Aluminium foil (or aluminum foil) is aluminium prepared in thin metal leaves with a thickness less than 0.2 millimetres (8 mils); thinner gauges down to 6 micrometres (0.24 mils) are also commonly used.In the United States, foils are commonly gauged in thousandths of an inch or mils. Standard household foil is typically 0.016 mm (0.63 mils) thick, and heavy duty household foil is typically 0.024 mm (0.94 mils). Thefoil is pliable, and can be readily bent or wrapped around objects. Thin foils are fragile and are sometimeslaminated to other materials such as plastics or paper to make them more useful. Aluminium foil supplantedtin foil in the mid 20th century.

In North America, aluminium foil is known as aluminum foil. It was popularized by Reynolds Metals, the leading manufacturer in North America. In the United Kingdom and United States it is, informally, widely called tin foil, for historical reasons (similar to how aluminum cans are often still called "tin cans").Metallised films are sometimes mistaken for aluminium foil, but are actually polymer films coated with a thin layer of aluminium. In Australia, aluminium foil is widely called alfoil.

Aluminium (or aluminum; see spelling differences) is a chemical element in the boron group with symbol Al and atomic number 13. It is a silvery white, soft, nonmagnetic, ductile metal. Aluminium is the third most abundant element (after oxygen and silicon), and the most abundant metal in the Earth's crust. It makes up about 8% by weight of the Earth's solid surface.

Aluminium metal is so chemically reactive that native specimens are rare and limited to extreme reducing environments. Instead, it is found combined in over 270 different minerals. The chief ore of aluminium is bauxite.

Q: Okay so I have a chem test tomorrow and I still can't figure this density thing outIf someone could explain in detail how to do these questions, I would REALLY appreciate it!1You have a sample of lead with a mass of 4.54 gIt measures 4.2 cm long, 2.1 cm wide and 1.9 cm highDetermine its densityIs it really lead?2An aluminum cube has a density of 2.70 g/cm3It measures 1.5 cm on one sideWhat is the mass of the cube?
Be sure to allow the stiches to move smoothly across the needleIf you can't insert the other needle into a stitch, you have too much tension.
Q: What is the thickness of the foil in millimeters?
How you are going about conducting this experiment and the items you are utilizing such as a thermometer or beakerWhere did the dry ice come from? Record conditions such as temperature, where it is being conducted and who is conducting the experimentAre any reference materials being used? Include the steps you have done.1,2,3Provide any additional knowledge about your observationsHope this helpsGood luck!
Q: Performing an experiment about Thermal expansionabout a aluminium tube and copper tube having a connection with steam water in one end of the tube and steam comes out on the other side.water is left inside the tube when the experiment is finishedand you conduct another experiment without removing the water inside the tubethe question is:Would the result be different if the condensed water was not drained from the expansion tube? why?
Would the result of the second experiment (which we don't know anything about) be different? Well, lets say the second experiment is to determine the amount of water contained in the tubeWell, obviously, if water is left in the tube, then the results would be different if you dried it out first or not.
Q: Hi,Sorry I have absolutely no idea of how to prepare Western cuisineI was invited to a party where I was offered this stuff - looks like a cheesecake, but when I ate them it didn't taste sweet [I mean it was NOT a dessert item for sure], rather it tasted like it had vegetables in them.they were so DELICIOUS.Do you have a clue what it might be? If yes, could you kindly provide step-by-step instruction on how to prepare them.THANK YOU very much!!!!
HEAT UP YOUR OVEN TO 350 DEGREES IT WILL RELEASE ITAFTER YOUR OVEN COOLS USE YOUR OVEN CLEANER TO GET THE REST OFF
Q: I'm bloody confusedCan someone help me with this problem? How much heat would be required to increase the temperature of 1.000 kg of aluminum by 4.000 degrees celsius? My chemistry teacher was gone all last week so this wasn't explained.
This is an energy questionIt takes energy to raise the temperature of somethingFirst of all we need to know the heat capacity of aluminumYou should have some sort of table to find thisOne value I found was 0.897 J/(g-K) meaning it takes 0.897 Joules of energy to raise the temperature of 1 gram of aluminum by 1 degreeIn this case you have 1 Kg of aluminum, which is 1000 grams and you want to raise the temp by 4 degreesJ 0.897J/(g-K) x 1000g x 4K The g and K cancel out leaving J Do the mathGood luck!!
Q: I bought a whole pack of aluminum foil and now i have a lot of it left after my project is doneWhat fun and creative thing can I do with it?
Pulsing means turning the food processor on and off instead of continuously mixingTo make the batter you could probably use a blender or if you have an electric hand mixer that would work tooOr, you could just buy some pre-made pie crust or pastry sheets from the grocery storeYou could include onions, red and green peppers, carrots, mushrooms, zucchini, squash, cauliflower.Really anything you like.
Q: Here's the problem:A package of aluminum foil contains 50ft? of foil, which weighs approximately 8.0 ozAluminum has a density of 2.70g/cm? (cubed)What is the approximate thickness of the foil in milliliters? Can someone please solve/explain the problem? Thank you in advance!
So if we unroll the foil we have a rectangular sheetIt's area is 50 ft?Let's convert to cm?50 ft? (30.48cm/ft)^2 46451 cm?The volume of the rectangular sheet is the area times the thickness(T)46451 cm? (T) V We can calculate V based on the weight using the density and solve the above equation for TNow we know the weight is 8.0 ozLet's convert it to grams 8oz 28.3 gram/oz 226.4 grams Density V 226.4 g 2.70g/cm? V 226.4 g V 226.4/2.70 83.85 cm^3 Back to this equation: 46451cm? (T) V 46451cm? (T) 83.85 cm^3 T 83.85/46451 0.001805 cm
Q: I was wondering if you can regulate temperature of the GHD Straighteners, because I was reading their options and I didn`t see if there was one.
Yeah.like right now.
Q: I'm trying to stop my cats from getting on the couchWhat smell do they not like that I can sprinkle or spray
They can't stand the smell of orange oil However, you might want to try putting some sheets of aluminum foil on your couchesCats don't like that, either.
