- Q: I have these skateboard wheels with bearings that have been used for FOREVER, they have probably been in these wheels for more than two years. And this skateboard has been left out in the open all of the time, so the bearings are really really dirty but not too rusted so I am going to try to use them in some different wheels. I have tried to get them out with a screwdriver and using the axel on one of my trucks, but it is so stuck in there with dirt probably that it makes it really difficult to get out, even when I apply a lot of pressure. I don't think it is physically possible for me to get it out with just human force, or maybe it's just me, idk, I have tried and tried and I've already broken one nail trying to get these stupid bearings out and I just want an easier way. What other things can I try to get them out of the wheels? I think they are still usable, probably they just need cleaning.
- any kind of lubercant and a good soak should make them slick enough to come out. if you do use something like wd-40 you'll have to make sure that you clean them good you don't want to have wd-40 on them it'll just make it more dirty. Some bearings are just naturally hard to get out of wheels, i've had this problem but i wasn't trying to save them so it just ruined them, they are probably still very usable just a good cleaning and some good lube will make them good again. If the axle things doesn't work and a screw driver doesn't work after you lube them up good then you're probably just out of luck and will need to just get new bearings. try to clean then wheels good to get most of that dirt out of there, a can of air will work good.
- Q: This may seem like a stupid question as I am just learning to skateboard.I bought a brand new complete board with abec 5 bearings and they seem quite stiff. Am I suppose to oil them before I ride or do they eventually loosen up as I ride? Also I took the riser pads off because I heard it makes it easier to learn to ollie, will this help me? I have 51mm wheels so I dont think they will rub against the board. Thanks for your help.
- There could be a couple causes but lack of lubrication is not a likely one. Does your board have greased bearings? Many cheap ones have way too much grease which is great in that they will be more water resistant and not need maintenance for a long time. However, they will take a long time to free up. You can open them and clean out the grease and relubricate them with the right amount or other materials. If this is the case, the wheels will turn smoothly but slowly. For some reason many (most?) boards come without bearing spacers. They keep the bearings from jamming with side loads (like turning or having the wheel nuts on snug). Check if loosening the nuts makes the wheels run faster.
- Q: Rods amp; bearings need to be replaced in an 98 Explorer. Need a temporary fix. Thanks.
- Temporary fix: Rental car.
- Q: People aay that your bearings can last up to a year or two if you takw care of them. Whats this mean? How?
- vehicles and wheels you may in simple terms wipe off with a humid cloth. For bearings you may desire to purchase a bones bearing purifier bottle and fluid for it and it will clean them. once you clean them use a low viscosity bearing lube for speedier bearings. My famous bearing lube is Bones velocity cream
- Q: so i was in my room thinking on how to make bearings faster so i thought of eye drops which they dont have water so i got some old rusty bearings n they dont go that fast cause there old n rusty so i put the eye drops on the bearings n they started going fast then i put them on my abec-5 lucky bearings which they r new n dont go fast cause i haven't broke them in already so i once again put the eye drops on the bearings n they went fast but my concern is, will the eye drops mess up my bearings
- NO water? NO WAY. They are principally water with a few other ingredients. You are not cleaning them if you are putting the drops in and leaving it. You are lubricating them. Water works for a short time but will destroy greases or gels and if you use enough to destroy them completely (or if they were oiled) will eventually rust the bearings. Rusted bearings will never be as good as new. Cleaning involves flushing out old oil/grease/gel/dirt/etc. Water is a suitable cleaning material (but will not reliably remove many lubricants) as long as you dry the bearings before adding new lubricant. If you want to add a little material to free up bearings, just use a little light oil. It is cheap and most hardware stores carry it in small tubes with a needle tip so you can get it in small places. I haven't cleaned bearings in years because I find it better to just get new ones when they are really bad. When I do: I start with lamp oil (desented kerosene) because it will remove any old lubricant that is holding crud in the bearing. Next water with dish detergent to remove the lamp oil (some people just dry them out by draining and relube at this point) Followed by rinsing in water to remove the soap, drain, and rinsing in denatured alcohol to dry them. Then use whatever lube you like.
- Q: My front driver's side wheel bearings need replaced. The current wheel bearings are open (visible when the hub is removed). When I look for replacement parts, OES and otherwise, the bearings offered are enclosed/canister style. This looks like it won't mate up properly with the existing hub. The auto parts store suggested removing the ring from the hub to make the new bearings fit. I'm concerned that doing so will irreparably damage the hub. To complicate things even more, it looks like the only style of hub available- OES included- are the type that work with the open bearings. Suggestions? Anyone ever had to modify a wheel hub? Advice is appreciated.
- This is the correct bearing. Its called a unit bearing and must be pressed in with a hydraulic press. Most front wheel drive cars use this set -up. A little tip: If the driver side is bad it likely the passenger soon to follow ,have them both done at the same time. To save some money remove the hubs from the car yourself.Take them to a shop have the bearings pressed. They should only charge about 35.00 each.
- Q: So I've been looking for some skateboard bearings on Amazon that are cheap do you guys think that these bearings are worth it and you think they work on other skateboards besides longboards(first link btw)?
- Flip Hkd abec 7
- Q: I was just wondering how the Bones Reds skateboard bearings would compare to the ABEC Rating. I know they are not measured by ABEC but what type of ABEC bearing would best compare to them? Thanks.
- shop up and get the bones swiss originals or micro yet while your merely going to be skating and thrashing merely purchase some low-fee bearings. i exploit quickly bearings for my long quickly boards and junky bearings for the skate park and highway
- Q: I need a new board. What is a good deck, trucks, wheels, and bearings. I'm thinkin an element or girl. What's ur preferance.
- Element deck, any element is good i'd say. I've got a Mike V Element it is sick. I also have a Plan B Ryan Sheckler deck that isn't bad at all. The Mike V is good for 360 flips. It has lots of pop. But its a smaller deck. The Plan B isn't bad either. On my Element I have, indepdent trucks, black label wheels and reds bearings. Reds bearings are really good. On my Plan B I have royal trucks, ricta wheels and element bearings.
- Q: okay my dad bought some stuff for my skatedboard berrings cuz they been goin kinda slow and im not sure if its good or not it cant attract dust so if anyone knows please help!
- I think this stuff should be fine, though I don't know if it will help speed up your bearings. I've used WD40 on my bearings before and it didn't seem to hurt, so you should be okay to put this stuff on. I would also recommend that you check in with a local skate shop and ask what they would consider before you put it on just in case.
