Q: The bottom row of tiles on my roof are loose.Depending on the weather(wind) I have to move the tiles back every 3 weeks as they are slipping down. How do I fix this without ripping up all the tiles just to nail down this one row?I do not have a gutter.
You don't; screw your resolve to the sticking place, then get out the ladder and hammer! - Hym Glorianus......... GL>
Q: What are the high-end brands in the tiles?
Fair point that ~ Dongpeng ~ champion ~ Nobel ~ Marco Polo ~ Mona Lisa ~ Ou Shen Connaught ~ ~ can ~ ~ home decoration should buy tiles, how to buy value for money, desirable tiles are also Certain knowledge, in general, the principle of buying tiles is: a look, two listen, three drops of water, four feet. First, look at the appearance. Tile color to be uniform, surface finish and flatness is better, the surrounding rules, pattern integrity. Second, listen to the sound. With a hard light flick, the sound the more crisp, the higher the degree of porcelain, the better the quality. Third, the drip test. Can be water droplets in the back of the tiles, watching the water spread after the infiltration of the speed, in general, the slower the water, indicating that the greater the density of the tiles; The higher the accuracy of the tile side, the better the effect after paving. hope this helps
Q: The tile is attached to sheetrock and I don‘t want to damage the sheetrock by ripping off the old tile.
your better off ripping the old tile off, if you rip the bottom of the sheetrock off you should cover it with trim besides trim will make the tiles stand out more
Q: I have some stick on tile that has come loose in a small hall area at some rental property. can you just lift thme up re-glue them? They are still in great shape.
You can, but it would be best to find the same tile and replace the tile itself.
Q: I would like to redo my entire house in ceramic tile floors but money is tight. I‘m planning to do the entire thing with leftovers I can get from other people who have finished their own tile projects. Is it possible ot use wall tiles on the floor for small areas? Are wall tiles able to withstand the pressure of walking? Any advice?
just tell where you live and we all can visit you in hospital ..are you mad ?..do you want to throw money away ?..it will be like a skating rink ..you wont be able to stand up!...please ..go and have a lay down ..you will probably feel better tomorrow
Q: I need either of two types of tile one was a sheet of multicolor mosaic tiles the other is a creamy colour with a beige sort or swirly thing going through it
Rose, You might get lucky and find them if you Google it. Only 3 years old, you might find them somewhere out there. Good Luck !!!
Q: Should I put in a ceramic tile shower or cultured marble shower? Which would provide a better return when selling the house?
I would go with the tile. In fact, we just ripped out our tuba and shower to replace cultured marble. The marble is a little dated right now and will only look more so in the future. Our house is only about 10 years old but the cultured marble looks a little too '70's and '80's to me. Also, there are many more choices for style and color with tile and it gives you the opportunity to customize the look with much more detail. Let's put it this way, when my wife and I were looking for tile ideas, I visited quite a few new home constructions sites in nice areas....houses in the 700K to $1 million dollar range. In every case, all the bathrooms were tile jobs, not a single cultured marble bathroom. If you do decide to tile, you probably want to consider tile that would appeal to most people. You want to stay away from the shiny, 4 ceramic tiles in bold colors that were popular years ago. Today, natural stone or natural stone looking ceramics are very popular.
Q: I need to install tiles on the floors of a 500 square foot apartment. I am torn between ceramic tile and vinyl. What is the price differential in terms of materials and labor? In otherwords: in total, how much would I pay to have the entire apartment tiled in ceramic vs. vinyl? Please note I am not a DIY person AT ALL so approximate labor prices are crucial. Thanks!
vinyl tile would be a lot cheaper..off the top of my head and if the place is empty and the floor that the vinyl tile is going over is in good shape, you are probably looking at around 800 dollars........ceramic maybe 3 to 4 thousand......these figures are far from exact but the vinyl tiles could probably be finished in a day, whereas, the ceramic could take 4 to 5 days in all.........
Q: I almost bought porcelin tile but I know ceramic tile is much more popular, what about the endurance factor between the two? I want to get something that will last and still look good.Does anyone know about flooring, and could tell me which is best?
a lot of porcelin tile has the look of some textures and colors but is really just transferred on. (if you look close, you can see the pixels) and they tend to crack more when they are being cut being they are more brittle and shatter, which can cost you some extra tiles. the transfer may disenigrate with time depending on how well it was made. ceramic tiles are hardier and tend to be painted or dyed instead of transferred. they are also easier to cut and dont crack nearly as easily if something is dropped on them. however, you can get a porcelin that looks like marble or granite whereas ceramic looks more rugged....
Q: can you use marble tile for counter top
Im sorry Ever Wolf, i'm sure you're a good contractor, but you're no tile installer. Non-sanded grout is for grout joints 1/8 or smaller. sanded grout is for grout joints 1/8 or larger. The sand is for stability in larger grout joints. NEVER use sanded grout in anything smaller than 1/8 When installing marble tile, it is customary to butt the tiles against each other with no grout joint at all. The edges of the tiles are machined with a micro-bevel so there will be a slight groove between them that are to be filled with an unsanded grout. Use latex fortefied WHITE thinset mortar. Marble can be a bit translucent and the darker grey thinset can show through. There is alot more to consider such as what to do with the edges, but that is too involved to try to explain here. good luck with your project!
