- Q: 1.Why NaCl plates instead of quartz plates are used in IR spectroscopy to load sample?2. If triphenylmethanol is mixed with Nujol oil to make a mull for determining its IR spectrum, whatabsorption peak(s) in the spectrum will be attributed to Nujol oil instead of triphenylmethanol? Nujol oil is an alkane.Friends plz help me outthanks
- Quartz does not TYPICALLY contain mercury. What most people think of as Quartz is actually a crystallized structure of SiO2. The purity of natural crystals is relative, and while artificial quartz may be somewhat more pure, even one atom out of a trillion variation represents impurity. these impurities are often visible in unexpected ways. For example, certain iron crystals within the quartz can result in a purplish color-what we call amethyst is really this type of a quartz crystal. a couple other common varieties of Quartz crystals that result from these types of impurities are citrine and topaz. Theoretically, a Hg (mercury) atom could get caught in the crystal lattice, but in order for this to happen the Hg and SiO2 would have to be in a sealed container under tremendous pressure. Remember that Hg turns to gas at room temperature? as a gas it would have an easier time to squeeze out of the container. So...IF you find some quartz that contains mercury...hang on to it, it may be worth some money. (and you may want to keep it in the freezer.)
- Q: What are the elements of Quartz, Hematite, Pyrite, Calcite, Feldspar?
- Yes , I think there is a lot of difference. Because Quartz allows UV to pass through is completely , where as glass ans plastic block UV light and allow only Visible light . DNA is measured in 260nm region and protein contamination at 280nm. In case of bacteria , the absorbance will be because of the cell wall of the bacteria which is primarily compose of proteins(lipopolysaccharides) and peptidoglycan ( poly saccharides) . These have absorbance in Visible region so it doesnot really hinder with plastic or glass cuvette.
- Q: I am sitting here down loading photos of Quartz Druzy from Indonesia. I had a geologist tell me the fossil coral is 25 million years old but how about this micro-crystal quartz druzy. They are quite beautiful.
- No quartz crystal of any size has a perfect internal structure, as a result the annealing at high temperature creates areas of high stress around the minute imperfections. These stress areas contain pent up energy which can, and often is, released by the slightest knock resulting in fractures. Due to the relative softness of the coatings all the coated gems (Aqua Aura quartz, mystic quartz/topaz etc.) suffer from another serious problem in that they are highly susceptible to scratching and abrasive wear making them absolutely unsuitable for ring stones and even in other types of settings will not have a an even reasonable life span. They are pretty but with the passage of time they will always prove to be very disappointing purchases as gemstones. Hope that helps a little.
- Q: to extract gold from crushed quartz using cyanide, how many grams of cyanide per kilogram of quartz should i add and how mach woter should i add to the cyanide?thank you
- Quartz is silica, or silicon dioxide, SiO2.
- Q: I would like to buy a quartz or amethyst pendulum. But how do I know that it is of good quality?
- A typical rock grinder can handel quartz. Its just large wheels with very strong teeth imbeded in the wheels, a funnel hopper feeds the wheels, and powerfull moters/ with gears to give masive power at low speed... You can buy comericial amounts of quartz that is all of a size that the grinder can handel... Actually i bet you could just buy the ground crystal but if your doing it as a business? What eves... So im guessing you want very fine powders? If said grinder doesnt satisfy you could always run through a second process, say a smasher... Some machine that uses a large weight and repeatedly drops it on the product. ...another thought Nature does it with water. Freeze thaw cycles, waves, roots... Good luck!
- Q: I am already pretty good at it, but when i'm meditating, it won't release energy.Help!
- Most gold is associated with quartz, but quartz rarely contains gold. If it is really is gold and it is coarse enough to see, crush and grind the rock up so that most of the material passes through a 0.5 mm mesh (fine sand size). Then get a gold pan and try panning the material. Gold is about 6-7 times heavier than quartz, so you should be able to wash away the quartz and leave the gold in the pan. You could also try heavy media separation techniques, but that requires expensive chemicals and equipment. If you've got more than a few rocks, you may want to consider a sluicebox or some other type of equipment with a higher throughput capacity than a pan. Good luck!
- Q: What 3 perodic table elements are in soil - quartz feldspar and whats the third ?
- follow this link for all of the information you could ever need about the mineral quartz
- Q: The crystal is not with many points but one large solid point and it broke halfway up the shaft.
- Gold is commonly found quartz under specific conditions, typically relating to secondary intrusion within a geologic body (metamorphic rock or another intrusive rock). The process that tends to create a quartz vein within a rock is also favorable for gold if it is present in the melt.
