- Q:What I want to build is a cube made out of semi-transparent acrylic sheets with a lightbulb ballast screwed down to the floor of the cube and the electrical cord leading out. This will look really cool because it will be a soft white light cube that can be used even as a side table. I don't know where to get the acrylic sheets or how to attach them to each other. - home depot would have the parts you need for this. use flouresant light covers, cut four of them into squares, if it is really opaque you can hotglue the edges together. its simple, these were really popular on HGTV type shows like 3 years ago, they made them all the time. simple project, highly effective, i wouldn't be surprised if you could find one at a store like IKEA, already made.

- sterile equipment tape (at least that's what my dentist uses). It comes on a roll of tape (just like regular tape) and sort of looks like cellophane.

- Not much to do with the AC except cover it tightly on the inside with a plastic sheet secured tightly. Covering the outside could be dangerous due to height and what if someone turns it on while that outside cover is on, you could damage the unit. Thats just the nature of those things, they are a big hole in your wall. The vent hood should have a damper that is forced open by the flow of air when the blower is on. Take off that filter and see if you can see such a thing and see if it is working properly. If you block this device off, use a non flamable material such as foil etc.

- It is not plastic. It is vinyl clad drywall. The same as in a stick built house, only with vinyl on top, and maybe 1/2 thick. Home Depot and Lowe's sell it. Check your own prices.
