- Q:tiles at the top of my pool have fallen off, these tiles are in the water. what is best or suggested adhesive to reinstall them?
- If you are redoing your tile,it means they have fallen off from one of two things: 1)movement.....clean the areas where tiles fell off with alcohol,then use silicone to put tiles back on and colored silicone for the grout....wipe excess silicone off tile face with scour pad and dish soap..looks fantastic and gives a little with movement! 2)water got behind tile..you must first fix mastic around pool or area where water is getting behind tile,then put tiles back on as above....the area must be bone dry before you atempt to put tiles back on....alcohol helps dry and clean..
- Q:Moved into a house where prior owner used glazed porcelain tile. Job unfinished but a little tile left behind. Not enough! Can anyone help me find GEO CERAMICHE Natura Sable BL 12x12 (or larger, I can cut it down). Have looked online to no avail (yet). - Find where the tile was bought 1st.. Many big box stores will private label name brand tiles ( and many products) so you can t cross shop them..After 4 years I won t give you much of a chance to find them ..sorry... Styles change along w/ technology and they switch things to change w/ the times.It may be still available but chances are slim..Is it in a place that some sort of mosaic can be used as a decoration? Or maybe a good rug? Start w/ the big box stores but don t waste to much gas chances are slim .. I wish you luck ..

- The tile isn't as important as what the tiles are mounted to. Make sure you use material specific for wet areas. as for which one to use, it would depend on which one you like, and can afford. I like the looks of bigger tiles, but would much rather install smaller tiles. Bigger tiles can be a pain when it comes to making difficult cuts.
- Q:I‘m thinking about having a bathroom tiled. The bathroom is about 6 by 8 and right now the walls have a horrible pink and black alternating ceramic tile that goes up about 4 feet on the wall all the way around. All I want to do is replace this tile with a glass tile. I have no idea what the cost would be for materials and labor so any estimates would be appreciated. This is the only work I need done.
- If you live near a Floor Decor Store, you should be able to find a decent glass tile for around $2.00/ square foot. Now, assuming it is on all four walls covering every bit of those walls, 4 ft. high, that would be about 112 square feet. Plus, you always need to buy around 15% waste. So, total you would need to buy 129 square ft. of tile. You also would need Mastic to put the tile on the wall, should cost you $50 or less for enough to tile the area you have. Labor should run you about $500-700 for the removal of the old tile and installation of the new tile. There is however one issue you might not have thought of. If you remove the old tile, it will most likely destroy the walls it is attached to. From the way it sounds, this is old tile that was installed using something called a mud bed. This is basically metal wire and weakened concrete. All of this will have to be removed and new sheet-rock or green board will have to be installed. The cost of this would run you another $600-800 in labor and materials. So your worst case scenario, would run you around $1800. - Q:my boss wants to remove floor tiles and stain the cement floor underneath the tile, what is a easy way to remove the old tile
- There is no easy way, just some ways that aren't quite as difficult as others. Get a floor scraper from HD or Lowe's. Also get a stiff putty knife and a torch. Use the knife and torch to start an area, then pop the rest of the tiles off with the floor scraper. Next, you will need to remove the adhesive. Use the torch to soften the glue, then scrape it off with the putty knife. Once you get the majority off, you can use adhesive remover, which is available at most tile stores, to get the rest off. If you can, use a sander on the floor to remove any traces of the adhesive before staining. Hope this helps.
- Q:We are renovating our bathroom and I don‘t want to take out the existing vanity just update it, we were considering tiling the countertop, can we go right over the existing laminate or should we remove the whole counter top, or is it possible to just take off the laminate?
- I tiled over the laminate in my kitchen by sanding the laminate with coarse sandpaper....priming with oil-based kilz-it and then tiled and grouted. It's still in the kitchen for over 7 years. You could also remove the countertop from the cabinet and replace with 1/2 plywood topped with 1/4 cement board but you would have to cut out the whole for the sink. Tiling over it is much easier. Just figure out your tile layout. I used 12 tiles for my custom countertop in my bathroom.
