- Q: Theres only a doorway no door separating my bedroom to my bathroom? Should I finish it with the Wood flooring or go with a ceramic tile?
- I would opt for tile. If you are looking at ceramic tile, I would find a stone effect tile that has similar tones of beige/brown as your wood flooring. This will make for an easier transition when your eye follows the floor line into the bathroom. In addition, I would consider 12 x 12 tiles as opposed to the smaller Mosaic tile. This will open your bathroom and give the impression of larger area. I strongly advise that you do not use the wood flooring in your bathroom, as the moisture created and the occasional water spillage may cause the floors to warp after a short time. Water is a natural enemy of wood flooring!!!! Good luck.
- Q: I want to lay tile on a house I just bought. What is the difference between ceramic and porcelain tile and which one would be the best fit for my house? The tile is going to be in the living room, dinning room, and kitchen. Also, how much is it going to cost me for labor to lay down the tile? Total square feet is going to be around 600 sq ft.
- Go to retail tile stores and they will show you the differences, and tell you which is better and why. It would take an hour to type basic information in here. Try using Google and search the topic. There is a tonne of information out there.
- Q: I have really old honeycomb tile in my bathroom and it would be extremely difficult to remove it. The surface is pretty flat .Would ceramic tile work best , or something like self stick vinyl tiles?
- If your talking about lino tile on the floor and you want to put ceramic over it? then put 1/4 inch cement board over it for a flat level surface. Then you could put anything you want over that. I wouldn't just put a tile over another tile, you'll run into trouble.
- Q: I need tips on how to install tiles around bathroom walls. I have the walls up and taped. Now what??? I leveled and drew a line under the window cell horizontal and vertical. 1) Do I start tiling from the tub up?2) How do I seal - or do I have to seal the tiles (Ceramic tiles 4x4)?3) What type of sealer should I use? Please give me a name that I can easily find @HD or loews.
- My very strong opinion on this matter is to go to Lowe's or HD during a weekday morning, when they're not too busy. Get a handy-dandy little book so you have it with you as you go. Ask the cute lil helper at the store to help you with all you will need. Yes, you will need to seal the grout - they can find the best sealer, the best grout, the whole nine yards. Good luck on your project
- Q: I got these tiles at a yard sale. They appear to be very old, hand painted and likely of Mexican origin. The label is tattered and faded, but I would love to know more about them. Thanks for any info in advance.
- Very nice and I am sure that once you put them up you will love the vintage old world look that they will give your room. Have fun!
- Q: What is the double tiles of tiles? How to distinguish polished tiles from the surface and throw glazed tiles. What is the thickness of each? What kind of microcrystalline stone?
- 5, different wear resistance Throwing glazed tiles is polished brick surface added a layer of glaze, compared to the brightness is good, good sense of permeability, but the degree of wear is not as polished tiles. Polished tiles on the surface is very thick crystal, more wearable, and throwing glazed tiles on the surface layer is glaze, very thin, wear resistance is not so strong. ? 6, different stain resistance Polished tiles are suitable for use in most of the interior space except the toilet, outside the kitchen, but the polished bricks left in the production of the bump pores, these pores will be filth, causing the surface is easy to penetrate the pollutants, and even some tea poured Polished tiles are back to the days of weakness, and throwing glazed tiles anti-pollution effect, but far more than polished tiles. ? 7, the price is different The glacier brick has a high degree of simulation. It combines the advantages of antique tiles and polished tiles. It is polished on the basis of glazed tiles. The process is more complicated than polished tiles. The appearance is rich in glazed tiles and polished The bricks are bright and clean, so the price is more expensive than polished tiles. Microcrystalline stone in the line called glass-ceramic composite sheet, is a layer of 3-5mm glass-ceramic composite ceramic glass fossil surface, after the second sintering completely integrated high-tech products. Glass-ceramic composite panel thickness of 13-18mm, gloss greater than 95. Microcrystalline stone as a new building materials, gradually into the people of the family, according to the microcrystalline stone raw materials and production process, you can put three kinds of microcrystalline stone: nonporous microcrystalline stone, quintana microcrystalline stone, composite microcrystalline stone.
- Q: We are thinking of putting nonporous wall tile on walls in our kitchen ... even above the stove. The tile there may get some splatter from cooking so I‘m wondering how difficult is it to clan a nonporous tile? I am assuming it is fairly easy, but would love to hear what the community thinks.
- Nonporous tile is very easy to clean. You can remove grease and grime with regular dishwashing liquid...just a drop on a clean sponge. Scrub with this and wipe with a clean wet rag. I think you'll like the tiles. Nonporous tiles are a piece of cake to keep clean. -
- Q: I‘m thinking about having a bathroom tiled. The bathroom is about 6 by 8 and right now the walls have a horrible pink and black alternating ceramic tile that goes up about 4 feet on the wall all the way around. All I want to do is replace this tile with a glass tile. I have no idea what the cost would be for materials and labor so any estimates would be appreciated. This is the only work I need done.
- In UK ?10/m2 + cuts for labour only is a fair price and you supply everything for the job!
- Q: should I clean the tiles in my basement or is there not worry about it? Thanks
- Leave them alone. The best you could do with ceiling tiles in any case would be to vacuum them; ceiling tiles don't like moisture so you can't attack them with any kind of wet cleaning agents and expect to get away with undamaged tiles. Look around and see how often you see anyone ever treating ceilings. Bacterial threat from ceilings is effectively zero: the only things that ever get there have to be airborne in which case the ceiling is the least of your worries, and you don't ever touch them anyway. Anything that lands on and sticks to the tiles will dry out very shortly, it's a ridiculously inhospitable environment for life, bacterial or otherwise.
- Q: Renovation of the new house is good with tiles or wooden floor ah? Which of the two are you expensive?
- Now renovated new homes Most families use the floor, of course, its price will be more expensive. First, from the comfort of the contrast: the tiles in the summer feel cool, in the winter there will be a kind of cold feeling, and the floor than the warmth of the family is relatively poor. Especially the children are small or the elderly family, and now the mainstream tiles are tiles, too slippery, the elderly, the children easy to slip, and the floor is not as slippery tiles; children are generally barefoot on the ground to play, floor The advantage is even more obvious, winter and summer are not cool. Say maintenance: now the composite floor, basically do not deliberately maintenance. Just use the mop when a little dry, do not drip on the line, you can wash the first half a day to wash the water and then on the line. Third, the environmental aspects: the main pollutants on the floor is formaldehyde, as long as it is through the national quality supervision and inspection of the floor of the formaldehyde content of 1.5mg / L below, several well-known brands also reached 0.5 below, even lower than the European standards The The tiles are the main harm is radioactive, not visible, should not be identified. Fourth, the space problem: the floor occupies only 1 ~ 1.5cm height, and tiles to occupy at least 3 ~ 5cm height. The floor is only in the original ground laying a layer of mat to play the role of cushioning and moisture, and tiles to shop at least three millimeters of sand ash. Five, the second renovation problem: no matter who, will not be a house in the end no longer decoration, over ten years or two years will come again to renovate, then the advantages of the floor is more reflected. The floor can be directly opened to throw away, downstairs costs are very low; and tiles have to chisel down, laborious room to get very dirty and have to pay a low downstairs costs.
