- wet sand paper will e what you want to use as a final producti would suggest that 200 grit to start and then like 600 700You can use a more coarse sand paper if you want but it will require more sand to get it smooththe lower the number the more coarse the paperthis herculiner you speak of sounds like a coarse spray on bedlinerIf this is the case then the bumber doesnt have to be perfectly smooth but should not feel roughthe more time spent on sanding the better it will turn outyou could probly get away with a power sander or a portable sandblaster (hopper blaster) just make sure if u sand blast i you cover anything you dont want to get sanded with a thick material like cardboardhope this helps and good luck!
