Description

Ferro Silicon is a kind of ferroalloy which is composed of ferrum and silicon. Ferro Silicon uses coke, quartz

(or silica) as raw materials and is made by electric furnace. Owing to that silicon and oxygen are easily compounded

into SiO2, the ferrosilicon is often used as deoxidizer in steelmaking.

Features

 1. Fesi 75% is often used as deoxidizer in steel- making.

2. Ferrosilicon also can be used as alloy elements join agent, which is widely used in low alloy steel, non-ferrous metal, bearing steel, heat-resistant steels and electrician silicon-steel.

3. It can be used as a reductant in ferroalloy production and chemical industry.

Q: If so, how have geologic events played a role in forming this ore?
Iron ore and there is a famous monument of the Iron Man in Birmingham that I have been to.
Q: How is iron obtained from the environment and processed for use?
Iron ore is found as bog ore, nodules of hematite, or most commonly, large sediments called banded iron formations (these look cool and supply most of the worlds iron). To make it simple, mining removes the ore from the ground. The ore is crushed into very fine particles about the consistency of silt and clay. The iron is drawn off from these by powerful magnets. The iorn is combined with clay, and is pressed into pellets of taconite ore. At a refinery, the pellets are melted, and the molten iron is seperated in a blast furnace. The melted iron is then pressed/drawn into ingots, wire, tubes, etc.
Q: The color and hardness of hematite ore
Chalcopyrite is a kind of copper iron sulfide mineral. Brass yellow, often have blue, purple brown porphyritic tarnish surface. Green black streak. Metallic luster; opaque. No cleavage. Conductive [2]. Hardness 3~4. Sexual fragility. Relative density 4.1~4.3.
Q: A:heating the ore and carbon together.B:cooling the ore in an ice bath.C:breaking the ore into small pieces.D:panning.
you're not supposed to wash a cast iron skillet in soap and water because it can rust. if you need to rinse it out quick that's ok, but you should clean it with salt and a cloth (the salt will scrub the food off), wipe the salt out, (very quick rinse with water if you need to), add a little bit of oil and rub it all over the pan, and heat it in the oven. once it's heated up then turn the oven off and just leave it in there to cool down. this is the proper cleaning method because it keeps the pan seasoned, so nothing will stick to it. between the salt and the heat, all the germs get killed so you don't have to worry about getting sick. there's many different brands of cast iron cookware, just look for one that feels nice and heavy, not cheap and light. i would look at store websites to see what stores in your area carry them.
Q: why is iron found within an ore, but not gold???
Reactivity series: K, Na, Ca, Mg, Al, Zn, Fe, Pb, H, Cu, Hg, Ag, Au. (Highly reactive) --------------------------- (Least Reactive) The metals in the bottom of the reactivity series are the least reactive. They are often found in a free state. For eg: gold, silver and copper are found in free state. The metals at the top of the reactivity series are so reactive that they are never found in nature as free elements. They readily react with elements in the atmosphere and form ores. Iron is found in the top of the reactivity series and is highly reactive. This is why it is found in ores. Gold is one of the least reactive metals and is found at the bottom of reactivity series and is found mostly in the free state.
Q: How many grams of sulfuric acid can be obtained from 400 grams of iron ore if the ore is 80% FeS? The reactions involved are given below. Assume each reaction is 100% efficient. 4FeS + 7O2 -----gt; 2Fe2O3 + 4SO3 2SO3 + O2 -------gt; 2SO3SO3 + H2O ------gt; H2SO4
First you would find how much ore is 80% of 400g which is 320g. Now you will need to convert that to moles which is basically 320 /(87.91g/mol). Next use the moles you have to find the moles of S03 created based on the ratio of the first equation. (Mole is the coefficient in from the the substances.) Ex lets say you came out with four moles of FeS that would yield four moles of SO3 and based on stoichiometric balancing that would give you 4 moles of H2SO4. Lastly convert that moles back to grams of H2SO4 by multiplying it by the gram formula mass of H2SO4 or (98.09g/mol). Thus your ans should be 357.1g. But I find that your second equation seems incorret as well your first. As it should be S02+ O2 - SO3 and the first equation should yield SO2 not SO3.
