Q: Hi, I'm taking geology and was wondering which of the 2 minerals are most resistant to weathering?thanks
quartz cost alot more. Mercury vapors has an absorbance in the UV range and quartz is translucent to UV whereas borosilicate has absorbsion in the UV range. You won't get an accurate reading with borosilicate
Q: Whats quartz?
Unless the fine quartz dust brings a good price, after most of the gold is extracted 5.6 grams per tonne is not an economical gold ore. Since that is common sand, the shipping price likely exceeds the price, the residue will bring.
Q: give answer in cm3please show work, im not sure how to solve this problem(quartz coefficient of volume expansion is 1 x 10^-6)
Quartz is an essential constituent of granite and other felsic igneous rocks. It is very common in sedimentary rocks such as sandstone and shale and is also present in variable amounts as an accessory mineral in most carbonate rocks. It is also a common constituent of schist, gneiss, quartzite and other metamorphic rocks. Because of its resistance to weathering it is very common in stream sediments and in residual soils.
Q: what is rose quartz used for?
Because it is the single most common mineral in the earth's crust. Not really an in depth answer I realize but the bottom line is that quartz is so common on earth that it is incorporated into every type of rock...not just sedimentary ones. Peace.
Q: Why was the 1960s Ultra-Quartz movement by Longines such a great innovation?
It depends on what you are using it for. It can be blessed any way you like and worn any place you like. IF you are charging it fora specific purpose, then you need to learn how to charge items, but Rose Quartz isn't he only type of object that can be charged like that. -Scarlet
Q: Which is better? Why is Granite favored over the new engineered stones?
A vug is a natural void in a rock, and yes this is where rock crystals commonly grow. They are very common in limestone (pahasaps/madison formation, for example), forming calcite crystals. They are also common in volcanic areas, and rifted areas, such as thunder bay Canada. Crystals have some value, especially if it's a pretty specimen, but even gigantic ones (4 feet x 1 foot) only go for a thousand dollars or so. Check OKorder for geodes or quartz crystals. Continuing to grow the crystals would probably be possible, but it wouldn't be efficient, easy, or fun. Most likely it will just coat the entire rock in a powdery coat, wrecking it. You would want to start with a hot solution of silicic acid, and find some way to keep it mobile and saturated. The saturated solution and the heat would speed up the process. Vugs like that, especially with quartz occasionally contain gold. Might want to take a close look.
Q: to extract gold from crushed quartz using cyanide, how many grams of cyanide per kilogram of quartz should i add and how mach woter should i add to the cyanide?thank you
Quartz is silica, or silicon dioxide, SiO2.
Q: Also, how can you build your own laser?

Q: why do we find the word "QUARTZ" in watch?what, why, how about QUARTZ?
SiO2 molecules bond together into three dimensional hexagonal crystalline structures. This bonding is similar to how carbon bonds with carbon to create molecules of benzene. Both silicon and carbon have a tetrahedral arrangement of bonds around the nucleus of the carbon and silicon atom. An hexagonal arrangement of atoms or molecules takes less bonding energy to maintain, so energy is conserved when atoms or molelcules are arranged in hexagons. You probably can find a website that has a picture of the stoichiometry (how the atoms are arranged) in a quartz crystal. I hope this helps some. Please e-mail me if you need more help.
Q: A ray of light has an angle of incidence of 30.1 degrees on a block of quartz and an angle of refractionof 20.3 degrees/What is the index of refraction for this block of quartz?
Quartz is the most common mineral. It is also very durable at the earths surface. The easiest way to mine it would be to go to the beach with a bucket and spade. If the sand is a yellow colour, it will be quartz; all the less durable minerals will have weathered or eroded away. If it is a quartz crystal you are looking to mine, try hitting the rock around it with a hammer. Stone age man found that the quartz (in the form of flint) was easy to mine from chalk).
We are mainly engaged in developing and producing high-quality quartz glass products and CFQ tubes applied for light-sources, disinfection, chemical tubes, communication and heating equipment, and they are supporting materials for LSI. Our major products include 200-460mm large OD high purity quartz tubes with OH<20ppm, other quartz tubes with OD range from 2 to 200mm, ozone free quartz tubes, UV-stop quartz tubes, twin quartz tubes, (fishing lamps) bulb shells, quartz boats, quartz for vertical furnace, quartz pedestals, quartz tanks, clear quartz crucibles.
