage, while the door is closed, and you know that little red string that uve always see but never pay attention to, if some one had pulled that down, it would have deactivated the door, so when u hit the remote it sounds like it gets the signal but the power chain had been releasedu have to push the lever back up into the rail, that shoud work

- Q: I have disconnected the chain and am working only with the motor itself at this point. The motor will operate in only one direction, but will turn by hand in the other without binding. I also ruled out sensors and up/down force adjustments. (Actually it is so old that it did not require the optional sensors.) This appears to be an issue with whatever mechanism starts the motor in the opposite direction. It does appear to have any mechanical issues that prevent this so I am thinking some sort of solenoid or something. I also burnished the little relay contacts to no avail. Sears/Craftsman Model 139.53513 Anybody have any thoughts? ( besides buy a new one ; )
- I answered this in part yesterday. Viewed from above, closing should be CW and opening should be CCW of the sprocket. If you are good at visualization if you start the motor going down and short #'s 1 and 2 again the sprocket should stop CW rotation and start CCW rotation back up . If you short 3's 1 and 2 and the motor is pulling the door up shorting 1 and 2 should stop the motor. The next short of 1 and 2 should send the door down (CW rotation). Please let me know what happened. I get very little feedback.

- JimS is correct. With the door closed, disconnect the opener arm from the door (there should be a release cord). Try opening the door by hand. If unable to, or the door is difficult to open, then the door itself needs servicing. This may include a broken spring or a bad torsion bearing. I would highly recommend having a professional repair the door. If the door opens and closes without a problem, then the opener itself needs adjustment. You can try gradually increasing the open force setting until the door opens without a problem.
- Q: I accidentally kicked off one of my garage door eyes. I turned it back on, but now the door will not operate. I push the button and it moves forward and right back, then the unit clicks a few times. Can anyone help me get this back in working condition. It was with the house when I bought it, and there is no manual, so any help will be appreciated
- The eyes shine a beam across from one to another. The beam has to be lined up exactly or the door will start to close, then reverse itself and stay up/open. Keep adjusting the 'eyes' until they meet. One of them is probably the 'master' and will have a small light on it that shines only when the eyes meet. You may need to adjust how it sits on the rail, probably with a small screwdriver. Most garage door openers will have an online manual. Search for the name of your opener to see if that brand has one online. The 'box' that hangs from the ceiling will have the brand name and possibly model number on it.
- Q: The little wire that sticks out to receive the signal from the remote...can I make it longer by splicing it with something? Mine is acting up. I have it pointing outside but it seems to work only sometimes. I hear cold weather affects it as well.
- Lengthening the wire won't extend the range at all & sometimes will decrease the range. The receiver is tuned to the length of the wire that it came with from the factory. The antenna wire should be facing straight down toward the floor & not pointing outside. The normal range is 50 to 75' but can be shorter if there is a lot of outside interference. Make sure to have the battery in the remote checked also.
- Q: Does anybody know what type of electrical problem is causing this and know how to or who would fix this..?
- my mothers '92 Saturn does this,on those you have to pull the outer panels off to get at the electrical controls & such, rather a pain so i pulled the fuse, moisture is the culprit, it's just a long slow process to find it , pull and dry all the connections and slap di-electric grease on them when reassembling, that should help.
