- Q:We're replacing our decks railing, so I thought it would be nice to use it as a fence around some raised vegetable garden beds. We're planning on selling the house in 5 years or so, would this be appealing to buyers? A nice vegetable garden? Thanks!
- Not going to increase your value by a penny. As said earlier, some buyers may find it attractive, and others may find it a bother to be removed.
- Q:a garden? a few chickens? home remedies?
- I got a good laugh at your question. If the economy collapsed your neighbor with a gun would steal your vegetables, your chickens, and your meds. It's sad but that's the world of today.
- Q:Frogs croak all night and disturb sleep.
- I don't. The frogs control the insect population that is attempting to eat my entire garden. I love it. No cost, no poison, no problem and, the big ones fry up pretty good.
- Q:i need help, on what flowers to put in my gardening containersHeLp
- www.okorder / Your local library should have books or can get them from nearby libraries.
- Q:looking at raised bed garden company's that will come to your home and build and start these gardens for you
- In my area there are landscaping companies that specialize in edible landscaping and victory gardens. You should call the landscapers in your area and see if any will do it for you and if they don't maybe they can direct you to someone who will. If any of their adds say anything about permaculture you should call them.
- Q:My husband and I just bought our first home. We have been living in apartments for years and know nothing about gardening, etc.We pulled up a bunch of dead flowers, bushes, etc. around the house and now want to replant some. We know that we should plant perrenials, as I don't want to do this every year. I would like something that brings a little color to the garden. We have three different areas to plant them in. Two of the areas are not shaded, one is partially shaded.Any suggestions?
- Please be more specific, need to know where you're living, the situation (I.e seaside, mountain, farmland, etc;).Also, the aspect of your land (Which compass point does it face),the type of soil,(Sandy, stony, rocky, loam or clay). Is the garden sheltered or exposed, all have a bearing on the most suitable plants. Suggest a DVD or a subscription to a gardening magazine before investing a lot of money in what may be unsuitable plants. Hope this helps, good luck with your new garden-it'll provide endless amusement! OK,Back again.Buy a cheap soil testing kit.Check if the soil's acid, alkaline or neutral. That'll give you an idea what type of plants will suit, any good nursery will advise and most plants are labelled. Container grown roses are a good bet if the soil's fairly good.Considering the temps;mentioned they'd need watering well, but can be bought in bloom for an instant show. There's a start for the sunny areas, consult a local nurseryman for the shady part.Ferns, hostas, lily of the valley and rock geraniums might suit, but take local advice.
- Q:I would like to find out ad rates for different magazines from Home and Garden to Playboy does any one know how to find out these rates.
- Thousands of dollars
- Q:never visited or being to? for me it's categories like home and garden, pets, juts to mention a few.
- Finance, and many sports sub-catagories
- Q:for example plants, bugs, etc
- I know common wisdom says pond=dragonflies, but I do not have a pond. I do have a bird bath which I try to have filled with water, but don't always. I do have LOTS of dragonflies, though. They seem to love to sit and warm themselves on the rocks I have 3 high delineating my perennial border. Big flattish rocks.
- Q:My neighbor, who always worked outside in his yard, is now confined to a dementia ward in the local nursing home. He still responds to plants, trees, leaves etc. I did take him some bare branches in water off my corkscrew willow tree which have now leafed out and he likes that. What else can I do? I'm thinking of taking small pots full of potting soil and helping him start seeds, (coleus comes to mind as they could be transplanted and used as houseplants.) Do you have any other ideas? Obviously we are limited on space (there is a large windowsill in his room). Could we grow any vegetables? Thank you for any suggestions.
- We got my great grandmother a chia herb garden It was very simple, and only required the staff to water it daily. She could enjoy the fragrance and the staff could enjoy fresh herbs.
