6. What's the characteristics about porcelain tiles and glazed tiles? Which one
more slippery, more aesthetically pleasing and easy to clean?
Glazed tiles are colorful, the effect is rather diverse, stain-slip, abrasion resistance but worse than the porcelain tiles. Long-term use may wear a large surface; porcelain tiles have the higher degree, long hard wear surface. Good performance and stable cleanup (before playing the best times to use the wax to improve stain resistance). The porcelain tiles are weaker performance in non-slip than glazed tiles. We should take attention on its anti-slip properties, face down in a tiled brick water testing.
7. How to choose bathroom tiles? Porcelain tiles or glazed tiles?

- 12 x 12 tile has been in vogue ...forever. Colors change but natural stone colors never go out of style. I think glass tile is a fad. But 12 x 12 will be around forever. Black and white checkered tiled floors for instance date back to 1920's and are still going strong.
- Q: Installing support bars on bathtub ceramic tile
- Pretty much what these guys said, but i would recomend using a masonry bit with a hammerdrill. I not only rotates the bit like a drill but also has a back and forth motion like a hammer hitting a nail. Makes it easier to drill and extends the life of the bits.
- Q: How to distinguish between true and false tiles
- This does not matter true and false friends, that is good or bad, the market are generally brick tiles in Guangdong, the quality of this brick can, but do not buy Shandong, the quality of the poor. Buy tiles when the business is what brick, but to note that some of the profiteers in Shandong is clearly added to the Guangdong brick brick title, so I suggest you walk more, more comparative comparison. - Q: hi friends.. we r constructing a new house.. many people say us lay tiles for floorins and many say to use marbles or granite?...so confused!!!!.. wat to do?quite big house situated quite beneath the hills.
- Tile is much better suited for floors. It is harder and less likely to stain or scratch. Granite is the next best choice because it is harder than marble and less porous and likely to stain. Marble is the softer and most likely to stain. The first floor of our current house is all ceramic tile.
- Q: Im trying to figure out how to apply (vct) Vinyl tile squares? Whats the best way to start a project? What adhesive do you use if any? Is it like ceramic with some form of grout? etc!
- On VCT, Vinyl Composite Tile, you need adhesive to put it down and it goes together directly next to each other, you do not grout VCT. You also need a heat gun and a VCT cutter when installing. The manufacturer of the VCT also makes the adhesive that is needed for installation. After it is installed it needs have a weight roller rolled over the tile to ensure it sticking to the floor. VCT should also be sealed and waxed after completion to ensure it won't be scratched and that no moisture gets underneath the surface. You can lay out the tiles before the adhesive is applied to see what it looks like and where the cuts will be, you don't need to lay out the whole floor just a little bit. You can chalk line the floor with a straight edge to ensure the VCT is being laid in a straight line. You may be able to get on the Armstrong, Congoleum, or Mannington website for more info.
- Q: I was told that you can use slate (indoor/outdoor flooring) tiles outside on walkway if you mortar them over a concrete walkway.Do they have to be mortared to a concrete walk or is there another way to place the tiles?Part 2. Can you use concrete you mix at home from a bag for laying a new small concrete walkway or do you have to order mixed concrete from a concrete supplier?
- Slate must be firmly attached to a base of something as it is very brittle on its own. You can use bagged concrete for a walkway but if you are going to put slate on top it must be at least 3 thick and that is a lot to mix by hand. A better idea would be to make stepping stones with the slate on them and use those to make the walkway. You could use the bagged mix and make a couple at a time at bout 2 they would be fine. If you use the bagged mix get the one with the fiber in it if you are gonna do the stones. Good luck
- Q: Should I put in a ceramic tile shower or cultured marble shower? Which would provide a better return when selling the house?
- Tile looks great but is a real problem to keep mildew free. We lived in Houston for 20 years and had a tiled shower, it was a constant battle. We now have a cultured marble shower. Mildew is not a problem. I would not have any other type of shower. It is always clean and just a little spray with one of those new spray products and there is no soap scum to deal with either. It is less likely to have leak problems as well. If you are going to live in the house for a while, go with the cultured marble.
- Q: We are in the process of buying a Fannie Mae home which is in very good condition. We did however find a hairline crack on about 6 of the 12 x 12 tiles in the master bathroom floor. The Home Inspector said there are no signs of foundation problems on the outside of the home. He said because we live in Texas the ground settles and expands and this could have caused the crack. Because there are no signs of foundation troubles on the outside of the home as long as we water the foundation we shouldn‘t have any problems. There is also a door that closes on it‘s own which indicates there could be a crack? However it‘s just one door out of about 12. Should we be worried or does the inspector know what he‘s talking about.
- The inspector knows some what what he s talking about. Movement like this can cause tile to crack but in most cases the cracks will run in a fairly straight line. Are the tiles that way? Or are they here and there?If the are more in a random pattern, tiles my be loose , the workmanship was poor and thin set wasn t applied right or thin set was to wet , dry or possibly had skinned over before tile was set. There are easy ways to tell if the tiles are loose to see if thats the problem. The door shouldn t be a problem to fix so I would be more concerned with the tiles. - Q: would it be to hard for me to do by myself and is there an adhesive that I put under the tile?
- Carpet tiles are easy to install. Some even come with their own adhesive backing. You will need to begin with marking out the center of the room and squaring it to make a + so you can set the firs four tiles down and work outward from the center. Once you have marked your + do a dry run and make sure you don't end up with a large chunk of tile on one wall and a sliver on the other. If that happens, shift the center mark toward the shorter edge. Once you have done the dry run and you are happy with the results you can stick them down. Good luck
- Q: My husband and I put ceramic tile floors in our kitchen, dining room, office, and laundry. We cannot seem to get them clean. I use to scrub them with a brush and bleach but can‘t with a small child and being pregnant. We have tried swiffers (wet jet and sweepers) a mop and bucket, a steam mop, nothing seems to get them very clean, just pushes the dirt around. I need something that will get them sparkling and be easy to do while pregnant, please help.
