Q: I bought a beautiful rose quartz. It is on a wooden attached stand. When I went to move it..liquid came down..poured off of it. I have tried drying it in a slow oven..used a hair dryer...but it still sweats. There is a place in the bottom to attach a light bulb. I would be afraid of the wires getting of liquid into the light. Why is it happening and is there anything I can do?: Its not quartz, its marble - to check take a nail and see if the nail scratches the rock....if it does its marble, if not, the rock is probably quartz

Q: Is there any way to tell a quartz sphere from a glass sphere?: The only place I have managed to find raw clear quartz is okorder. Every other store online seems to have made it into a necklace or something.

Q: What chemicals are in quartz?: The preferred method to purify Quartz powder would be to burn off any Impurities. If you have access to a muffle furnace, heat the Quarts to 850C in a shallow crucible for one hour.

Q: Question in homework please help.: crystals have a nice steady feel to them. They are like big rocks and will be decently heavy and cold to the touch. Quartz is quite common though, so it would be a waste of time to try and make fake ones. You could actually dig a little in your backyard a few feet and probably find some.

Q: I'm getting a little confused. Some websites are saying there are two types of granite composite sinks. One made from granite and one make from quartz (which I know forms granite). The granite ones are supposed to be better than quartz in the respect to being stronger and do not stain or discolour.Most of the websites I'm looking at in regards to composite sinks state they are granite but when you look at the technical detail they are 80% quartz. Q: okay so what rocks are common in australia? is sandstone rough and layery with rocks etc.. granite, basalt etc: Gold and quartz are found together but in the case of quartz crystals that would not be the case. To the best of my knowledge there is no natural gold found in South Carolina.

Q: When a Quartz Sandstone is metamorphosed into Quartzite, why doesn't quartzite contain lots of biotite, hornblende, etc. which are common metamorphic minerals? (Hint: consider the chemical composition of quartz compared to compositions of these other minerals.)Need help: I can't think of any rock that is made up of calcite and quartz. I do know you can find them together. Calcite and quartz can both have a very waxy look. The colour is probably from ferric iron impurities in either the calcite or the quartz (maybe both). But I don't know if this has a specific name.
