Q: water pipe burst, put new pipe and cleaned and put on PVC cement, What is recommended time to dry before tyurning on water?
At least 12 hours. I would recommend 24 hours to be safe.
Q: I live in an older house that has cement floors and they sweat bad .Is there anything I can do to make them stop sweating?
stop sweating cement floors
Q: testing cement resistor by mulitmeteror digital tester
Never heard of a cement resistor. Could be CERMET? But to test a resistor, connect the leads of the multimeter across it, (it has to be disconnected from any other circuit components) set the multimeter to the ohms mode. .
Q: So, long story short, i broke a nice glass bowl and tried to find super glue, all i found was quot;vinyl cementquot; so i looked it up and it said the fumes are flammable. so is it ok so smoke out of it after it completely dries?
Define 'smoke out of.' I'm not sure what the auto-ignition temperature of the vinyl cement you're using is, there's probably an MSDS sheet on it available from the manufacturer. Depending on how much you're using, I'd be more worried about breaking down the cement with heat and inhaling any off-gassing/fumes. But its probably fine. EDIT: Also, vinyl cement probably won't work. The vinyl cements I'm familiar with use a chemical reaction with the vinyl to create heat and fuse/melt the two pieces of vinyl together. Since glass isn't vinyl, it probably won't hold (for very long, at least).
Q: i would like to know how the cement grade be checked? kindly let me know what other test can be done to know the quality of cement?
There is a physical property called the fineness modulus: But is does apply to cement because cement is a too fine powder. Typically for fine aggregates in concrete, the fineness modulus should be between 2.3 and 3.11. The FM is obtained by adding the cumulative weight percentages retained on the no. 4 sieve, no. 8, no. 16, no. 30, no. 50, and no. 100, and dividing the sum by 100. You can also check what ASTM C-150 says about portland cement.
Q: I want to tile all around the bathtub alcove in a bathtub/shower. The previous people only put a small section of cement board, about 2' or less high right behind the tub faucet area. They put regular wallboard in the rest of the alcove, and the same behind the vanity area. Should I put cement board as wallboard in the entire alcove area, or only on the wall that contains the tub/shower faucets, or what it the most appropriate? Should I put green board behind the vanity area? Thanks!
The reason you want the cement board is considering that it's considered a rigid or static fabric, just like the tile or marble you must set up. You wish to have to put off all flex from the ground. Or else, any weight applied to it, like walking, will motive the slightest flex under your toes. That you may do away with the flex with either thick enough plywood, or concrete board. The one layer beneath your old flooring isn't sufficient. The tile is not going to bend since it is inflexible and static, and so is the grout between the tile, but the grout is a very small skinny strip, handy to break if reasonably bent. The tile will definitely act like a lever when the floor under it flexes, the grout joints between the tile will quit and crack, and finally break out from between the tiles.
Q: Is there a defoamer for building cement? What is it? Is there an introduction?
It is suitable for defoaming under strong base conditions
Q: I was watching amastad (sp) and pirates of carribean. They mentioned tying cement blocks to feet and throwing them over board. What happens to the human body? Do they drown first or are they crushed? I love learning new things. Plus I'm bored. So this thought came to mind. Anyone know what possibly happened to people way back when?
It is really simple. If the water is deeper than the height of the person, they drown. If not, then they starve or get eaten by something. They don't get crushed because the cement will hit the bottom first as it is more dense than a person and will sink more quickly. The idea, and practice, of weighting live people, or dead bodies, with concrete or other weights, like chains, has been around for hundreds of years.
Q: The chimney is deteriorating due to water getting in the cement block.
You are thinking only of the ones that attach to the flue, there are some that address your issue.
Q: wat kind of rubber cement can i buy in stores today that have acetone in it?
