Q:ever had your electrical equip. tripped off by GFCI RECEPTERSdid it damage your hard drives, toasters, microwaves ect.?
shouldn't damage electronic devices unless when the GFI trips it breaks the neutral first and applies only a live wire to the device, that could damage electronic devices. It could be possible but may be rare.
Q:I bought an appliance and it says I need a 15 amp NEMA (standard) outlet to plug it into. The picture looks like that of a household plug outlet, 2 prongs and 1 bar, but drawing is round instead of oval. Says if not available to call electrician. Are these the same (household outlet and the NEMA 15 amp)?
Its a standard outlet, and can be used anywhere. If it shows only one outlet it could be saying that it needs to be dedicated but realistically any outlet that is in the laundry area of your home is already supposed to be independent of any other outlets. No big deal.
Q:I received 63J at meps and it is a chemical equipment repair job can someone give me the details on this job and what i would do if mobilized. thank you.

Some of your duties as a Quartermaster and Chemical Equipment Repairer may include: Maintaining and repairing electrical/fuel heater systems, pumps, decontamination systems, protective filter systems, smoke generator systems and quartermaster and chemical equipment electrical systems Job training for a Quartermaster and Chemical Equipment Repairer consists of nine weeks of Basic Training, where you'll learn basic Soldiering skills, and 11 weeks of Advanced Individual Training, including practice in marine engine maintenance and repair. Part of this time is spent in the classroom and part in the field. You'll learn: Internal combustion engine theory Use and care of hand and power tools Helpful attributes include: An interest in shop mechanics An interest in fixing engines and machinery An ability to use hand and power tools A preference for doing physical work Advanced level Quartermaster and Chemical Equipment Repairers supervise and train other Soldiers within the same discipline. The skills you learn as a Quartermaster and Chemical Equipment Repairer will help prepare you for a civilian career with the marine transportation, commercial fishing, oil exploration or oil drilling industries. You'll be able to consider a future as a marine engine mechanic.
Q:do mechanical engineers also get involved with electronics?
Engineering is usually a team sport. The mechanical engineer consults with the electrical engineer for the development of the product, then it gets reviewed for approval by the principal engineer.
Q:I have a mini (just like 5x6 inch) Lasko personal space heater. It is not originally intended for heating for tanks and cages, but since it is ceramic I was 't sure if it would be okay. It has safety features such as overheat protection and cool touch housing. Would it be good to use in the tank for the snake? He's a baby cornsnake, and the tank is a 29 gallon glass tank (like an aquarium). I already have a heating pad and two heat lamps, but it still won't get warm enough. And I don't want to use central heating to heat the whole house just for his small space. Not to mention, it just stopped working. I know I can get a conventional ceramic heat emitter, but since this is what I have, I'm hoping it will work.
Rule of thumb with reptiles: Never put any heat source inside of the cage. Sounds like the house is fairly cool. What are the wattages you are using for the two lamps and also what are the current temps (day/night)? Please add this detail. I do have a suggestion as to part of the problem. The average 29 gallon tanks are talls, not longs or wides. When tanks are talls, they are harder to heat and maintain that heat.
Q:I suspect my house electrical ground isn't working and had suffered equipment loss due to loss thunder strike.
The last three electric utility companies we've done business with offer whole-house lightning protection, with a guarantee. Not free, but the good stuff. I've not used it, having just the usual consumer electronics, not like a home-office server system, etc. Out here in the plains, we have some of the biggest thunder storms in the country, too. If it's a Big one, I'd more likely physically unplug my best stuff, take a bit to get ready to go to basement shelter if a tornado warning is broadcast, and call anybody that's away from home to make sure they stay alert. Next door, the neighbor's house was hit by lightning three times over ten years, finally apparently stopped by tree-pruning and complete removal of one big tree that, at about 120ft in height, had acted as a lightening rod. Just an anecdote.
Q:I'm comparing the GP 6500 with 389 cc engine (splash lubrication) to the XG 6500 with a 410 cc industrial engine (oil pump pump lubrication). I would be using it for home emergency use, so I doubt I really need the industrial engine with oil pump. Over 10 years it will probably only get 100 hours on the engine mostly at a consistent 50% load with occasional short term peaks closer to max (toaster, sump pump coffee pot, etc). So I'm leaning towards the cheaper GP. But want to consider the following:Are they both easy to pull start? The biggest engine I pull start is my snowblower with a 250cc OHV Briggs. But when starting only the engine is turned, i.e. it's not engaged to the snowblower yet. The hardest thing I have to start is my power washer with a 160cc OHV Kohler. I think because it's directly connected to the pump which makes it harder to start. Is the XG industrial engine quieter than the GP engine?

Q:I want to know if it would be feasible to make exercise equipment (like a bike, treatmill, stair stepper, etc.) that would produce a small amount of electricity when used. Could this type of equipment be modified to produce enough electrical energy to make a noticeable difference in a monthly power bill? If it was feasible, think about the benefits! Not only would we have a new (albeit small) source of energy, but we might be motivated to get off our butts and exercise more. Okay, its a wacky thought, but I just wondered. What do you think?
To produce enough electrical energy to make a difference on your power bill, you would have to eat twice as much as Michael Phelps training for the olympics. That would be expensive. Food isn't cheap, and your body produces heat when it works (energy loss), and only can provide a bit of power as a result. Also, you'd lose energy in the transformation of the electricity into something useful - whether you were storing it in a battery (chemical energy loss), pumping it into your tv (transformer energy loss), or transmitting it somewhere else (transmission energy loss). Lot of bikes have self-powered capability, but they also have minimal logic and minimal displays.
Q:I am an electrical engineering student ,but I dont know what to do when I graduate. I like music and I want to do something with music. I have heard of audio/sound or acoustic engineering, but I don't know exactly what an audio/sound or acoustic engineer does.
You could build electronic music instruments and effects. Amplifiers are another domain were first class talent is needed. All of this sounds easy but wait until you try and you will find that none of it is.
Q:I seem to have an adverse affect on computers and electrical equipment. My sheer presence seems to upset them.I'm not a stranger to technology, so it's not me being dim, but more and more often I've crashed supermarket checkouts, I was even sent to the other side of a store by my husband because the computer our details were being loaded on crashed time after time. I walked away and all was well in the world (well the store anyway). My laptop (even with the latest updates) has a mind of it's own sometimes. Coincidence or am I electrically overcharged?
